Good mods Developers are leaving LSPDFR

Featured Replies

I don't know why, but it seems like a lot of good developers with good ideas, and the one that bring really good mods to LSPDFR are ending up leaving. Just lately the creator of traffic tools, and traffic events was kicked yet again from LSPDFR website. I'm not gonna name the other ones', but I think you guys can get the point. Is the owner of the website is so uptight that they can't deal with people breaking their little pointless rules, and get pass their ego? Point is, know that it is very infuriating to see good developers leaving the community, and we can't find anywhere where their mods are posted. It does affect us all. I'll probably get ban or reprimanded for expressing my frustration now, who knows.

Hey manu450,

It's funny, we really get pulled on all sides. We're damned when we do apply our rules, then we're damned when people think our rules don't go far enough.

In the particular case you're talking about, I cannot really give too much detail for sake of user privacy, but I can mention that we do not suspend accounts unless for very good reason. Most of our moderation is reactive, with active moderation really being limited to reviewing new uploaders. In the case you describe, we received multiple complaints from the community which caused us to look into this case and discover rule violations/evasion.

We try very hard to appeal to everyone, but there's always going to be people who want their own more tightly knit communities, people who disagree with our rules, or people who just don't like us, or people who leave because we've made a mistake (it happens - we aren't perfect).

manu450, you aren't going to be banned for posting an opinion. I wish our rules and our community appealed to everyone, and we try to apply our rules as fairly as possible and to make LCPDFR.com open to all.

I don't think what Cyan said could've been articulated better.

Ultimately we being members, need to have faith in the moderation system that is enforced here.
It's important to recognise the amount of totally free content that is available, with little being in it for developers.
I guess, in the case of Traffic Tools & Events, both were minor changes to the open-sourced Traffic Policer, and learning some C# would mean anyone could feasbily update it themselves. 😝

What I'm getting at here is it's definetly sad from a player-sided view when things are taken down, but we are spoilt for choice when it comes to completly free things. 😄

To add on, if people had the time and effort available to remove the interconnectivity that existed between all of Albo's mods. It's something I tried with Assorted Callouts as I think that is one of the best callout packs still to date...minus the being outdated part.

Point is, rules are rules. And there is a lot that happens behind the scenes that most users won't ever see, which gives them a very one-sided and biased view on the situation.
