ACSO recruit diary - Week 3 , Recruits receive their cadet uniforms and can be seen here forming up prior to beginning a fitness test. The fitness test consisted of a 3 Mile run, followed by Circuit training.

The Launch of the ASCO Citizens Patrol. 2 volunteers , Roach and Wilson out and about stopping off at Leftwood Church handing out recruitment posters. Volutneers wear a uniform and drive specially marked vehicles adding to the crime fighting presence within Alderney County. The volunteers are not armed and will not get involved with front line policing duties. The units main tasks will be to assist with parking enforcement, vacation home checks, and on the whole be the eyes and ears within the Community and provide that link between community and the Sheriffs Office.

ACSO launches its Citizens Patrol unit today. The unit is not here to replace Deputies, the Citizens Patrol is in place to assist deputies allowing them to spend more time our fighting crime within Alderney County. Sheriff Jackson said " I welcome the 10 Volunteers who are giving up their time to help serve the ACSO into the family, and look forward to seeing them out and about serving the people of Alderney. "

Recruit Diary - Day 1 Orientation Training , Recruit Johnson seen here doing burpees under the direction of training Lt James for arriving an hour late to the academy . The recruit blamed LTA subway system for his delay but as can be seen here, Lt James was having none of it!

Recruit Diary Day 1 - Sheriff's Office Orientation begins for our new recruits seen here lined up on their first official day within the department. The Sheriffs office training facility opened up its doors this week to the first 30 Recruits, taken from all walks of life, traveling as far from Las Vegas to join the department. The recruits have been split down into squads of 10 This is the first intake of Deputies for the ACSO since the budget cuts 4 years ago. The ACSO is looking to recruit 100 new Deputies to serve the County of Alderney. Life will begin to get very difficult for the new recruits for the next 25 weeks of department training , we will follow the recruits progress from start to finish.

ACSOs new civilian pilot program, The Citizen Patrol. The Citizen Patrol will be opening up recruitment in the coming days. Sheriff Jackson had this to say " The Citizens Patrol is a new exciting way for members of the community to get involved with local policing in their area, people interested in taking part should attend the ACSO HQ on Monday to find out more"

ACSO traffic stop turns into a felony stop after checks on the driver show shes wanted by North Yankton Police in connection with a murder that occurred 2 weeks previous. The driver is now safety tucked up in the Alderney County jail awaiting handover to North Yankton Police.

One of the ACSOs rural patrol division deputies initiates a traffic stop on interstate 12 heading into Alderney. The vehicle was stopped for running on expired plates and having 2 defective front headlights.

Due to budget restraints it was decided that Liberty City Police would also benefit from a joint regional training facility. Sheriff Jackson said " By sharing the site, we can best equip our deputies for front line policing on our streets. The site will boast a skidpan for driver training, along with firearms training facilities and a functional skills house. The site will also incorporate 250 residential en suite rooms and 3 dormitories that will house up to 20 recruits " The build is due in service late March 2015
