Game Informer's GTAV Preview coming 8th November :: Suspicions of Release Date Revealed

Featured Replies

I posted these two articles on my site. Thought I would re-post them here.

Update: This doesn't appear to be traditional posters as such, but rather for promotional boxes (A.K.A. 'Display Cubes'). Some of you may have seen these in your local stores for other games (Rockstar did a similar one for Max Payne 3).

Original Article: A retail store promotional poster for GTAV was leaked onto the web today, showcasing the official artwork released earlier in the week, in addition to a never before seen one featuring a different character.

But what is of most importance is that these posters list a release date for the game of Spring 2013 (Northern Hemisphere), meaning a release date some time between late March and June of next year. The only platforms listed are Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

As we understand it, these posters are from a popular brand retail store in England - and will be put up soon.

We have no official word on the legitimacy behind this, but considering a retail store received this, we can only assume that an official announcement is around the corner.

Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two is reporting their financial results this Tuesday, and will be giving updated guidance on their financial projections for the rest of the financial year (ending March 31st, 2013).

Previously, they had given sales projections for Rockstar Games that they can only meet with a major Grand Theft Auto release. If they keep that projection, it means they still believe the game is out by March of next year. If they dramatically lower their guidance, this means the game is coming out after March 2013.

Andy McNamara, Editor-in-Chief of Game Informer, has just announced the release schedule for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V issue via the magazine's website.

The cover will be revealed early US central time on 8th November, and the digital edition is to be released later on the same day. Game Informer have hinted that the story is "huge" with over 18 pages of details and brand new screenshots!

Game Informer is a US-based publication, with the print edition only available through subscription or in stores such as GameStop. The Digital edition is available internationally through the iTunes/Android and PC/Mac market.

I find it really, really stupid Rockstar is selling out to GI. Either way, a total of like 6 people will actually buy the magazine, the rest (including myself) will wait the 30 minutes for a leak to the internet.

Looking forward to the release at 5PM GMT....or 12pm EST! So in less than three hours!

Someone get it on here ASAP! Can't wait. Over 18 pages!!

Adding onto above:

The long wait is over at last. With the December issue, Grand Theft Auto V fans can pore over every detail we could get about Rockstar Games' highly anticipated sequel. Over the course of 18 pages (our biggest cover story yet!), we introduce the three main protagonists, discuss the groundbreaking way you use them, and explore the reimagined Los Santos – the biggest open world Rockstar has created to date. The massive feature also divulges and dissects many more aspects of the game fans won't want to miss.

I just exploded everywhere. Seriously

The fact they've made it feel alive is just fantastic. "Drive past a bus stop in the morning and you'll see some people standing there waiting for a bus, drive past the equivalent of Beverly Hills later in the day and you'll see those same people gardening / washing etc the houses" - That is brilliant.

"We've created a city that makes you feel a part of it and not just the thing leading it, see people washing their cars, fixing them, shopping etc."

Well, I can't fucking wait.

I will say there's other info and screenshots unavailable on just a printscreen version vs the dynamic one...so there's more out there...

especially the synopsis on each character.

I've just read the entire story... I am just flabbergasted. These lines: " When you're driving around in the country, you may see a broken down car or hitchhiker on the side of the road. If you're the curious type, pull over and see what happens. Going off-road in the desert, you may come across two parked cars and a sea of dead bodies around them. Did a breaking bad-style drug deal go bad? Investigate if you want. Dynamic missions extend into the heart of Los Santos as well. If you see a cash van, you can attack it to make a quick score, or if you're looking to do a good deed you could catch the mugger who grabbed a granny's purse." :ohmy:I think the Houser brothers will deliver a true masterpiece. This could very well turn into the greatest game ever made. My expectations for this game are just gigantic right now. Let's hope I won't be disappointed next spring...

"Dura lex, sed lex"

No problem. My obsession grows hourly so of course I'll be patiently waiting for the release of the trailer next Wednesday.

Story wise, interaction wise, city and countryside scale wise I'm impressed... graphic wise, not so much. The animation maybe better... however, I expected a little bit more towards graphic fidelity improvement. Any word if these are PS3/Xbox 360/PC screenshots?

You have a point, but it is leaps and bounds better than GTA IV. Also was interested when they stated how the distance level of detail will be significantly higher. Obviously these can't be PC screenshots since they haven't mentioned a PC version even...they likely wouldn't enhance their screenshots for their cover story...right?

Possibly SDK shots until the graphics are optimized for each console. I'm not sweating graphics too much because they're limited by the systems anyway. The more resources they dump into a hi-res cigarette butt the less they can use on adding life to the open world.
