Georgia Department of Public safety has three departments under them:
Georgia State Patrol
Motor Carrier Compliance Division
Capitol Police
GSP they are troopers. MCCD and Capitol police are Officers, but all three have state wide jurisdiction.
GSP mostly handles the interstates , but in some of the smaller counties they answer calls, conduct traffic stops, handle accidents, handle officer involved accidents, and traffic fatalities.
MCCD handles the trucks, weight stations etc. They have state wide jurisdiction. They can also pull over regular vehicles as well
Capitol Police some of the senior guys handle security at the capitol along with the GSP recruits. The other Capitol police officers handle the little calls around the capitol, and lots of traffic enforcement. They also have state wide jurisdiction.
The Chief of GSP is ultimately GSP, MCCD, and Capitol Police's Boss / Chief. He controls all divisions.
