GTA IV Crashes after about 10 - 15 minutes, help?

GTA IV just keeps crashing on me, after about 20mins the buildings start to lag behind and stuff disappears, then it crashes and says GTA IV is not working.

Specs:

 

Intel i7 Quad Core @3.5Ghz

16GB Ram

GTX580 (x2 sli)

 

I saw somewhere if i went into the ELS settings and changed Ai_ELS_SP = 1 to 0 it would fix it, it didnt.

Not sure what else to do.

I'd rather not have that, my PC can handle the game so disabling features is not one of my preferences, I already have settings all set to medium when I could easily have it as very high. There must be some deeper problem.

What does it say when it crashes?

It says GTA has stopped working, or sometimes has some fatal error. If I recall correctly the game still crashed even before I had installed any mods.

I use V6, and it does not crash for me at all, so I can help you,

 

run the G17 Media IV Diagnostics Tools, and post your results here

then run Windows 7 Reliability and Problems History

 

Here's How:

1. Do either step 2 or 3.


2. Click on the Action Center icon in the notification area of the taskbar, and click on Open Action Center. (see screenshot below)

3. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click on the Action Center icon.

4. Click on the Maintenance drop down arrow to expand it, then click on the View reliability history link under the Check for solutions to problem reports section.

 

5. At the bottom of the Reliability Monitor, click on the View all problem reports link.

 

6. Right click on a listed problem report that you would like to see the details of, and click on View technical details.
NOTE: If a solution is available for this problem report, then you can click on View solution to see it.

 
7. When done, click on OK to return to Reliability Monitor or close the Problem History window.

Its the memory leak that was never fixed by rockstar

 

Things like mods affect it yes. Hardware seems to also trigger it more than others.

 

I can go 10 minutes or 10 hours till crash. Depends what i am doing, where in teh city i am, how many cars around me, how many suspects, how many els cars, what cars/models i have loaded etc.

i have never had problems with els v6 but... i have had errors with the game before but not with it crashing with no mods. that is so new to me. i will see if i can find any info on problems like this.

I have ELS v6 -I have about about 5 to 6 scripts Installed,and most of my car mods are changed 'for realism' and ENB, and that I do have crashes, but it depends when it wants to crash,. I can play up to 3 hours - or it crashes at 2 hours of game-play, YES I had the game crashed 10 to 15mins into the game 'it has done that a lot of times for me, and that  I fixed it by reinstall the game. WE all know that this game is an hardware eater, it eats it up, I had the game crashed by memory lost, which the PC lost the information on the memory -can't find it,

 

-I have a-lot of mods and scripts and textures running on game, and I have played it up-to 3 hours,  I played the game till I went out of the game, and did not crash,  It depends on the weather.

Here is a hack you can use that usually prolongs its life.

 

Whenever you are not doing anything, say going for a cup o tea, bring the game out to map menu and leave it there. it pauses all game functions and clears traffic paths and other non essential things going on. its like a simple pause but does so much more internally. 

 

also set els flash delay to .2 to .5  that will really help with els crashes

 

also do not put in modded vehicles in game. only the current player vehicle should be 3rd party. traffic density should be no higher than 30... it matters not what your computer can handle. game internally combusts with too much going on.

yea thats the same for me. some of the scripts i use tend to either work or dont. i think the longest i played was between 2 to 3 hours. like you said ELS v6 hasnt crashed for you or me.

then you have something else going on. there should be no texture reload after pause - game never unloads those or the actual world itself

 

check for garbage running in the background of your os or you lack vga ram. 3gb will solve almost all texture buffering delays

Ok i ran the G17 diagnostics tool, this is what happened when I started it BEFORE running GTA IV:

Apparently an ASI loader is not found? How can I fix that, sorry im new to this.

Can anyone now tell me whats wrong here? Im now using ELS v5 and the only modded vehicles I have is police vehicles. Haven't had the chance to play it long enough to see if it crashes yet but hopefully it helps.
