What happened to checkpoints in London?
Locking 23,000 people would not only be an ethically difficult question, but also horribly ineffecient and an absolute logistical nightmare, which makes it nigh impossible. Some sort of a watch list for extremists alone is way more sound, and then if they are found suspect of something, you act. Still, there's no easy way to handle 23,000 guys even on some watch list, but I'm sure there's way brighter minds already working on that question.

Sad day for law enforcement...
Sad, even unfortunate but it's a job they volunteered to do.

OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"
Yeah I don't understand that. Makes even less sense they hit OpenIV first. So many questions.

Petition to Take-Two Interactive & Rockstar Games RE: OpenIV closing
I wouldn't even be surprised.

To be fair, unless their sales are hit, I doubt they care that much.

Petition to Take-Two Interactive & Rockstar Games RE: OpenIV closing
Yeah well. OpenIV's lack of developement makes it vulnerable to any changes Rockstar would decide to do. Just as Scripthook no longer getting updated could end in a disaster down the line, unless everyone manages to stay off from updating their games. There's a lot on the line in that sense. Whatever backlash they got coming, they do deserve it. I don't see it as getting out of hand. Not the way they're treating this. On another note, overall reviews are now mixed:

OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"
Problem is, OpenIV has nothing to do with 'em. It's script mods using bypasses and injectors causing the issues. Rockstar/TakeTwo totally missed their target, unless they intend to drive more people to GTA O.

Recent reviews are now in the overwhelming majority!

I agree, in a way. I would really love to see some form of organized resistance, beyond the whole petition thing. Also hopeful elements of the media catches onto this and have a closer look. Stuff like you mentioned had it's shock value, but something bigger and better would give it new life. Still, even if they put 'em mods out... They're right. Fuck 'em.

Yeah, that was posted earlier. Pretty much straight up lies.

They probably did shoot themselves in the foot it's about time everybody see their (R*/T2) bad side.

You can update it fine. Just once it asks to uninstall, click "remind me later" and you can proceed as usual.

Scripthook remains not updated as of right now.

OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"
Some people before this whole deal I was in contact with always used legal reasons as an excuse. A cop out: "they're in the right to look after their baby". Yeah, maybe that's true, but doing what they've done is only shooting themselves in the foot, as the people who continue to actually mess with the game, continue to do so freely and practically unobsructed. Even as we speak you can get your hands on undetected injectors.

Except actually stupid. In other news, this has reached BBC: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-40301450

Yeah seriously. It's some awful damage control.

OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"
If it is, it's some serious propaganda being driven forward by them. OpenIV did not enable to people to wreak havoc in GTA O. That's just straight up lies. And what's Liberty City got to do with that?
