So I was just turned onto this side of GTA, playing as the police, and i got on here to read about playing online but am super confused. I see some say you cant use it to play online without being banned and I feel like guys like Polecat play online all the time. Are these guys playing online? 

They arent playing Online, but rather playing FiveM or FivePD. FiveM is roleplay heavy and all the callouts are done by actual people creating roleplay scenarios. FivePD is an extension of FiveM and is all ai callouts but you can respond to them with your friends.

... and adding to this, this has nothing to do with the LSPDFR modification which is still Singleplayer only.

They're playing online, but they aren't playing LSPDFR.

Yes. This is one crucial piece of info that I left out. It's designed to be a look-alike, but isnt LSPDFR. Apologies for any confusion! 🙂

Just to add a little to this, I think it's been eye opening to the team how much people want LSPDFR in FiveM and we might see what we can do about offering a genuine LSPDFR experience in multiplayer. There's a lot of limitations in FiveM, and after playing with FiveM for a bit, I'm surprised with the amount the game-breaking type bugs that exist and the limited control plugins have. But it could be something.
