How to change the light colors of...?

Featured Replies

I'm pretty sure that if you edit the corona texture to blue, you will get blue and purple lights as it will still add red to the ones that are meant to be red.

As far as I know, you can't do much with the default lights in terms of editing them, other than what was done here:

So is this a lost cause? I just figured out how to change the glass color in Zmodeler, the only problem is that I am having trouble selecting only the glass, the program is not acute enough and the surrounding materials are selected too.

UPDATE: I finished painting the lights, however when I import the modified car with Spark IV it says that an Unhandled Exception Has Occurred.

Make sure you are in polygon mode and using selected mode for a better way of selecting all the right surfaces. As I've mentioned since the beginning, you cannot change the actual flash colours to anything other than the default red and white colours. You can only change the colour of the glass which may be able to make the lights appear a slightly different colour.

Check the .wft you are importing is not 0kb filesize. Check there are no errors shown in the Zmodeler log box when you are exporting the file in zmod.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have successfully changed the light colors to blue, but as you said, the coronas themselves are still white-blue but that's good enough. The only problem now is that it looks like a total mess, all the surrounding materials have blobs of blue.

By the way, I will make sure to give credit to everyone in this thread when the car is finished!

Thanks

Before painting in Zmod, try moving the siren_glass objects that you're going to repaint out of the chassis hierarchy, then turning the chassis hierarchy off (so everything except the siren_glass is hidden). Then when you're done painting, move them back into the hierarchy where they originally were.

For the actual glass of the default lightbar, it's not controlled by a texture file. It's painted in with zmodeler. You need to select the polygons you wish to change the colour of (with selected mode on, so it's orange), switch to Vertex mode, then select the paint tool (Surface -> Paint), change the pressure to 100, then open the Colour menu and choose your colour, then hit 'Fill selection'.

You should make a video tut on how to do this..
