[SOLVED] GTA IV freezes randomly

Featured Replies

Hello Community!

Here is my problem:

When I enter the game, do all the stuff to start LCPDFR (select skin, select vehicle), set up my ESL sirens the game usually runs perfectly fine. I drive around, stop people or take missions. Everything is fine, but most of the times, out of nowhere, the game freezes, but the sound still keeps playing. This usually happens while performing a mission. After that I usually have to ALT+ESC myself out and force quit GTA IV.

This are the informations regarding my PC and GTA IV:

I can play GTA IV perfectly even on high graphical settings, so my PC isn't the cause for this.

I have ESLv6 installed, as well as some vehicle mods.

I have More Liberty v3 installed.

I have Traffic Flow V5 and Traffic Control 1.0B installed. (which aren't the cause for the problem either, the problem occurred before installing these too)

EDIT: I start GTA IV through Steam -> I have the Steam overlay.

What I've tried to resolve this problem:

- Deinstalled GTA IV and deleted the folder - Then did a new clean install.

- Tried to run GTA IV on lower settings.

- Tried reinstalling LCPDFR various times

- Tried reinstalling ESLv6 various times.

I attached my G17 IV Diagnostics log.

I hope you guys know what the problem is, I don't get what the log wants to tell me.

Thanks a lot!

One second. I shall try disabling all the mod cars.

EDIT: Tried, but now GTA IV crashed... giving me following error message / code:

(GTA IV: FATAL ERROR: Error cannot be solved - Please restart the game <error code>)

EDIT2: Tried again and this time it froze on me just like described on the first post.

@Jay: I see, but in theory it should run fine with ELS? I just want to locate the problem...

I'm going to replace some mod cars later, I'll post the results.

EDIT: It got a bit better, well I guess I'll have to live with my game freezing from time to time.

I'm currently using LCPDFR, some car mods and ELS and I don't seem to get that. You do have quite a lot of mods on.

Problem solved: Downgraded to ELSv5 and disabled ELS Patterns for the original cars left in my game.

This happens to me too sometimes. Although, I do not have car mods, or anything other than LCPDFR 0.95 version. And it works perfectly fine then it freezes and says "GTA IV has stopped working, Windows is looking for a solution to resolve this" So I just put in another version of GTA 4. I used to have 1.0.4.0 but I downloaded 1.0.7.0, it works then it freezes. Maybe if I download another version and install it, then finally, I could play GTA IV.

Just a note that I have steam version of GTA IV. I copied the GTA IV out of steam and put it elsewhere. Now I run GTA IV without steam eating my resources in the background.
