-- American Siren Pack V.8.0.5 by GravelRoadCop/LEDesigns 3/28/2016

Author's Note :

In order to accommodate the sirens for FBI, Fire Department and Granger slots, I had to remove an audio file named 0x1AE3EF45, x17E9AF5D and 0x1AE3EF45 from the sound dictionary to allow the extra space for the EQ2B/Q2B, Dual Sirens, and other lengthy sirens to work. The 0x17E9AF5D is a train track sound, so you hear it play when the train passes you. Unfortunately, if I do not remove it, the sirens will not work as it will exceed the 15.7mb limit imposed. You will have the backup files provided in case you wish to revert to default settings but this will make the sirens mod not to work. You have been advised !!

DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE FOLDER SIZE OVER 15.7 MB OR IT WILL MUTE THE DICTIONARY. I ADVISE YOU TO NOT MESS WITH THE FBI AND SHERIFF GRANGER SIRENS BEFORE YOU REGRET IT. ALSO, DO NOT USE ANY OF THE FEDERAL SIGNAL EQ2B OR Q2B SIREN MIXED WITH SVP SA-441 MAGNUM DUAL SIRENS AS THEY ARE LARGE SIZED TRACKS AND THEY WILL MUTE THE SOUND DICTIONARY. YOU ARE FINE USING ONE OF EITHER FOR AS LONG IT DOES NOT EXCEED YOUR SOUND BANK OVER 15.7MB

( Version 8.0.5 Is not seen in this video )

VERSION 8.0.5 3/28/2016

WHAT'S NEW/INCLUDED ? ( 8.0.5):

This isn't a major update, but rather a few tweaking with 1 new siren model introduced to the mod. The next version will contain many more new siren varibles to choose from, It is just not ready to be released yet.

- Changed out the Federal Signal Smart Siren with improved Code 3 Mastercom B siren tones. The Fed Sig Smart Siren was moved to the granger slot, which means it will work for Sheriff2.
- Better and LOUDER air horn for the Mastercom B Siren, ready to clear traffic on your command !
- The EQ2B has been removed from the Ambulance Slot, and replaced with SVP-SA-441 Magnum Dual Siren Tones.
- The Whelen Tones that only works with the FIB Slots has been re-worked on and it sounds a lot more better than it's previous version. I hope you will like them !

IF YOU USE THE RATING/REVIEW SYSTEM TO REPORT ISSUES, I WILL IGNORE AND REPORT YOU !!!

Special Note :

If you want to change a siren tone for a specific slot, you need to refer to the "List "note that offers all of the names that you can copy and paste when renaming siren tones. For example, if you want to change the federal signal smart siren tones to code 3 mastercom tones, go to the code 3 mastercom folder, find the tones, rename them to the proper vehicle sound dictionary name provided in the list notepad, and then drag the new tones into the vehicle folder, and lastly update it with openIV.

THE FOLLOWING EXISTING SIRENS HAVE BEEN AMPLIFIED IN VOLUME OR MAY HAVE REPORTED BUGS/ISSUES:

- Newly improved Code 3 Mastercom B Wail, Yelp, Priority and Air horn tones.
- Improved Whelen 295SLASA6 Wail and Yelp ( I changed it from Whelen 295SL100 to Whelen 295SLSA6 Tones

YOU MAY USE SOME OF THE SIREN TONES FOR OTHER EMERGENCY SERVICES FLEET, HERE ARE A LIST THAT WILL WORK IF YOU RENAME IT : * IMPORTANT NOTE, THE VEHICLE FOLDER SIZE MUST NOT GO OVER 15.7mb OR IT WILL MUTE THE SOUND DICTIONARY IN-GAME !!!!!

( Note, this list does not contain a full siren list available in the mod or always accurate.  )

- Motorola Astro Spectra Siren - FIRE, AMBULANCE, POLICE PRIMARY, POLICE BIKE, AND GRANGER.

Okay, so I've installed the sound files: Nothing. None of the in-game sirens are working at all. I installed the mod in both ways (the one listed in the readme and the one that involves manually exporting the vehicles.awc). I've got some sound mods installed, including the insurgency weapons sound mod (only the explosives for that one), gun sound overhaul and reworked engine sounds. Any help?

