Hello Everyone!

         I want to start off by saying, Reading through some of the forums here (5 hrs worth lol) I am very pleased to see that most all of you veterans treat newbies like family and I appreciate that very heavily and commend each and every one of you for doing so.

          With that being said, I am EXTREMELY new to most all things PC and self teaching anything I know (Not much!) because I want to play LCPDFR so bad I can virtually taste it...

       I have tried basically every video on YouTube down to like I said spent 5 hrs of reading through forums on here, I have downloaded and Uninstalled literally 6 different times on the Game itself and everything else (Do I feel like a complete moron?? Yes ha ha yes I do) But I have done everything down to a T on every single one of the "Read Me" sheets and videos and all! That I am Honestly willing to just pay someone to help me! lol Idc what it takes and I know that none of you know me personally but I am not the type to ever ask for help I just fight through it and figure it out. I am at my wits end lol So i am finally breaking down and asking for help with this. Its prob one of the things that will drive ya`ll complete crazy being asked but I have OpenIV, Winrar,FiveM and everything else and Plenty of PC (Macbook Pro) to make it all run it plays perfectly fine. But I cannot since try #1 with the whole ordeal get any vehicles to load into play or the ELS or even trying non ELS. I have gotten the "trainer" to work twice but idk what the heck is wrong!!! Again I have never done any of this in 36 yrs of my life till 2 weeks or so ago. 

          Can someone please find the time to help me figure this out and mentor me on a few things that will prob take you just 30 mins vs my 70 hrs trying to figure this out myself. Ill Pay idc! lol and please dont get frustrated with me im trying like hell!

Welcome to modding, the ever-so-chaotic universe for newbies. Anyways, are you asking for help regarding FiveM or LSPDFR? You've mentioned both in your message, I can't be of any help with FiveM.  If you're asking about LSPDFR, what point are you with modding your game? What do you currently have installed that is not working as you expected?

Like "cherryaerie" said above. 

 

I'd like to ask a similar question regarding general modding: What mods have you tried to install and what obstacles have you encountered?

Hello Cherry and thank you so much for the reply. So at this current point I have a vehicle package I believe which was done exactly how the read me and tutorial said and it hates me or a youtube video and read me steered me terribly wrong lol and also I believe the scriptV, to have the trainer and a duty script (ambulance escort) a protective escort (prisoner or high profile) escort and fiveM. BUT I only downloaded fiveM because it said its the easiest for downloading vehicles (for beginners) apparently but I want ELS with maybe 2 or 3 vehicles thats it and the duty scripts the trainer and the light controller that pops up in the lower right corner. I also have a few of the EUP packs (law & order, Serve, and EUP menu. and basically the LSPDFR loads in and the trainer I believe is working (plain word menu top left pops up) but no vehicles and even in the RAGE settings before opening the game the scripts dont show up to tic for plugin loading.

Let's start with removing FiveM. I don't know where you heard that, but FiveM is completely irrelevant to the installation and modding of LSPDFR. FiveM also does not work alongside LSPDFR, so here lies your first problem. 

 

For clarification purposes, if you have not already, locate your main game folder. You will be referring back to this a ton. This folder is located wherever you installed GTA. This pathway is for steam and may be slightly different for you;

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V

 

While you are at it, in that folder, create a mods folder. Create a new folder by clicking the empty buffer zone to the right and clicking new folder. If you already have one, I ask you to delete it and I will guide you through redoing this. I want to ensure that everything is working for you before installing mods.

 

Ensure you have the basics installed. Download the manual installation of LSPDFR and drag and drop the files into the main game folder. Also, install ScriptHookV into the same folder. If you would like to, you can add a shortcut to the desktop by right-clicking RagePluginHook.exe that you installed and add a new shortcut.

 

Locate the lspdfr.ini located in the lspdfr folder and change Main.PreloadAllModels = true to Main.PreloadAllModels = false (also saves you a headache in the long run)

 

Launch RagePluginHook.exe and hold your left shift key for about 10 seconds to bring up the settings menu. In this menu, change your PluginThresholdTimeout to 60000 (this will save you the headache in the long run). Go to the plugins tab and select either Load these plugins on startup or load all plugins on startup. The only difference is load time and needing to manually load/unload the plugins you want to play with.

 

Save & Launch from there using the green button on the bottom right. Ensure the game loads and you can go on duty from there. Let me know if you are successful, and if you aren't, go back to that folder and provide the RagePluginHook.log in that folder.

Okay perfect! I finally just deleted and redownloaded the game, OpenIV, and winrar last night when I went to bed si its all a fresh start. lol I will do the above things and come back shortly and again thank you so much for your help!

All of the above was a success. was able to go on duty and take calls. the native trainer kept getting stuck on screen but just cleared tasks in f4 menu so no big nothing is perfect.

If you are using Native Trainer, I recommend removing it in its entirety. Install Simple Trainer as a replacement as it's much simpler to navigate. It's also much more commonly used. The default for opening this is F3 and F4, but you can change it in the trainerv.ini file located in the main directory.

 

Some housekeeping things to save you time are to install Modified Game Config, HeapAdjuster, and Packfile Limit Adjuster. HeapAdjuster and Packfile Limit Adjuster will go into the main game directory. Your game config will need to be placed in OpenIV. 

