To be honest i never heard of such a Problem befor. Butthe Vehicles do work in game? In that caseit means they have to be somewhere. Are you opening the right .img file?

You could try to use a commandline. Or simply remove some high poly car mods. About the commandline: Go to your GTAIV main folder and create a txt called "commandline" Then type in: -norestriction -nomemrestrict
