An Apology to the Community

Hello everyone,

As we approach a year since I left this website for the 500th time, I want to take this opportunity to apologize to the entire LSPDFR community. There are a few individuals that I owe much more significant apologies to, and I have contacted them separately.

I deeply regret berating and disrespecting the users on this website. I now recognize that a significant part of a pack author's responsibility includes taking feedback and providing support to all users, regardless of the problems they face. I realize I should have helped those that needed assistance, rather than abusing them and trying to make them feel bad about themselves. The reasons for the actions I've taken cannot be explained in any other way aside from complete immaturity and an inability on my part to take any legitimate criticism, and for that I sincerely apologize. In addition, it was extremely unfair of me to expect that everyone else would have the same level of GTA V modding knowledge that I do. We all start at the same place, and I once asked the same questions too. We cannot grow and learn without asking questions. There are no such things as stupid questions. Each question is valid in its own way, and I should have answered them respectfully and to the best of my ability.

I must also apologize to the LSPDFR community as a whole for uploading packs, then removing the packs, then uploading again, then removing again. I realize how this has impacted those that care about my packs or just wanted to try them out and how this appears to the average user. I am fully accepting of the title "Tactical Crybaby" - because it is undoubtedly true. I am truly grateful to those that have uploaded my packs to other websites such as Launcher Leaks. You kept my packs available for the people that wanted them while I was having a temper tantrum in the corner.

I also owe a special apology to the users and staff at GTAPoliceMods. It was incredibly unfair for me to disparage your website and call it a "rip-off LSPDFR". The effort that went into creating the website and the "FivePD" mod is unimaginable to me, and I have nothing but respect for it. It is truly a community comprised of most established and respected modders - and I was jealous that I didn't have anywhere near the skill needed to participate there.

Finally, as it appears that my stance toward users and departure(s) led other developers to do the same - I must also apologize for this. This was never my intention, and I had never thought that my actions would lead other developers to do the same. Even back when I held my original attitude, I never wanted to hurt the community to its core by changing the environment to a toxic pile of garbage. This further drives home the point that it is so important for me to recognize my mistakes and learn from them, and to do everything I can to set a good example now and in the future.

For the past year, I've done my best to take a step back and get some perspective.

I've looked back on my comments and review responses, and I cringe. My responses were so angry and so hate-filled for no legitimate reason. I would disregard feedback - only to realize later that the feedback was completely legitimate. I would often send off an angry response, only to realize later that the reviewer was absolutely correct. Even the one-star reviews for installation issues held a large amount of truth. I am incredibly ashamed of my actions and wish I had done everything differently from the very start; yet I was not mature enough to do so.

I do sincerely hope that throughout my tenure on this website, you've found my packs to have grown in quality and stability. Regardless of what you think of me personally, I hope that you've found some enjoyment or use - any use - out of the packs I create. My intent is to one day return to public uploads here - between my new experience as an IT professional, the virtual help desk I created, and the lessons I've learned - I hope that I can for once contribute to and interact with this community in a positive way.

Please let me know your thoughts. I want to know your honest opinion, even if - especially if - that opinion is a giant middle finger to me.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being with me (or against me) thus far, and I hope you'll continue to stay with me through whatever comes next.

From a personal standpoint, only time will tell with the legitimacy of your apology. While your packs were good, one of the biggest issues I had was the constant removal of your packs, as you mentioned. I would have loved nothing more than to recommend them, but it's hard to do so when they were being removed every other week purely because of a bad review/someone not using their eyes. It kinda felt like you had the community held hostage to the point where only good things could be said otherwise all your content would get removed again. I appreciate the apology put forward and I hope that you will stick to your word going forward and see this as a learning experience.

Best of luck! 🙂

You are exactly right with this. It was incredibly petty of me to - as you say - hold the community hostage. Although I cannot predict the future, I want to assure you and all other LSPDFR users that I am absolutely 100% committed to contributing to this website in a positive way, with zero strings attached. Feedback is such an incredible tool for authors like me and it is deplorable that I suppressed all forms of criticism because of my immaturity.

Thank you for your comment.

I was going through my old deleted files from February 2021, and there was a car pack that I wanted to reinstall that you had uploaded. It was "ELS Los Santos PD Mega Pack Pawnee IN."
I would love to reinstall that if you are able to repost it or have it saved somewhere.

