Right area for this question?

If not, I'm sorry...please move it where it belongs :)

I just started messing around with this and it's FREAKIN' AWESOME. Really awesome. I just wish that I could find some peeps to play with on a regular basis.

So on to my question:

I have some police car mods that I like to use but in using SparkIV for GTA4 it only gives me the 2 police slots and the fbi slot. I read that putting a modded car into the noose somehow makes the game more unstable and crash, so I left that alone. So can I just rename the police car files to regular car files so I can use them or is this not recommended?

I know that the EFLC allows more options for this but I have seen a lot of videos from just GTA that people scroll through quite a few cars...

Are they using save slots, or how exactly does that work?

Thanks ahead of time guys. And hit me up on Live, eh? I'd love to roll with a team!

noose is a police slot. They also put stuff in the polpatriot and modify the handling lines for nstockade and pstockade. As you said they also use the police 3,4, and police b slots. They also might els enable an civilian car then place the car mod in their. You can do that by editing the els.ini

That's waaaaaay over my head for right now. I just started getting into this like literally yesterday, so all this messing with scripts and modding files is like Greek to me. I apologize for my ignorance!

There isn't an option for me for police3, 4 and b slots in gta 4 (unless I'm just looking in the wrong spot) and spark doesn't let you add new file names, only change existing ones.

Any ideas or am I just SOL until I get eflc?

Modding the police slots as well as the noose slots will not crash your game on their own; more things such as scripts running in the background, modded cars everywhere, and other predicaments will, however.  GTA IV is generally more stable than EFLC by the way.

Personally, I find my game crashes more often when I use high-poly ELS cars in my police, police2, police3 and police4 slots (police3 and police4 are EFLC).  I only mod my FBI, noose and nstockade slots for my really nice ELS cars (altered my handling lines for nstockade) and I don't crash very often.

FBI,Noose and nstockade/pstockade do not spawn nearly as often as the police-police4 cars do, so crashes are diminished.  I also use a lot of scripts, so that contributes to the crashes, but I can usually get an easy 2-3hours easy now.

Have fun!

Good call on that.

I also noticed more crashing when dealing with the tow truck mod for some reason. Weird.

Would there be anything in a script that would prevent me from doing trunk searches? That feature disappeared for me for whatever reason... He just stands there and doesn't do anything.

Also, I've seen videos of searches taking place in the passenger side as well as the trunk, any idea how to do this? And one more question for good measure: what handling line do you use for your nstockade?
