GTA IV Crashes Randomly

Featured Replies

Hi,

I installed LCPDFR 0.91 because 0.95 was not working well for me. I uninstalled the game and removed the LCPDFR 0.95 files, then reinstalled GTA along with LCPDFR 0.91. Now, the game loads for a few seconds and the game goes full screen like it is launching. Randomly, it exits to my desktop without and error or Not Responding message. I have tried running in admin and compatibility mode.

Thanks,

ameger

Delete all files from your game (Uninstall Fully). Then reinstall and launch the game once or twice before installing ANY mods. Then install LCPDFR. if this does not work uninstall LCPDFR and install the old LCPDFR if that one works you installed lcpdfr and Corrupted your game somehow!!

Hope This Works,

Brobropopo

Also post your computer stats

I have no idea what I am talking about

I actually got this to be fixed by coping the game's files to another hard drive. Is GTA really unstable for everyone else, because I can only play for 5-10 minutes with LCPDFR 0.91 or 0.95 before the game stops responding and closes. The only other mod I have installed is Simple Native Trainer, and the game still was bad before I installed it. If I don't start the LCPDFR mod I can play the game just fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

crashes are part of gta. everybody crashes, some just longer than others.  most due to the never corrected memory issues

sometimes i can go for 10 minutes and it will quit, sometimes for 20 hours (yep). depends on what cars you are using, whats loaded as traffic, traffic density, els or not etc. scripts generally do not crash the game, they crash themselves and stop running.

Edit:

It seems that my game crashes after 5-10 minutes when I have ANY mods running. Also, a strange thing is happening. Whenever I press CTRL-P to go on LCPDFR duty, it says "Duty Forced" at the bottom of the screen. I can respond to calls, but I am not dressed as a Police officer and I have to spawn a Police Car.

My computer specs are:

AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 3.0 GHz

Nvidea GeForce GTX 560 Graphics Card

Asus Motherboard

8MB DDR2 Memory

680W Power Supply

2 500GB Hard Drives

Windows 7, Direct X 11

Wow, forgot about that... Anyway do you guys see anything in my specs that would cause problems? Could the CPU be overheating?

You Have to press "Ctrl-P" once, and it will say go to nearest station to get your player, car etc. If you press "Ctrl-P" a second time, it will say "Duty Forced" and you can just start right away. Its the same for ending too, either go to the station, or force quit.

It's alt-p for going to the nearest police station to go on duty. Ctrl-p just forces the duty

hey guys one other thing my gta4 kind of crashes because all you see is purple and the head lights if cars and lights? after like 5 minets evan when theres no mods in the game? quote this never happend when i first had the game and there were no mod for gta4 on the pc but i think els is doing this evan when not installed in game.please help :wallbash::sad::unsure:

Alt-P to go on duty.  Then drive to the police station and get ready for the long work day.

Where do peeps get the notion that ctrl-P is the proper way to start LCPD anyhow?  If you read the readme, it clearly says Alt-P to start the policing script.  I didn't even know about ctrl-p.

Good day,
