yes i would not go so far as to call cops "Nazis" in this country (although the women cops can real bitches), but I do think that the laws regarding lights etc is ridiculously strict. for example, in this state, you can only have 2 fricking lights - what good is 2 frickin lights gonna do? (i havent looked into is if it specifically says lights or lighting systems, in which case there might be a loop-hole)

nice that you can do that without the local gov being a pain about it. also, you might want to look into tinted emergency lights. its a nice effect that you can easily do yourself. here is an example:

its kinda hard to tell exactly from that photo, but my guess would be like a semi-dark blue or lighter navy blue. see its not quite dark enough to really be called a midnight or dark blue in opinion. that is a really nice policy. im gonna have to check on that here. if not remind me to move to Nova Scotia XD
