Well I have had the privilege of driving in real life on duty the Crown Victoria, Explorer, and the Taurus when I was a beat officer along with now that I am on a specialized unit. Starting with the Crown Victoria - Those vehicles were built to last! You can drive that car and not worry about a thing breaking unlike the newer vehicles. The only thing I hated about the crown vic is that I felt like I was sitting a hole. Taurus - It definitely was an upgrade from the Crown Victoria with the response when you press on the throttle, but It doesn't sound no where near the V8 engine of the Crown Victoria. In a law enforcement officer stand point the car is really small inside when you have all that equipment in it. I am a taller guy so with the partition you can only take your seat so far back. Explorer- Our agency has rolled these out within the last year. When I first got behind the wheel of one I was in love! The same equipment is in that vehicle just like the other vehicles and I have so much room especially when I have a partner with me. We are definitely not bumping elbows. Now with the way people drive now a days I like being in the explorer one because I'm up higher and 2 its an SUV I just feel more safe. Overall I like the suv. Your patrol vehicle is your office for 8,12 hours a day we don't get paid enough as it is we need a comfortable ride.
