Universal Plate Formatter

Overview

  • This script enhances the vehicle number plates in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) by providing customization options and intelligent plate generation. It ensures a realistic representation of British traffic environments.

Features

  • Compatibility with various vehicle models and classes in GTA V.
  • Dynamic adaptation of number plate styles based on vehicle class, such as trucks, military vehicles, and aircraft.
  • Support for unique number plate formats for emergency vehicles, including police cars and helicopters.
  • Real-time detection and adjustment of number plates for trailers, ensuring consistency across vehicle combinations.
  • Extensive configuration options via an intuitive settings file for easy customization of number plate styles and behaviors.

I made this to work better with Callout Interface to give it the british number plate look! (Haven't tried any other ANPR/ALPR scripts)

Installation

1. Place the `UniversalPlateFormatter.dll` file into your GTA V *"scripts"* folder.

2. Ini file will be created once you load into game, then you can find our ini in `scripts\Code-Master\Configs\UniversalPlateFormatter.ini`

How to Use
Get into the game after installation! Once in, walk around and find vehicles, or spawn one yourself using in-game commands or mods. Enjoy the customized number plates on the vehicles you encounter!

Hi,

This looks like a very promising modification ! Perhaps the only one of its kind, apart from Venoxity's implementation of the concept.

As far as I understand — and please correct me if I am wrong —, the modification allows the license plates to be configured either per vehicle class or per plate, the two methods being exclusive. Considering this, I was wondering whether or not it would be possible to use the per plate configuration method for add-on plates ? Is the set of customisable plates defined in the script code itself, or is it then editable via the .ini file ? I have several add-on plates from various U.S. agencies, and each one requires a specific formatting.

Thanks for your time !

Hi, Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad to hear you find the modification promising! To clarify your question, the script does allow for license plate customization based on both vehicle class and plate format, and the two methods can work independently or exclusively. You can configure the plates for specific vehicle classes, like emergency or military, or by individual plate textures. Regarding your query on add-on plates: In the next version that will be out soon, the custom plate configurations can be applied to add-on plates as well. The script references the plate textures (like plate06, plate07, etc.) directly, so if you have a set of add-on plates, you can modify the script to recognize those textures and apply the appropriate format. At the moment, the available customizations are defined within the code, but this can easily be made editable through an .ini file for better flexibility.

Please can you link the addon plates so i can see if they are the same names ie (plate06, plate07 etc)

Kind regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply !

Your explanations clarify a lot. The add-on plates I was referring to were actually mine : there are not many, if not any, available licence plates based on real-life U.S. federal agencies out there. So I have decided to design them on my own, and considering the lack of public licence plates of this type, I had the project to publish them ! The project had quite hitten a stall when I realised that there were no modifications that would allow the formats of each add-on plate to be directly edited, so I am glad that the next version will include this feature !

And just to be sure, when you wrote :

Does this mean that the next version of the script will be able to reference plate textures as defined in the carcols.ymt file ? Or do they have to follow a specific naming pattern — i.e. plate06, plate07, and so forth — as you wrote it ? For example my custom plates will probably follow a naming pattern like NLF_Plate_Agency (GSA, DOJ, DOI &c).

Please apologise if my understanding of your explanations is incorrect ; English is not my native language so there might be a bit of a language barrier.

Anyway, good luck with the development of the next version ! And thanks again for your reply !

Thanks for the feedback! In the next version, the script will indeed use plate06, plate07, and similar textures, so you'll need to ensure those plates are properly referenced in the carcols.ymt file. However, I can definitely implement a feature allowing you to customize plate names and formats. This would let you rename plate06 to whatever you prefer while keeping the same structure. It would provide more flexibility for add-on plates, making it easier to integrate your own custom designs. Stay tuned for this feature in an upcoming update!
