Norway bomb explosion

Featured Replies

Now live on BBC and CNN: bomb explosion in Norway at the Prime Minister's residence, possibly a car bomb. So far 2 people confirmed dead. My respects to the Norwegian people.

Police will have a press conference in 10 minutes.

My guess is that it is a terrorist attack as a revenge attack for the Muhammed cartoons. Seeing the tv images, I'm sure that there will be more casualities unfortunately.

I wonder how prepared Norway is for an event such as this. We guessing that it's pretty poor.

Also the cartoons originated neighboring Denmark.

Norway isn't a third world country. Just because it isn't the US, it doesn't mean they can't deal with it.

They have enough money and a well trained government and police staff to deal with it and I'm a hundret percent certain they will manage to overcome this quickly. I just hope the Prime Minister is okay and that there aren't any more casualities.

WTF. I never said they were a third world country or that they were poor. I was questioning their level of preparedness for a terror attack... Jesus tap dancing Christ.

Seeing the images it is a bit chaotic but that's normal in an event such as this. I do see a lot of medical personel coordinating the care for the wounded.

What strikes me is the image showing medical personnel treating a wounded man and people still walking at the scene. Seems to me that the police is having trouble

securing the area.

fucking terorrists

i wish the norway people all the luck in the world.

Every Norther and Western European country is well prepared for this, most even better than the US. Norway has tons of money and as I said, they are well trained.

Yeah... time is it there and how much time has lapsed since the blast. I don't see anything on the reports about it.

Norway has tons of money

True, originally it was Denmarks but the guy running the negotiations with Norway was drunk and gave it away :ermm:

Anyways, gl Norway.

@1adam3: you're right about the cartoons but Norway has been publishing these cartoons in their newspapers as well.

@Break: the BBC has confirmed that the prime minister is safe and wasn't at his residence at the time of the explosion.

And I don't think 1adam3 meant that Norway is a third world country :-) What he is saying makes a lot of sense. BBC just interviewed a Norwegian journalist and he said that Oslo

was in chaos. But that's perfectly normal, just like 9/11. However, I'm sure Norway has enough resources and experience to deal which such an event.
