it doesn't work since my game is updated

My uneducated guess is that this option is available for Steam and Steam only.
I know for sure that it is not possible to avoid updating if it is on EPIC-games.
Updating starts imediately and there is no setting in EPICgameLauncher that can prospone updating -Or aqt least non that i have found.. That is imho a big miss from EPIC, because updating other games (mandatory) makes any game laggy and not playable. Of cause updating should be a user chosen process, and not a mandatory process as soon as any game is activated.

Let me know if you find it interesting.

As an Epic Games user, I can confirm there is an option to prevent automatic updates. 😄

Wait hold up.... You can disable automatic updates in steam? Maybe I am just a impatient buffoon, but I have combed through the steam settings and cant find the option. I can only turn off auto updates but still forces you to update when you open the game.

I'm using Rockstar Launcher as well and couldn't force blocking updates. It has never worked out for me on the Retail version.
Best to hang tight and wait for RPH to update.

I also can't get it to stop updating using the Rockstar Games Launcher. I have unchecked automatic updates in the launcher, I downgrade the game using RPH and then as soon as it launches again it goes straight into an update. Such a pain.

It sounds like you did stop automatic updates.

Otherwise, it would be updated before you load GTAV - updating when you launch GTAV isn't really automatic.

Let me help to those who use the Rockstar launcher (Maybe it works also on other platforms, but I'm not sure)

Firstly, if your game is already updated and you have a backup in RPH you have to revert it to the supported version through RPH.

Then follow these steps:

1) Download this https://gta5mod.net/gta-5-mods/tools/no-gtavlauncher-2-0/
2) Extract No_GTAVLauncher.asi only into your GTA5 main directory (You need asi loader to work it properly)
3) Make shortuct to GTA5.exe (Anywhere, for instance on a desktop)
4) Add  -scOfflineOnly to target in shortcut properties - like this "E:\GTA\Grand Theft Auto V\GTA5.exe" -scOfflineOnly

5) You are done with files

6) Start RPH and immediately after start GTA through that created shortcut and it should work!
