Reporting Suggestion

Hello,

Just like the thread name says, I was wondering if there was some way to change the status of a report you make yourself. For example, lets say someone asked for Support via DMs and you reported it. But then they said that they DMed the wrong person, and you wanted to revoke your report cause the person did it on accident. Would this be possible?

Thanks For Reading! 🙂

Maybe there could possibly be an option to revoke the report?

I don't see why they would grant us permission to change our own report statuses but revoking our own reports makes sense.

I've been in a situation where I wanted to take back my report as well.

(Also, even if they 'DMed the wrong person for support' they're still trying to DM for support)

With that, I would mean the Moderation Team could see the original message as well as the edited one. Not sure if this site has the capability to do so, just would be neat.

True, but it would also be at the discretion of the person to report them or not. Had tons of people DM me for support and I either just turn them away or help them(well, used to).

I don't agree with it, on the base that you are reporting a rule infraction (most of the time) when creating a report. Revoking a report has no real use in my opinion since as long as the report system isn't abused and the report was filed in genuine error, the moderation team won't care. I think opening up the report system more might be equal to opening a can of worms. Just my thoughts!

I don't mind adding a technical way of doing this, but as ineseri says, I don't think this case occurs very often.

You can always report something again with a message like 'this was an accidental report'. Since reports are grouped by the content item, this message will appear alongside the original report.

I just want some way to let the Moderation Team know you may have either misreported something. I know a lot of systems have the ability to add comments on to tickets/reports in order to give more information when the need arises. Even something like that would be useful than just having "Your ticket was submitted. You can see the status here." and that is it.

Fair enough. What I said above to Ineseri is kinda similar to what you put there. I just figured that maybe making another report on the same thing might not come in right after the one I just made and then the "revocation" might not be caught before the Moderator takes whatever action necessary.
