I want to make a custom add-on engine audio resource for FiveM.
Where do I start? Finding the tutorials on a Google search all yield how to install sounds and not how to create them. If there are any tools, they're behind paywalls unable to be accessed by the public. I want to be able to create an engine sound from scratch and code it so it actually sounds like an engine and not an engine sound replacing a stock GTA one which is already scripted a certain way. Where do I begin to try and get more information on how to do this?

What happened to the modding community?
I've been in and out of the GTA modding community for 17 years now, and it feels like there's been a major shift in the GTA modding community toward stifling creativity in the name of protecting creations (the term "mod theft" gets thrown around there) or stifling creativity behind a paywall. I understand that some folks would like to make a small buck or two making models and recouping losses for 3d models that get converted from scratch, but how is any future modeler going to learn how to create something on their own if a majority of models are locked and/or behind paywalls? At this point while I may be considered a GTA elder, I think it's important to highlight that some of the greats in this community started with models that were made by others and adding their own flavor to it. You have to start somewhere. Back in the day when gtapolicemods was still a functioning site, often we would work on other people's things so long as credit was given to the original authors. Now it's become an elitist jungle where new developers are limited as to what they can make. I don't get it.

Trying to get lightbars to light up without ELS
UPDATE: Emissives are working, but the lighting pattern is not. The goal is to do the painstaking task of getting 3 vehicles (CVPI/Charger/FPIU) rebadged as lore models (this is the only way staff will allow these on the FiveM server I am a part of) with working lightbars. Seems like setting the emissives up top on the material browser made them appear (not sure if the color lightbar will make them show up as well), but they're not flashing the way they should. I should also mention I am trying to make Otaku's Whelen Freedom work for all of these cars.

Trying to get lightbars to light up without ELS
I'm trying my damnedest to get any lightbar to work for car models for a fivem server. Unfortunately (as I'm finding out) the modding game has changed so much to the point where all I can use are developer parts since 99% of car models are locked nowadays. I am trying to use the whelen freedom II or any of the lightbars located on this website. The problem that I am having is that with that lightbar and everything else, nothing is mapped and is unfinished. Finding tutorials on trying to get lightbars working for FiveM/Non ELS is scarce. I am able to get dummies working in order to get the base lights to work but the emissives aren't appearing. Are there tutorials on how to get lightbars working just for GTA V in general? I'm running into a ton of roadblocks trying to get back into this developer scene again.

Dodge Challenger Hellcat Sound Mod
- 1,758 downloads
- Version 1.0.0
This took 3 attempts to even get it remotely sounding decent. This will replace your Franken Stange (btype2) engine sounds with a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. This sound is commonly used on FiveM servers for Gauntlet interceptors. THIS ONE HAS A LONG DIRECTORY. FOLLOW THESE STEPS EXACTLY AS THEY ARE WRITTEN. HOW TO INSTALL: - MAKE BACKUPS!!! - OpenIV must be in "edit mode" - update/x64/dlcpacks/mphalloween/dlc.rpf/x64/audio/sfx/dlc_halloween/musclecar_8_us_v8_halloween.awc - New -> Import Openformats -> Install "musclecar_8_us_v8_halloween.oac." Do the same for the NPC version ("musclecar_8_us_v8_halloween_npc.oac.") The readme says "NPC folder," don't do that. - Use ArchiveFix (you can find this in the Crown Victoria sound mod below). Drag and drop "dlc.rpf" from "mp_halloween" onto ArchiveFix.exe. - Load your game and see what you installed. Check your favorite FiveM servers or spawn "btype2" in singleplayer. SOUND DEMO: -

[NON ELS/FIVEM READY/SP] Los Santos PD Mega Pack
1. No 2. Yes (for addon vehicles, otherwise they will not work) 3. This is the only pack I have installed.

[NON ELS/FIVEM READY/SP] Los Santos PD Mega Pack
Charger is included now! However, the 18charger is still yielding rotating red lights instead of the proper lighting as the rest of the cars. I also cannot spawn either tahoe. They crash the game and are both labeled 18tahoe when spawning with a trainer.