I just found out about the file size limit being exceeded. Though when I try to remove the large train files, OpenIV refuses to import the whole vehicles folder with the vehicles.oac because files are missing. Any guide on how to remove files from a .awc library?

When i use the stock vehicles.awc and add the 2 EQ2B sirens in the folder the file exceeds the limit, anyone know how i can have these 2 sirens working and under the size limit (0x1C98C4D5.wav and 0x144C8602.wav). I have no other modded sounds in the vehicles.awc file either

Works great. I installed the stock one but when I hold down E, one siren is beautiful loud and nice and the next time I push and hold E for the the second sound, I can barely hear it?

For some reason, the sirens are very quiet... Help?

Also having that issue with the one siren. Sounds cool, just wish the explanation on how to edit the sounds for different cars was easier to understand.

I can't find the rumbler siren that had a wailing horn, does anyone know which one I'm talking about?

Hi all of my police cars have the same siren in stead of different sirens for different police cars and motorcycles. The sounds are not the default but they are all the same. Fire enngines and ambulances are different sounds however. Could someone tell me what I did wrong? Thanks

we need someone figuring out why this 15.7 mb limit is a thing and how to get around it. can't add any sirens without going over the limit and then have to sacrifice other sirens just to get one good siren. I want all the good sirens.

The latest updates are very disappointing. Police cruiser sirens were better in older updates. The dual siren for the ambulance doesn't fit in.. And like everyone says some sirens aren't loud at all. And in trucks the horn is a cop horn. Just some friendly advice..no hard feelings :D I had voted a 4* for earlier updates but now i don't agree so much.

I accidentally deleted the explosion sound without backing up; can someone PM me the file pleeeeaaaaase?

Since this has been updated, The sirens are so soft. Almost a whisper. I'm going to hold out to rate this as I know this has the potential to be great like it was before.

Hey @GravelRoadCop,

Great work on the sirens. Even though the Mastercom is a bit soft, I still use it, its my favourite siren pack.

I was hoping to get some advice from you though. I imported the Mastercom files into Audacity, in the hope that I might be able to amplify them. Now sound editing isn't my forte, but one thing a friend told me was not to amplify it above 0 dB, or it can introduce clipping. The peak level of these files is already at 0 dB...so if I amplify it any further, I'm afraid I'll degrade the quality.

Any suggestions?

On this note as well. If you amplify the volume inside of audacity it seems you increase the file size to such a degree that it mutes the game.

Hi there. I am sorry to hear that the volume was not adequate to your needs. Using Audacity, highlight the track, go to effect menu, and select the compressor option to increase the volume without causing too much clipping/increase in file size.

To everybody else, I am aware of several issues with this siren pack version and I will be fixing it this month. I just don't have a lot of spare time as I have my plates full, but if you already have Audacity, you could increase the volume yourself.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. If it doesn't work, I'll just wait until you're able to fix it, haha.

It's weird though, when I play the clips in Audacity or VLC, the volume sounds like it should, but then in GTA V, its too soft. The other sounds (speech, vehicle engines, ambient noise) are all louder than the sirens, and they drown them out.

I might try playing with the volume settings. The first thing I did was check the SFX volume...it was near max, but I'll try turning it all the way up and see what that does. Maybe GTA V is muffling the sound or something. Like I said, your clips are already at a peak volume of 0 dB, so I'm not convinced that they need to be amplified. Unless of course, GTA is turning them down for some reason. But I'll let you know what I find out.

This is something that 40 % of my complaints should realize is that the game itself messes with the volume of overall sound files and it drones/drowns others out. I could only make it so loud that it might sound terrible in-game.

That would be a good mod/script for someone to make that allows independent control of siren volume or a mod that decreases the sound volumes or priorities in GTA V. I don't know anything about modding. Im sure that would be quite some task.

For some reason after I added replaced a siren in the pack none of the sirens worked. It wasn't like the sound was really low, they were muted.
