Curved and/or Ultrawide Monitors

Hi again from newbie land. I am pricing out a complete gaming setup, one like I've never had before, and I'm very far behind on what's best in game technology. One area of particular confusion is monitor selection. The ultrawide (i.e., 21:9) curved monitors are enticing, but I've read conflicting reviews about their use in high res gaming. I've seen talk of distortion at the edges, letterboxing (or the opposite, black at the ends), etc. On the other hand, there are curved monitors that are not ultrawide aspect, just large and curved but that supposedly retain fidelity all around. Then there are advocates for strict flat monitors at common resolutions, usually to be compatible with the most games.

I am shooting for the best I can get for LSPDFR and my longtime favorite, MS Flight Simulator. Does anyone here have experience with ultrawide and/or curved monitors with LSPDFR? If so, would you recommend them or say stay away?

    I’ve never played on a curved UW monitor and don’t plan on doing so but as for MSFS, it sound every intriguing!

    For LSPDFR I’m not sure what kind of issues you could face. Some years ago UW users had to use a specific version of rage native UI.