Vince Kaufman's Federal Signal Smart Siren (Twitch/FiveM ready)
- 446 downloads
- Version 1.0.0
So, You're looking for yet ANOTHER Federal Signal Smart Siren. This is being uploaded to LCPDFR.com as a result of content creators getting DMCA strikes on their VODs as a result of the default sirens being picked up as well as other siren sound mods muting VODs. This sound mod has rendered no issues as of yet for my twitch streams and is hopefully going to work for your game as well should you face issues. (Sound files are also added separately in here in case you have other sounds in your resident.rpf that you wish to keep, like car door sounds, other horns, etc. YOU DON'T NEED TO ADD THESE IF YOU'RE ONLY INSTALLING THE SIRENS) How to install: 1. OpenIV -> Edit Mode 2. x64 -> Audio -> sfx -> Resident.RPF 3. Install openformats (.oac) -> locate the vehicles.oac from this mod. You won't need openIV after this stage. 4. Use Archivefix to fix the resident.rpf file you just modified. Don't have Archivefix? I have it included in this sound mod: https://www.lcpdfr.com/downloads/gta5mods/audio/31180-keyboard-cops-cvpi-sound-mod-npc-add-on/ Launch singleplayer/fivem and test it out! Please message me if this mod is giving you DMCA strikes. The sounds come from people demonstrating the Smart Siren on youtube and are not from professional/royalty based sources. https://clips.twitch.tv/BashfulDeadHamAllenHuhu-SFqdxeF88bvw4_NZ (test for the siren) -

Dodge Charger 5.7L V8 Sound Mod
Update has been released. V3 might happen if I can find a clear clip of a police charger driving with exterior noises.

Dodge Charger 5.7L V8 Sound Mod
Here's what I've compiled so far. This is take 3, the 2nd one was on the right track, but still did not sound anything remotely like a charger. I'm still using the original samples for the engine noise, but I'm trying a different exhaust sound (sadly, no videos exist recording a stock muffler driving, so we have a slightly modded exhaust to work with here).

SAHP/LSPD Buffalos [Final]
There's a heaping amount of XML errors in the carcols.meta file (All the "police-siren" lines of code are XML parsing errors). My game crashes before I can even load in to spawn these things. Any solutions?

Dodge Charger 5.7L V8 Sound Mod
UPDATE: New version will be made for the Buffalo S, not the regular one. Sounds are closer to the real deal on the Buffalo S.

Dodge Charger 5.7L V8 Sound Mod
I can see if I can get it to work on the sound bank for the Buffalo S and see if that makes any difference. Again, unfortunately due to Rockstar having heavy limitations (sound files have to be EXACTLY the length/frequency/bit depth), I can't just throw in the acceleration sounds the way they're supposed to sound naturally.

This replaces the base model Buffalo sounds, not the Buffalo S. I'm working on replacing that with a more powerful engine. This is my first attempt at making a 5.7 V8 Dodge Charger. Unfortunately the car shifts too early in real life and sound mods have to be the exact length as they are ingame, so this mod uses dyno track sounds. How to install: - MAKE A BACKUP OF "STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR.rpf" and "STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR_NPC.rpf!" - OpenIV must be in "edit mode" - x64/audio/sfx/STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR.rpf. "New -> Import Openformats -> Install "sports_saloon_2_eur_5cyl.oac." Do the same in the NPC Folder for "sports_saloon_2_eur_5cyl_npc.oac." This gets installed in x64/audio/sfx/STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR_NPC.rpf. - Use ArchiveFix to get the sounds to work ingame! - Load up the game and enjoy! If the game loads proper, your sound is installed properly. -

This gets installed in x64/audio/sfx/STREAMED_VEHICLES_GRANULAR_NPC.rpf. - If you don't have archivefix on your computer, it is included in the mod. Stills from my upcoming machinima for GTA V. They're not 100% 4K Ultra-HD res, but these are taken straight from the recordings of the episodes. If you're interested in voice-over work for my show, send me a PM. I am always looking for talent.

Now or Never Cops: Sandy Shores
Back from the grave, it is yours truly with a project in the works. Through reddit and other outlets I have been able to obtain voice talents for this personal project that has been going through almost an entire year of development hell and now my series is beginning to take flight. What is This and Why Should I Care? Now or Never Cops (name derived from a defunct VC:MP roleplay server) is a youtube series that was created during the heyday of VC:MP for youtube. This project follows the continuation of that series into the GTA V universe. Following the events of the 3rd season, a rogue police chief is on the run and has found his way into Los Santos. After a year long search and trails going cold, he re-emerges into Sandy Shores, a small town where nobody even knows who he is. After a corrupt transfer from another sheriff's department, he emerges as a new deputy to the town and tries to regain his life as a fresh start. How can you become a part of this, you ask? I am still filling a few major roles and minor roles for voice over talent. You do not need GTA V to be a part of this as all scenes have been filmed on my local machine. Above is the first 5 minutes of episode 1. As there are still pieces to fill (and mistakes to correct, I am well aware of the sudden black screen. That will be fixed on the final render of the episode), I will get closer and closer to finally releasing all 10 episodes on a more consistent basis. Posting this in case this catches someone's eyes.
