  1. Since re-installing GTA and only running LCPDFR with IVDashcam I've only crashed twice in the last week or so. I had to take that hit and skip out on some great mods but the game runs great. Is there a modder you can recommend that modifies ingame cars? I'm looking for a little bit of change in my fleet. Thanks.
  2. Newegg, Tigerdirect, Amazon, Dell, etc. And don't sell yourself short. Building a computer isn't as hard as you'd think. You can save a ton putting it together yourself.

  5. Yes. Run your uninstall wizard then clear everything left (config files, saves, etc.) and see if that helps. Hopefully someone will come through here a more direct solution. You're not trying to load a save game that existed prior to your uninstallation, are you? It may be corrupt. Ignore what I said about tooling around in the registry until someone can confirm it. I can't find anything on the internet supporting that for Vista/7.
  6. How I used to tackle this was a manual uninstall then clean every trace of the program giving me issues from the registry. I would wait until someone else comes in with a second opinion and much more know-how than me before even considering that, though. I haven't had a reason to mess with the registry since XP.
  7. Possibly SDK shots until the graphics are optimized for each console. I'm not sweating graphics too much because they're limited by the systems anyway. The more resources they dump into a hi-res cigarette butt the less they can use on adding life to the open world.
  8. 419 scam. They won't ask for your information right away. They lull you in by getting all friendly-like and personal then bleed you. Forward the email to a scam baiting site like 419Eater(dot)com - if those guys are even around anymore - and if it's a big enough operation they'll take care of the rest. They also give good tips on how to mess with these people if you prefer your harassment first-hand. I promise many larfs if that's the route you choose. But be cautious about it by replying to them on a different email account and use Skype for calls rather than your actual phone. Also, run a thorough virus scan on your computer if you haven't already and avoid opening attachments from senders you do not know.
  9. With a class-act request like: "What I want is fairly simple if you ask me", "Im willing to negotiate" and "I appreciate anything, even failed efforts!" I'm surprised there aren't already 50 of these in the download section. What's the deal, jerk modelers?

  11. I wanna say Nortons is quarantining your file. I wrestled with mine for about ten minutes until I was able to get OpenIV. Here's what I had to go through before I got it to work: Download Told it contained Suspicious.Cloud.2 Downloaded again Added exception Executed Told it contained Suspicious.Cloud.2 Downloaded once more Added exception Installed Told it contained Suspicious.Cloud.2 Beat my head in with a heavy object after adding the umpteenth exception Ressurected myself and finally installed

  13. Multiple people have provided excellent answers, but I'll respond from my experiences and try to keep it within the parameters of the game. -How/when a cop would and would not use his lights/sirens Why you would has been thoroughly covered. Not recommended when in proximity of a domestic in progress, crime involving drugs, etc., in order to gather or preserve evidence. However, the officer must use his/her discretion when their actions may present a risk to the public, ie. burning through a red light at a blind intersection. -How/when cops use unmarked or partially marked vehichles Traffic Enforcement and Investigators, primarily. -When a cop would use deadly force To prevent serious injury (usually defined by local Use Of Forse SOP) or preserve life. I'll go a little deeper into this; if a subject is merely holding a weapon at his side he has the means and opportunity to use that weapon, but intent is where things usually get cloudy and I would waste an entire page describing different scenarios. In the end the decision falls solely on you, as you're the one who has to justify your actions (in-game, not so much). In LCPDFR I respond to most call-outs with my taser at the ready as it's always easier to justify less-than-lethal use of force. Active shooter, not so much. Keep in mind your firearm's sole purpose is to cause death, not warn, wound or disable. Shooting out tires or firing into the air are usually unauthorized actions for your typical patrolman. -When/if a cop would ever use his vehicle as a weapon In regards to local SOP, this action is probably never "authorized". However, a tactical and controlled ramming of a subject with your vehicle can be (and has been) justified. Vehicle-on-vehicle, however, requires specific training in order to utilize. If you're that dedicated to your roleplay I'd suggest developing your own EVOC/PIT course in-game so you can develop your skills. -When would a cop call off a chase When the subject's actions and officer's pursuit have the potential to become a safety risk to the public. You can choose to back off and keep the subject in view, or end the chase altogether. Unfortunately the AI will do everything it can to ram the vehicle off the road until the subject dismounts, smashing tons of peds in the process. Your safest option, depending on your play style, would probably be to utilize air support and roleplay from there when the car you're chasing has a few more ponies than yours. Realistically, the officer will radio ahead and other units will attempt to establish a road block or determine the subject's next stop where they can safely apprehend them. -What are the different ways a cop would respond to a call i.e. obeying regular traffic laws/slightly modified traffic laws/going full on lights and sirens full "safe" speed Codes have already been mentioned. Some are dictated by SOP while others will be at your (the officer's) discretion. The SOP I adhere to allows ten miles per hour over the speed limit. Others give much more leeway as they consider the officer's driving experience and EVOC training. If you're going airborne over Liberty City's many bumps it's best just to throttle back and wait for turns or other obstacles to slow the subject down so you can catch up. Drive only as fast as you can control, use situational awareness and anticipate obstacles at every turn or intersection.
