ENB without d3d9.dll ?

Featured Replies

Hey everybody,

I downloaded a few ENBs, I wanted to test it but for most, there's a file, it says: d3d9.dll ... Always when I put it in my GTA IV, I can not start the game, I mean the game loads but does not start. I can wait will I die but the Game won't load :D ...And when I put it out I get Black Screen. That is with game4video ENB the case.
I hope you can help me.

Greetings KemCik

PS: Yes I know there are some ENB Topic's but they are different problems.

Hey bro, I have had the same issue before. It's random, meaning, that particular file has worked with some ENB's and not with others for me.   My fix was to download a pack I found online that contained 3 different DX9 (d3d9.dll) files.   I am searching right now for that pack......It contained files named something like d3d9_40.dll, d3d9_26.dll and the d3d9.dll file. I dropped all 3 of the files in the main GTA folder and now all of the  ENB's I have tried are working.

EDIT:

OBVIOUSLY I have no idea or understanding about what the d3d9.dll file REALLY does other than ENB stuff. I just know those files fixed mine. I'll have to PM you the files, I am having no luck finding the pack again......the pack did have files for DX9, DX10 & DX11 all together.  Give me some time to get them to you, I am not near the other computer at the moment.

Wow thank you man! :D

Wow thank you man! :D

KemCik - Just sent you a PM with the names of the files. For some reason I am unable to attach anything via PM.....For the rest of you guys, the names of the .dll files are as follows with an attachment including the files I have in my GTA folder.

1-  d3dx9_26.dll

2- d3dx9_40.dll

3- The original d3d9.dll file that is passed out with the ENB.

I got them from this site:  Http://www.dll-files.com/   - Just maybe do a AV scan prior to doing anything with them. I've NEVER had a problem with that site but you never know! I just don't want everyone pissed at me if someone gets some crap from downloading from the site I suggested.  As far as I can tell these files are essentially the same files that come with a Directx download. There isn't anything special about them as far as ENB's anyway. I just know they, or one of them of the 3 I have in the GTA Folder. are allowing any ENB's to work on my end.

Good luck guys! If anyone knows more info about these or any related .dll crap please feel free to educate me/us. Thanks all and hopefully ENB's will be flowing for all like water!

Just wanted to add something else. Through my experience there can be numerous reasons for a crash to the desktop when starting out with a new ENB.  These files may not help at all. I just know I added them and BAM, my ENB's started right up....Here's to some good luck for you guys!  :thumbsup:

Just an update for what it's worth- I actually found these files here: http://enbdev.com/download.htm  - On the original ENB developement site.  Look about halfway down the page. You will see this:

d3dx9_26.dlld3dx9_40.dll - required to run ENBSeries, but download them only if game won't start with modification and display error message. These libraries are part of DirectX Runtime, they are not exist in system only for those users, who did not update DirectX several years or did clear installation of OS recently. If you need them, unpack to same folder, where ENBSeries is. Also you can put these files in to system folder of your windows installation. "

Good luck all!

Its not the D3dx9 file, well it is but you need to change a setting that  is changed for most computers......

If you would read the read me you would see that, here is a check list to make sure your "ENB" works....

1.) Don't try to use a ENB for a different patch because it won't work or if it does it will cause you to crash and what not.

2.) CHANGE THE SETTING IN THE ENBSERIES file. I have downloaded all the ENB's off of this website and also off of GTApolicemods and they all work fine, but if you don't change that file thats where you come intro problems.

3.) You need to change this setting to the right one for your computer:

ForceDisplaySize=false
ForceAntialiasing=false
ForceDisplayRefreshRate=false
ForceAnisotropicFiltering=false
MaxAnisotropy=16
AntialiasingQuality=-1
DisplayRefreshRateHz=60
DisplayWidth=1920
DisplayHeight=1080
ReflectionsForceHighPrecision=false
ReflectionsExtremePrecision=false
AntialiasingUpScale=1.0

The things in bold you have to make sure they fit your screen. So the screen REZ has to fit your screen and ect...

Its not the ENB its you.... Also if you try to install a ENB that is to good for your computer then yes you will crash. To be running any ENB on GTA 4, you should have an, Intel i5 or better and a geforce gtx 550TI at minimum, or the AMD equivalent.

Most ENBs will drop you down about 10-20 FPS depending on your computer and the ENB.

I tried it but it doesn't work. I have an Intel Core i5 2.5Ghz with TurboBoost 3.1Ghz and Graphic Card is Nvidia GeForce GT635 "M". Somebody said that the "M" Series on Laptops is the Problem. Well, I don't know... But thank you for the answer ^^

Okay, I can only play on "Extra Sunny2" is it looks like shit.

Hmm, regarding those d3d9 files... I don't think you need the 40 & 26 ones, because if I'm not wrong those are related to smthing different. & if ENB doesn't work just DL from original site another version?

If you want my attention, quote me.

I'm trying to use game4video ENB, and there are two versions of it. 1. With d3d9.dll and the 2. is without d3d9.dll - but when I use it I always get Black Screen. :(
