Who knows about possums ?

Featured Replies

My dog already killed two possums but they were babies. And he attacked one but he got fooled by the possum so it lived. And now it's back I saw it a couple nights ago and my dog was barking at it and it was on top of the fence. After that I didn't see it agian so I thought he scared it away. UNTILL ! Last night I saw it agian on top of the fence. What I'm worried about is my dog fighting it cause it's much much bigger and I don't want him to get shredded. We have a plum tree so I think that's it's food and my neighbor has plums in there yard. I wanna know how to get rid of it without killing it and why it came back after a couple months. I did some research and I wil be doing more I wanna know what you think.

Don't let the dog near it....Common sense.

Have your local animal control unit swing by and set a critter friendly trap. Once trapped, they will (should) release the animal in a nonresidential area, preferably a very woodsy area reserved for animals.

Like nutt said, either call animal control or if you have a live trap or can get one just trap it and take it out in the country/woods away from your house and let it go. Use the plums as bait  Thats the same thing that animal control will do. But I wouldn't take chances with it and the dog. Its possible the possum might get the upper hand next time and your dog might not be so lucky. I mean look at those teeth...

Catch it and take it somewhere at least 1 body of water away (like a lake or bay) or it'll come straight back. Just use a cage with an apple on the door trigger.
