Featured Replies

can the new dls lighting package vehicles be replace vehicles or are they only addon possible. i plan on having a car pack made and would love a dls lighting package for them. but not if they are addon only as i prefer replace vehicle type installation.

Can they operate in parallel with ELS?

They must be addon only. This is because DLS cars are non els vehicles. Don't let the name NON-ELS trick you into thinking that it is somehow less superior to ELS when in truth ELS is less superior to NON-ELS. But the reason why they MUST be addon is because Non-ELS cars have their own unique lighting pattern set by the carcols file. If you were to turn it into a replace then the lighting will be messed up.

Lennyy (a staff member) was right; you are wrong here.

It will be messed up unless you modify the vanilla carcols, which is possible.

Big truth here, though.

I'm not wrong at all. When a car developer sets up a light pattern for that non els car that pattern is unique to it. Why would you go through the trouble of editing the base game carcols.ymt when the pattern is set in the carcols? Not only that, even if you decide to change the default pattern by using livelights, just edit the carcols meta of the dlc pack. The dlc addon takes care of everything for you, why would we encourage the average player to go through the trouble of turning the addon car into a replace and editing the carcols.ymt, which they can accidentally messed up on?

So let me correct you on this:
Lenny is saying that if you turn the car MODEL into a replace and set up the xml then its fine. But that isn't correct in regards to DLS/Non ELS cars. If you turn the car into a replace ONLY (without editing the carcols/ymt) then the lights will be messed up REGARDLESS of what the xml does.
