My game runs very smoothly until I get to any station that i go on duty.

I think there are different errors every time now the error says:

The memory could not be "written".

And click ok to terminate program

OK so,

I run gta iv on windows XP,home edition,version 2002,service pack 3

Intel® Core2 Quad CPU

Q9400 @ 2.66GHz

2.68GHz, 3.50 GB RAM

Also if I am not on duty and just play arround I will still get the error after 4-5 min.

I just runned g17 iv diagnostics and this came up.

no nothing i tried out many things i tried out scripthookdotnet.asi,scripthook.dll,dsound.dll

all together and still the same crash as always.I tried reinstalling gta iv still no difference.

I don't know if I should try out xlive or not because i don't think it will fix anything.

You can try, it doesn't cost anything ^^

Did you buy the game or is it pirated ?

Did you try to reduce a lot the graphics settings in game options ?

Because your specs are quite weak you know. You didn't tell what is your graphic card btw.

  • Author

I own the game.

I haven't accually tried lowering the graphics but the game runs pretty smoothly.

And the graphic gard is at the top of the post well nearly.

Oh and I tried it once again and now it just crashes,I didn't see any error.

I just runned diagnostics and I got this (not just a line).

GTA IV - ScriptHookDotNet installed: True
GTA IV - ScriptHookDotNet valid: False

It says it's not valid but I already have installed it as you can see.

It also mentions that scripthookdotnet is out of date.

I have both from native trainer and a zip including both ScriptHookDotNet.asi and ScriptHook.dll

and neither of those 2 work.Runned the diagnostic again and it says they are both out of date.

New error:The instruction at "0x00a3e74b" referenced memory at "0x00000000".The memory could not be "read".

Click ok to terminate blah blah blah.

This happened while I was outside of the station and pressed alt+p in order to get into the station,I picked a cop and when I went out

of the station BOOM it crashed.

Well I lowered the graphics but didn't really help.

And since nobody replies to my post I don't think

im going to play any lcpdfr.

Goddamn man you're a genius thanks a lot!!!

WELL i was too fast to judge.

It still crashes but now it crashes a little bit later:I go normally into the police station pick a guy and a car and after 30 sec-1 min

it crashes.

I thought I could run a diagnostic once again and here are the results.

You didn't tell the graphic card, only CPU and RAM. Or I am blind ^^

Again, try to reduce the graphics settings, just to test.

Did you tried the preloadallmodels tips in post #11 ?

Did you tried xliveless instead of dsound ?

Did you uncheck the read-only on GTA IV folder ?

Do you run the game as admin ?

  • Author

Oh ok sry i just found it,it was somewhere else.

I use nvidia Edition 2.96. 10

GeForce 9600 GT

I tried out lowering the graphics:no result

Yes I did.

No I didn't and I don't want because I can't find my savegames in order to save them maybe it's

because I use windows xp but I can't find it.

I read a post with the title Read first before posting or something like that and he was saying

that I have to check it.

I haven't tried it yet.

About the administrator thing I can't run it as admin because it's locked with a pass that I don't know.

  • Author

I got it to work but now it was after 1-2 min as it was supposed to be.

Making progress I guess

Some weird stuff going on.

When I uncheck the read only and press

ok and then go to properties it checks

it automatically,I don't know why

it happens without me pressing anything.

About the savegames, on XP :

C:Documents and SettingsUSERLocal SettingsApplication DataRockstar Games

EDIT : it's normal that it automatically re--chech the box, don't worry, just do it once and it's ok.

The thing is that I have installed gta iv in D: and other than that I have already searched for it with no results

however I keep playing with the same save game.I don't know where it would be really.

And according to the read first I'm missing 2 "things"

  • Make sure that you run the game as an administrator.
  • Make sure that your GTA IV root folder (and every subdirectory) is not set to "read-only"

Oh and I forgot

when I go to that "destination" I only find

a folder called:"Music" and a "Videos"

no save game just that.

It could be that installing it at D: doesn't give

me the option to find the save game folder.

I don't know what I just did but I found it.

So what now?

  • Solution

Use the Windows Explorer search function to find a file containing "SGTA4" in the name.

EDIT : ok, make a backup of the savegame and try xliveless.

PS : why I don't see when you edit a post ?
