Lakeview County Emergency Services responded for reports of an explosion at a local research facility. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were visible from the outside of one of the buildings on the campus. One fire engine from each district was dispatched to assist with the fire, and additional resources were dispatched from the City of Los Santos to assist with the fire as well. Crews are still investigating the cause of the explosion, however state that there was a welding permit issued around the time that the explosion occurred.

Police, Fire and EMS officials in Lakeview are being issued a new piece of equipment. Only, this equipment is not what you'd expect. "It's a teddy bear." says Sergeant Bennett with Lakeview County Police. "Sometimes we as first responders have to deal with children in stressful situations." he says. The teddy bears are a part of the new Operation Bearhug initiative launched by the Office of the Medical Director. "By taking that child away from whatever is happening, and giving them something soft to focus on helps them out." says Dr. Wright, a child psychologist with the Lakeview Medical Directors Office. These bears are now issued in all Lakeview Emergency Vehicles in a variety of colors. "Hopefully we won't need to use them too often, but when we do have to, we're sure it'll ease the minds of our struggling youth." With Channel 9 Lakeview, I'm Mike Litoris.

A Lakeview County EMT closing the rear doors to an ambulance, preparing to transport a man from a local mechanic shop after a transmission from a vehicle dropped on his legs and left him pinned for a brief period. The mechanic has a broken right leg and various lacerations, but will be in stable, non-life threatening condition.

Pats on the back all around for Lakeview Law Enforcement, who all came together this morning to look for a missing person. Roger Frederick; an 81 year old male with multiple medical concerns went missing from his Los Santos residence around 11 PM last night. Los Santos Police issued the request to Lakeview County to begin a search for Frederick in the Rural Los Santos area. Police, Sheriffs, and Peace Officers from Lakeview began searching immediately, and just before 6 AM, Frederick was located at a gas station just off of Route 1. Frederick was unable to tell where he was or how he got there. Lakeview EMS officials took Frederick to local health care facilities to have an assessment done on his well-being.

Lakeview County thrives on its local businesses and farms. Quite often, our Police and Protective Services Officers make stops at the local fruit stands and area farms to communicate and sometimes even purchase from the owners.