 

To do that, open OpenIV and navigate to update -> update.rpf -> common -> data and click the "copy to mods folder" button on the top of your screen (make sure you are in edit mode). Navigate to the same pathway in the mods folder and drag and drop the gameconfig.xml file from your WinRar archive to OpenIV. To know that it was successfully replaced, it will show "compressed" instead of "compressed; encrypted;" as it is your first time installing them.

 

You do not need to load games to make sure that they work as they are prerequisites for the future, but you can if you would like. Also if you would like to, you can go to the main game directory and copy the update folder into the mods folder as it may save you time in the future but also takes up space. That's entirely up to you so you don't need to go copy each pathway each time you want to install something.

How do I copy the update folder into the mods folder? I am trying my hardest not to be a pain in your side im sorry!

You're fine. In the main directory outside of OpenIV, you will see a folder called "update". Click this so it is highlighted. You can click the copy button (indicated in the screenshot below) or click CTRL+C to copy it. Open the mods folder and click the paste button or CTRL+V to paste it.

 

Alternatively you can also right click -> copy and then right click -> paste if you are still confused by any chance.

 

Your UI may appear slightly different depending on if you are using Windows 10 or 11, but it is the same method regardless. Also, mind all the other files/folders here, you will not have all them right now unless you install the same mods.

lol now I feel dumb... lol I thought you meant to do it in openIV lol. so yes all is done and the one file in openIV (game config) is showing compressed but thats the only one. I think thats right lol

You are right. From here, you have the basics installed. Since you were wanting to install vehicles, let's get that out of the way. Can you link the vehicle(s) you had in mind for installing?

I will look them up now. its nothing crazy but def want ELS and the dynamic lighting I think its called.. it shows the lighting flashing on the buildings and such surrounding area. and also the EUP clothing packs. 

Do i want "replace" or "add-on"?

Replace is ideal if you want AI to drive them instead of the vanilla cars, but you can use an addon if you so please, it is just a different installation process between the two.

So these are the only ones I want prob looks like a ton idk maybe it is. and the vehicle pack isnt a must just thought it was cool to be able to do all depts.

So if the pack is too big you think, I have also found just a couple single blackout unmarked models id be even happier with but keep the game vanilla police the same. id you tell me the best option ill be damn happy with either or.

I have also forgotten to mention that you will need to enable tools for ASI plugins. In OpenIV, go to the "tools" tab and open "ASI Manager". Click install on all 3 and click save. 

 

For Resource Adjuster, all files (except the read me) will go into the main game directory. Siren Setting Limit Adjuster is not required and will not function unless you have a car that needs this, but will be installed to the main game directory.

 

For Thero's State Wide Services Pack, as all addon packs, follow;

1. Install Emergency Lighting System. Open the "installation files" folder and open the folder inside that. Drag and drop all those files into your main game directory.
2. Install the ELS files.
3. Once you have downloaded your chosen ELS pack, open the "ELS files" folder in the archive.
4. Navigate to your main game directory and open the ELS folder and open the pack_default folder inside it. 
5. Drag and drop the ELS files from the archive into the pack_default folder. If Windows asks you to replace any files this time, you can safely replace them as you do not have any installed currently.
6. In OpenIV, go to mods -> update -> x64 -> dlcpacks
   • If you cannot find it in the mods folder, go to update -> x64 -> dlcpacks and click "copy to mods folder". Then open it in the mods folder.
7. Enable Edit Mode on the top left of OpenIV.
8. Open the "Vehicle Files" folder and drag and drop "statecars" folder to OpenIV.
9. Go to mods -> update -> update.rpf -> common -> data, right click on dlclist.xml and click "edit" 
10. Scroll to the bottom above the </Paths> line or your last <Item> entry. Click enter so it starts a new line. 
11. Copy and paste this line into the new line;
    • <Item>dlcpacks:/statecars/</Item>
12. Click save

 

As Los Santos Protection Squad is a really old plugin so I cannot guarantee it will work unfortunately, but it it has a readme inside it. Just open the main game directory and drag and drop the "lspdfr" and "plugins" folder from the download into the directory. If it asks you to replace anything, you can safely replace it.

 

As for your vest textures, there are a few that match this title. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the pathway for male characters to replace a single texture, and the one I found doesn't provide information beyond the texture name. If anyone happens to read this and knows, feel free to let him know as I cannot answer that confidently. 

 

To install EUP and EUP Packs;

1. Download EUP Menu
2. In the download archive, open the "installation files" 
3. Open your plugins folder in the main game directory.
4. Drag and drop EUPMenu.dll into your plugins folder.
5. Download Emergency Uniforms Pack and Emergency Uniforms Pack Serve and Rescue. Download the OIV version.
6. Navigate to the main page of OpenIV.
7. Drag and drop the OIV files from your downloads folder into OpenIV. Click install to mods folder for both of them. Do not click save and launch, just close out of the popup when it is complete.

Does the "ELS" get put into the main game folder as well? or do I even have to have it for that vehicle pack? and the siren limiter is only on the list because the pack said that I needed it apparently or ELS did one of the 2 I cannot remember  

When you download ELS, yes, it will be placed into the main game folder. The ELS files from the pack you download will be placed inside the ELS folder within the "pack_default" folder inside of it.

 

In other words;

1. Download ELS and place it inside the main directory. You should have a ELS folder in there now.
2. In the main directory go into the ELS folder and into the pack_default folder inside it.
3. Take the files in the "ELS files" folder from the car pack (several XML files) and place them in the pack_default folder. If it asks you to replace, replace it.
