Player Location Display V4.00

(55 reviews)

6 Screenshots

PLDPlayer Location Display is a script modification that displays the player's current location (including street name or intersection, area name, and region) at the bottom-left corner of the user's screen.

DESCRIPTION
− PLD displays the player’s current in-game location on the screen.
− Location includes street name or intersection, district name, and region.
− PLD also displays the current in-game time.
− PLD allows the user to toggle the size of the radar and provides some informative multiplayer** features.

NOTES
− Consult the FEATURE INFO file to learn more about PLD and its features.
− It is recommended that you disable subtitles (PAUSE > SETTINGS > DISPLAY > SUBTITLES) when using PLD to prevent overlap.
**Multiplayer is understood to be a 3rd party multiplayer mod, such as FiveReborn.

INSTALLATION
− A GTAV ScriptHook must be installed for any .asi modification to work. The original may be found HERE.
− Using script modifications in GTA Online can result in a temporary or permanent ban from the service.

− 1. Place the .asi and .ini files provided in the download inside your main GTAV game directory.
− 2. Modify the .ini file as you see fit.
− 3. Start your game.

CREDITS
− PLD is coded by Lt.Caine.
− Thank you to Alexander Blade without whose work scripting for GTAV would not be possible.

I just realized that you were the same guy Lt. Caine that I downloaded the PLD from the last time.  I was looking to replace it, but realized that I can just overwrite.  Well cone.

I suppose I'm the only one here who has crashes caused by PLD 3.0...
Do I need to install any optional software (like .NET Framework or MVC++R) to fix it?
P.S. error message is in Russian but it's still understandable

@Lt.Caine One suggestion: Is it possible you could add controller mapping to enable/disable this scripts on screen display?

For example: (controller) Press and hold the Left D-Pad for 3 seconds to enable/disable script

Not a major feature but would be a neat alternative to disabling the subtitles.

Great job on this! :)

You can disable it by hitting alt-ctrl-L

Thank you! Is there anyway to do this via a controller? That would be my preferred method as I mainly use an Xbox controller and would like to do it on the fly without breaking out the keyboard. :P

I don't think so, don't see it in the documentation anyway.

@dilapidated: Kilyin is right, there is no way to use the controller to toggle the PLD display. The only way so far is to press Alt+Ctrl+L. And I don't think I'll be adding a controller combo for it any time soon, as I very much lack experience in dealing with controllers. But, I'll keep it in mind.

@Lt.Caine I'm sorry for my noob-like behavior but I really wanna see PLD working fine :)

@Lt.Caine Thanks for the response. I asked Eddlm about this for you so I could perhaps provide some insight on the controller mappings. Albeit this is in C# so it may be a tad different however the concept should be roughly the same.

His response was:

"I would have a global int saved at 0 ontick, I would add +1 to it every tick the control is pressed if its not pressed, set it to 0 again if int > your threshold"

Also as a reference script here: http://pastebin.com/faud6jwS

The mod it came from is here: https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/realistic-nitro

I couldn't find all the mappings but here are some: ScriptRUp = Y, ScriptRDown = A, ScriptRLeft = X, ScriptRRight = B

Regardless of whether you add this feature or not hopefully some of this information above will be useful to you :)

And sorry, @AlexVonShep, I must have missed your first post. Yes, you will likely need to install MVC++R 2015.

@Lt.Caine Didn't help. I also unblocked the PLD files. Still crashes. What do you think?

UPD: Nevermind, I fixed it by changing my game language to English! Any chance to support Russian, Chinese and similar languages which have letters different from English?

@AlexVonShep: Ah, that's the next thing I was going to suggest--that it might be a language/localization issue. Sorry though, Alex, I don't think I can make it compatible with Cyrillic or other scripts. I'll still have a look to make sure, but I really cannot make any guarantees, I'm afraid.

I think I got the same problem here...

GTAV's language was set to Japanese in my case, and exactly the same problem has occurred. I changed the language to English, and PLD started working fine and no crash occurred at loading screen.

Is the location hard coded? Will 4K or custom resolutions be compatible?

Open the PLD.ini in your directory and edit the value "LocTextPosX" line under general, it is set at 300 by default. My resolution is 2560 x 1080 and I set the value to 15 so it appears in the bottom left corner, experiment and see what works for you.

Would it be possible to remove the location shown at the bottom-right of the screen, and replace it with the vehicle name?

Hey @Lt.Caine, i know this probably sounds really dumb, but i noticed in the changelog you mentionsed some stuff about in multiplayer sessions.  is this something that can be used in GTA Online or no?  Just curious because it would be something very useful to have in Online

Hey @OfficerTdmfan750 and @TheDude, it's actually intended for use with a 3rd party multiplayer add-on, such as FiveReborn where mods can be used relatively freely (and which usually don't have player blips or a player list). GTA Online--that is, the game's built-in multiplayer--runs checks for mods which could get you banned.
