Royal Jay got a reaction from JSTM in Spawned police5 unit - No engine sound
    So I followed this tutorial:
on how to add additional police cars and for the most part it worked, I was able to add a dodge charger to police5 slot, which I created and ELS worked. Unfortunately, the car has no sound, the sirens work but the engine is mute. Does this have something to do with the default  carvariations.meta I used which was provided? Thank You

Edit: So I feel really stupid asking a question I just answered. I went back into the vehicle.meta to search around and see if I messed up. Technically, I did everything correct however I did overlook one aspect. Creating a new unit called police5 was fine, but I was also calling the game to load <audioNameHash> </> for police5, of course none existed thus the car's engine was mute. I resolved this issue by replacing it with audioNameHash>police2</audioNameHash> so I was able to duplicate police2 engine sound and now everything works fine. So sorry about this pointless topic now.

As a matter of fact I was inspired by this post to try adding on cars to my game, and I just ran into the same issue and applied your fix. Thanks Mate.

Hey brother your not alone I have NEVER had a problem with LSPDFR until ragehook .55, then the game kept crashing. I tried everything, I uninstalled everything and did a clean install, it still kept crashing. I saw this thread and then I read this "it was my controller this entire time", I looked over and went shit my Xbox controller is plugged in. I unplugged it and what do you know, it works. I'm happy but mad because now I have a ton of things to install lol

I think everyone needs to read and heed this statement. As a programmer, I find it incredibly difficult to believe R* would redesign the internal workings of their game (IE: remove YTF files for something else). Not to say it couldn't happen, it very well could, however, it would require an incredible amount of time and money. I'm not going to write a wall of text to elaborate more on the principles of programming and business management, so I'll keep it short. Before R* would even begin changing files around they have to ask "is the net loss worth the net gain". If they spend the time and resources changing files around do they stand to make enough money to justify that change and frankly I don't think they will. However, this is all theory crafting, until something is stated from them we should carry on with business as usual.

If it wasn't already obvious, R* is lead by idiots, they already made their subscription based desires clear. They want to pump out tons of online content so people buy microtransactions and they keep raking the money in with little to no work. Modding takes away from their potential revenue, I'm already done with them, I play GTA because I LOVE LSPDFR and DOJRP, but I don't see myself supporting this shady company. I just hope we can find a way to continuously mod GTA V in the future to come.

To the LSPDFR community, those who like/use my mods, and everyone else.

By now I'm sure most if not all of you have heard of the closing of the beloved OpenIV. For those of you who haven't I'll post a link after this. I've spent some of my day reading through the stories relating to the issue, read through may of the responses, signed petitions, etc. It's a sad site for many of us to see OpenIV close, and while we ALL have many questions, comments, and absolute concerns, I thought I would express my stance on the issue and what you can expect from me from this moment forward.

First off, like many of you I am sadden to see the tool and the DEV team close their doors. I remember back in the day when I started out with IV, SparkIV was my go to tool because I finally switched over to the much better OpenIV. That's when I really started getting into modeling and stuff like that, I remember my first download on here was a Dallas emergency services skin set I did for some models. After that I finally managed to finish my first model and get it working for IV. The rest as they say is history. OpenIV for many of us has been a tool that brought us into the spot light within this community, it allowed for many great mods to come from many great dev's. For that we will always be grateful of the time/effort put into the tool.

So with that, I'll explain where I stand. I know that there has been talk of legal action against those who continue to "mod" for V, however I believe this community is far too big for them to issue any kind of legal action against everyone. I understand that many dev's are closing operations within V, I for one will now. This community is amazing and so are the people who visit here. For many of us it has been the birth place of our craft. So I do not intend on quitting the community. I understand that there has been word about a update that will change all of V's modding capabilities, until that is done and it is quite literally impossible for me to continue, I will still bring forth the models I am now. I will also continue to update those that I've released. A lot about this new's is still up in the air, there hasn't been any comment from T2 or R* explaining the situation or what exactly they want. Until then I'll treat it as just another bump in the road that I won't slow down for.

To the modders and dev's who are closing shop. I urge you not to give up on your hobby, yourself, this community, and the people who enjoy your stuff. There is still so much more that can be done and still so much that has not been discovered.

I wish everyone the best of luck on their future endeavors and I hope for the best of this situation!

    Thanks and much love,

I am in 100% agreement. It baffled me that Take-Two (Who I'm sure have written a legal document or two) couldn't figure out proper grammar when sending this C&D in the first place. And that the OpenIV guys only reacted to it days later via update, with no warning, and just pretty much said "bye, see ya later".

