About This File

dEzHZ9f.png

Dashcam V is a RageHook plugin that simulates emergency vehicle dashcams used in real life.

Note: An unfortunate downside to the method of centering the camera is that you cannot freely rotate it. In terms of immersion, however, it makes sense because most dashcams do not rotate. In light of this, the dashcam no longer replaces the first person vehicle view, so you can use it whenever you desire.

Features
- Grayscale filter: looks like the department's on a tight budget
- Two layouts: a regular dashcam layout and a remake of Sniper296's IVDashCam layout
- Remote view: view your vehicle's dashcam while on foot by pressing Ctrl + E or the Left Thumbstick + Left Shoulder
- Dynamic unit numbers
- Configurable settings: use the .ini file to adjust the following...
    - Unit number/name
    - Department name/colour/logo
    - Imperial/metric
    - Date format
    - Layout style
    - Remote view controls (both gamepad and keyboard)
    - Grayscale filter

Installation
1. Download & install the latest RagePluginHook from http://ragepluginhook.net/Downloads.aspx if you haven't already.
2. Pick a folder. If you like the vanilla agencies, pick lore-friendly. Otherwise, pick real agencies.
3. Drag & drop "DashcamV.dll" and "DashcamV.ini" into the Plugins folder of your GTA V directory.
4. Using OpenIV, place the logos.ytd in update\update.rpf\x64\textures\script_txds.rpf (use your mods folder if you have it).
Find and open the file "startup.rphs". Once you open the file, start a new line and put the following...

LoadPlugin "DashcamV.dll"

This will make the modification automatically load when you start the game. If you do not want the modification to automatically load, launch the game and press F4. Once you see a panel, put in what you see above.

Known Bugs
- When entering a vehicle that you left on dashcam view, your view will reset

What an amazing thing to wake up to. Excellent addition to LSPDFR, definitely brings back some memories with LCPDFR and the roleplaying I used to do on there. Great job and keep it up.

Love it! I actually missed GTA IVs centered hood cam. I know this simulates a dash cam, but I drive exclusively with this now. Exactly what I was looking for!

Great Mod. Only one thing to anyone who installs and uses this, and gets a "burglary in progress" call out is you have to use ctrl+E to enter the house. So, when you press ctrl+E to enter the house it flashes to your dashcam. Nothing crashes, and you can return to your character by pressing ctrl+E again, however, sometimes it will let you search the house for the perp, and sometimes it will teleport you, the perp, and the rest of the officers outside to complete the arrest.

In short, you will want to change the default keyboard command to something other than ctrl+E.

:)

I am having a slight problem that I just can't tell if it is another modification or even the modification itself. But other than that, one of the best visual modifications out there. Great Job!

Nice mod, especially when you are in a persuit, but I have one question. How do get the right dashcam textures for my new police cars (the police cars I have added)?

Response from the author:

The .ini includes anything and everything you can edit for each police car. If you want to add a police car, just add a new entry with the entry's heading being the model name.

Hey, awesome mod, super immersive and great in pursuits! Great work! Just wanted to let you know, on the new 2012 Dodge Charger the dashcam glitches into the scanner. Not sure if this is fixable, but thought I would let you know! Again, awesome mod!

Response from the author:

Thanks for the review! I realized this would probably happen with some custom models so I'll make the dashcam position adjustable in a future version.

I am not a "first person" view person (!) when it comes to driving — keyboard+mouse suck in that kind of view — but I am still loving this mod for its immersion.

And it actually pushes me to make an effort to improve my driving in first person.
