LSPDFR COMMUNITY IS DYING-

Featured Replies

So no offence but for the past few weeks, I've seen that the community is dying and people in the LSPDFR0.4 support section are not getting replied to that includes me personally. I am not ranting out, I'm just trying to say that I feel the LSPDFR community should be more efficient with it's interaction and support system. A topic generally gets 50 views with about 2 replies and the issue remains unsolved. Hope you take actions, thanks.

The issue is that since LSPDFR.com doesnt utilize a Support Staff it comes down to people helping if they want to and if they have time. Like Rich mentioned, there are plenty of active LSPDFR Support

Hello! I agree that

Most issues in the support forum could be solved by simply following installation directions or searching for other topics that have been made for the same problem and reading the solutions in those threads.

Just because there isn't enough support doesn't mean the community is dying.  It's nobody's job to solve your problems.  There are discord servers you can join to potentially receive faster support.

Perhaps you could make an effort to learn about the common issues people experience and begin providing support yourself.  The people who currently provide support weren't just born with the knowledge.

Honestly, the sense of entitlement is what will kill the community.

I agree with what Rich said. Many problems could probably be solved by researching them first. Also, some people give a very rough explanation of their problem, and sometimes some topic gives me the feeling they didn't even look into their own problem or tried to even solve it by themselves first.

As Rich said, it's nobody's job to give support. But there are a lot of people willing to help and do so every day. But sometimes it happens that a topic sadly goes under.

In the LCPDFr/GTA 4 Support is a pinned topic called "How to get Support" maybe something like that can be done for the LSPDFR Support.

But I don't have the feeling that the community is dying.

The issue is that since LSPDFR.com doesnt utilize a Support Staff it comes down to people helping if they want to and if they have time. Like Rich mentioned, there are plenty of active LSPDFR Support Discord Servers. And learning to utilize reading logs and readmes are great ways to solve any issues you have. That's how I got started in the tech support game. I utilized Google and previous support topics to help me through issues.

I'm confused, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but you waited less than a few hours for a reply to your support thread then posted this?

Either way, we will sometimes reply to novel issues (issues that are actually a bug in LSPDFR). Unfortunately, not a lot people actually have novel issues and their issue is usually installation related, third-party mod related or they broke their mods folder.

That's the reality, really. And by no means am I saying LSPDFR is bug free.

Most problems can be solved by the user themselves by actually just reading their logs. I can understand why there's not a large proportion of people wanting to help out with these threads when they are usually the same issue. The fact people are even willing to take the time out of their days to reply to these threads is much much more than should be expected and speaks volumes for their goodwill.

@astro cop

I have to agree with both Rich & Cyan here; nothing more to add.

Though, as someone who does help out, let me give you some parting advice.

When creating a thread, please please please do not put the title as "HELP PLEASE"

A, Well nah. I thought you wanted a pizza. Obviously you need support. Trying to just attract attention gives off a sense of entitelement IMO.

B, No one knows what issue you are having. Let's say someone had a fix to your issue. If you titled it as "Game crashes with & without RAGE" someone may immediately know you may have an issue with your mods folder and provide you with an answer.

By just asking for help, in caps lock, people simply won't bother to spend the effort of figuring out what issue you have, and whether they can solve it.

I'd say a lot of us are really busy with our lives - so a lot of people aren't concerned about responding to topics immediately, especially support threads. Most questions have already been answered before. Rarely have I ever seen a unique issue that hasn't been asked before.

I'll also add that GTA V is almost a decade old, and the PC version released 6+ years ago. As video games age, inevitably, the activity of their fanbases decrease. This community is somewhat unique in that it's dedicated to modifications for GTA IV & GTA V, so that makes us more resilient; but you'll still see less activity compared to when this modification just released in 2015 and everything was super hyped.

I observed a similar trend when GTA IV was aging, and meanwhile GTA V wasn't released for PC (and not until nearly two years later).

I just noticed this.... You posted both of these in the same hour. LSPDFR support is not a paid spot, so they wont be on 24/7 to assist with issues, dont know why you would think a community is dying because you didnt get an answer in the first hour. Sorry if this comes off harsh.

No mate it doesn't sound harsh. I accept my fault and am ready to correct it. Sorry for my stupidness and lack of patience 🙂

The problem is that too many people want a personal assistant to help with their problems. I've only been modding and using LSPDFR for a year and find that 99% of problems are known issues that have been experienced by others and that they have already been solved on various forums. There is always a 1% chance that a problem is unique or unanswered, especially with plugins always changing and of course the never ending updates to GTA.

Hey, look at all these replies.  You must have asked the right question.  I personally don't reply to certain questions even though I might be of help.  I don't reply because I just got tied of answering the same question over and over.  OR, they just aren't trying what you suggested, example; game not loading, turn off your antivirus.  I did that still doesn't load.  Several posts later, oh I found the problem, had to turn off my antivirus.  Well, Boy Genius isn't that what I told you earlier?  You said you tried that and it didn't work so what did you do when you said you tried that?  Did you stick your finger up your nose instead of turning off your antivirus?  Ugg, ok I'm ranting but that is one reason why we don't reply.  When I started 2 years ago at this I didn't get too many replies that fixed the problem so i just did an internet search for my problem and found the answer somewhere else.  I have noticed less responses in posts but I don't think the site is dying.  I think it's ok.  Maybe a slow spell.  There seems to be plenty of new members joining this community.  I'm guessing their busy playing the game instead of checking the forums.

I think you forgot that people here are volunteers. If they want to reply, the will. I didn't know that the measurement of "Community is Dying" is by "50 views and 2 replies".

I mean it is a free world with the freedom of speech. Besides I think your forgetting that I previously replied to someone else thus ending this topic.

This 100%  The support sections on LSPDFR related communities would be scarce if people did this.  "FAQs? Tutorial videos? Naw dog, I'm too lazy to read those.  I'll post my topic and then get mad when someone links me to the FAQs I ignored."

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Its the same thing I say to some people in ULSS. "You do realize that the instructions that I give you will just be copy and pasted from the readme right?" 🤣😂

I really love the way all of you pounded on me for being dumb to not read the read-me files but go ahead and check out my problem, it was actually a real problem that required solving not just some random mod error because of failing to follow instructions. And, I'm glad a humble guy actually helped me out with it unlike any of y'all. Anyways, I really hope this topic gets closed because the love for LSPDFR shouldn't be affected by this mere misunderstanding. I would've tho appreciated if instead of teasing me and calling me careless not to read the read-me files, you could've come forward and asked me what the issue was and whether I needed help solving that specific problem.