My original crazy theory is that it was an attempt on GTA modding from another modder or developer to stop production of a competitor. (My theory is based on the dev for Police1013's interactions with this community, but it isn't wholly based on him.

And another thing. Why send a C&D to one modder, but randomly contact "Alex" (Who we still have no idea about), about changing game files 4 years after initial launch. This makes no sense.

lol GTA 5 Mods had to take down one of my mods due to it sharing default game files (The vehicles are uv map for customization so no they are not just the default files). They figured out what it was and are going to allow it for now. Everyone is blowing this way out of proportion before anyone knows any true facts.

The bad most backing factor I could find about this issue as of today: I downloaded the new gun runner update on my xbox 1 version of the game. I've never seen it before but I got a disclaimer to report any abuse of GTA Online and it would be reviewed and appropriately be handle if any exploit were found and if you are found using any, your account would be banned/disabled. (This is not the exact wording but I'm generalizing). I've never recall seeing this in the past nor do I know if its been there for a while already but odd this comes around the same time. Yet again this ONLY APPLIES TO GTA ONLINE!

For Rock star games to change all of there files to a different format would be a lot of work  for the company to do and I frankly do not believe it. Try explaining to a greedy corp executive that you need thousands, millions of dollars to basically remake a game to stop single player exploits that cost them no money to be exploited. This  would get turned down right away (Common greedy knowledge tells you if it doesn't cost you money why worry about it). So the file change thing I'm skeptical about. Also whats to stop another coder from coming along and breaking the code for those files? Then they just wasted all that money for nothing.

The good. Take 2 and rock star games have a lot of money. They could easily afford to have a legal document properly proof read before sending it to the person or persons being served the document and translated properly as well. The grammar of the letter brings so much doubt of its authenticity that I am very skeptical about it. PC Gamer recalled and I even remember when an ARK modder sent a bogus cease and deists letter to another modder who made Pokemon replace Dinosaurs  in the game and led to  forcing the mod shut down TEMPORARILY as a prank. That could very well be what this is. More  skepticism I have with this is that OpenIV never published the letter entirely. Just bits and pieces of it. They don't have a Legal obligation not to post the entire letter. If they did then they violated it by revealing the poorly written grammar portion of the letter which in there post they clearly say it is written that way on the cease and deists letter.

With all of the above however I do understand the precaution of You Tubers discontinuing there episodes in fear as in some cases YouTube is there main source of revenue and can't afford to lose it as well as other sites taking pre cautionary actions over modding.

But with all that being said. Wait until someone gets a hold of Rockstar Games and/or Take 2 and get there side of the story to prove its authenticity. I'm not saying to get your hopes up here because I could be wrong but no one has been available for comment as of yet. With a gaming magazine as big as PC Gamer inquiring about the accusations and them not responding leads up to three scenarios:

They haven't responded because they are not aware of any such letter (That is what I'm hoping for anyways).

They were not available for comment because the time the post was released was after normal business hours (Could be a possibility).

Or they are trying to come up with a legal Pro PR way of coming out about the cease and desist letter and trying to save face with the community (Most likely)

However we always have rockstar pretty much okay with it via there  blog okaying the modding of single player:

    Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/05/07/grand-theft-auto-5-pc-mods-get-seal-of-approval-from-rockstar-games

Read on below, via Rockstar Games' official blog. Emphasis added.
"We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV.  Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways."
So in short, Rockstar supports the use of single-player mods in Grand Theft Auto 5. Rejoice!

This reminds me of soon after the release of GTA V on PC. Early in summer (During the Steam Sales in fact), everything went on sale, as normal. Well instead of Take-Two, and really, Rockstar, making the game cheaper, they "Lowered the price" but added an insignificant amount of sharkcards to send the price right back up to 70 bucks. These people have been after the money the whole time. They don't give a shit about the community, they care about the profits.

This again, makes me reaffirm my position on the petition; it's important. We affect their bottom line. At the end of the day we matter.

Yes, I think this is the most important point that has been said.

Over the next few hours and days, people are going to speculate wildly about the future of both Open IV and GTA V in general. People need to relax. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
Yes, I saw the forum topic, but it still provides little to no context for this message from Take-Two to this random GTA modder (If that's who Alex is). And he seems to be speculating that "entitled gta standard online pricks" ratted out the community when R* has been more than aware of this and other communities for years. I think this dude is just vying for attention.