You intrigued my interest in what you said in the past.  Now I'll go do some research on what all the bad things you said.   Just Kidding!  What's in the past is in the past and it's awesome that you step up and do whatever you think needs to be done to correct it.  I really don't remember anyone offending me personally.  I probably asked dumb questions in the past trying to learn how to mod this game.  This is the first game I really heavily modding.  But I really wanted to play it and I eventually learned a lot.   A lot of common questions have already been asked on here and a little internet research you might find the question and the answer so you don't have to ask on here.  How do you politely say, look it up, this question has been answered a million times.  Just answer it and move on is the best you can do.  I won't say how old I am, though I did say in a recent post, but I have said dumb regrettable stuff in the past and for me, just getting older made me wiser.  It made me try to think before I speak.  Just comes with maturity.  I still may say some regrettable stuff but not as much as I used to.  😀   I don't think you said anything bad to me. If so then I can't remember.  Another mature quality, try to forget who offended you and move on.  I don't have time to hold grudges.  I recently downloaded and installed your LAPD/LSPD mega pack and that is nice.  I only use a couple of your vehicles for now but it's nice to see another mega pack like that.  Before it was Osc4r but there are some problems still with some of his vehicles.  So it's nice to see another similar pack come out.  I say, please don't leave us again and it will all be fine and forgiven.    😀👍

Yeah, negative reviews, some are like it's such a small detail and you're the only one complaining and others may be like a common problem that everyone is having.  I understand it takes a long time to mod these plugins, vehicles, whatever.  I don't create like you all do but I can see from reading past responses from Authors that it takes a long time to do it and sometime you need to pay for the software to do that on.  After all that you get bad reviews on what you spent all that time and money on.  It can be very discouraging.  It works fine on my system why not yours?  Everyone hates negative things against them but it could be a learning curve.  Now you know what people think about your creation.  Can you fix what is wrong or are their complaints, Umm, mediocre?  I don't think I really criticized anybodies uploads on here on my complaints.  If so then I didn't mean it that way.  I think a lot of authors try to fix the complaints, neg reviews if they can.  Or they just got tired of the game and moved on and never heard from again.

Look brother,

Anyone whos been apart of this community for any reasonable amount of time should understand the pressures devs and creators have. theres a ton of ungrateful individuals here, a line up of people who couldn't mod a rock who criticize work of devs and mod creators and those who feel like they should get more and more not realizing the hard work and effort that goes into QUALITY content thats put out for FREE on websites such as LSPDR and alike.

I have held on to just about every pack you have put out because in my book, you were among the top creators such as JCOOKGRIME, The echowolf team, BlueGhost and others to name a few. You and i have had a few conversations in the past and to be fair, i can understand ( to a degree ) your reasons for responding in the way you did and such. To say that they are unforgivable is unreasonable and unfair. Again, theres a level of pressure on you guys. As such, your apology is accepted and i hope that you can continue to put out quality packs and vehicles for those of us in the community who understand in part the hard work and effort you put into your work. Lessons have been learned and all we can do now is move forward!

Welcome back brother

It's good to have you back. You're a big reason why I started developing but if I am being frank, your attitude toward the community led to other developers to take the same stance. Unfortunately the community has devolved into a toxic mess of developers hating on developers and those who know less than them. I am not saying that you are 100% to blame by ANY means, but this community started to become a lot worse when you left the last time. I appreciate you taking the time to write this out and confront your past attitudes head on.

I see this as a good way to level the playing field and open the door to honest conversation amongst devs and a mutual drive to be better. For a long time I've told people that the LSPDFR community really needs a revival and a return to non-paid, high quality free mods. Too often people are out for a quick dollar to be made rather than a passion for developing mods. This shift in attitude on your part could be a huge factor in turning the tide of the community as a whole. You've gained a ton of my respect back that you'd previously lost and I'm grateful to have you around.

With love,
-BC

This is an aspect that I had not even considered and thus I owe an additional apology for. I've amended my original post.

Please believe me when I say that even what I held my original attitude, immaturity, and pettiness, I did not want other developers to take the same stance I did, and it is unfortunate that it ended up that way.

All is forgiven. What is done is done and there is no sense dwelling on it. What matters most is how you choose to move on from it and what image you decide to create for yourself from here on out. You're an outstanding dev who makes good work. Focus on that and improving all the things you mentioned above and you'll be the best damn dev out there. Reputations can always change

Im glad you're back, Donut. I feel this on a personal level as you and I are not so different. Welcome back, my guy.
