The subject fled into a nearby wooded area where he committed suicide. Witnesses attempted to provide medical aid to Officer Dia until another responding officer arrived on scene and transported him to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. I will never forget the last words he said: "Tell my family I love them". I did my own research on what kind of person he was, and he was one of the best Police Officers I have knowledge of. He was involved in his community, many people from the community loved him, and of course his family that he loved and no doubt misses him more than anything right now. He will always be remembered by me even though I didn't know him personally.
