  1. A buddy of mine showed me a music video from them a few years back. I'm not going to link it here since I don't know if it is against the rules or not. But to summarize the video...it is nothing but male genitalia and the song is about not getting circumcised. Nevertheless it was so weird that me and my buddy thought it was hilarious, now we always try to top each other for the weirdest and must screwed up music videos we can find.
  2. Ramp is the way to go! So smooth, don't get smacked by the rotor wash/jet blast, and no turning to go out the door, just walk straight off the back.
  3. That does sound nice, the C-130 can get a little cramped. Haven't done a door jump since airborne school though, all of my jumps have been ramp (minus the Blackhawk obviously). Ramp is so much nicer.
  4. Yeah the little "seat belt" they put across the door doesn't seem like it will do too much if you start falling out other than smack you in the face. The Blackhawk pilots liked to bank hard, not sure if they remembered we were back there or not. The ride didn't last too long though, probably about 3 minutes after taking off I was already scooching my ass out of the bird. The other big concern I had was the Blackhawk we were in had the pylons with fuel tanks attached on the side of the aircraft by the doors so I was worried about smacking my head on my way out. All in all it was actually a fun jump and I would do it again.
  5. I did notice that I was falling a lot longer than I am used to. It felt like it took my chute forever to open, I think it was the first time I contemplated pulling my reserve but the I felt the opening shock and was relieved. Haven't got to jump a C-17 yet, only C-130s, UH-60 Blackhawk, and the CH-47. Blackhawks were fun, didn't enjoy riding on the edge of the helicopter as much as I thought I would. I kept on worrying that I was going to fall out which is a weird concern for someone with a parachute on their back and is planning on jumping out anyway but I couldn't help it.
  6. The British use the UK variants, I'm not sure if anyone else does. I know a few other countries such as Spain also use Chinooks but I don't know what model exactly. I am in the US military though so we use our own models.
  7. Whenever I have a question about how to pronounce it I usually just look it up on Youtube. Some really commonly mispronounced car names that really irritate me is Audi (people sometimes say AH-DI instead of OW-DI) and Porsche (it is POR-SHA not PORSH).
  8. This is the CH-47F Chinook. Not sure what the HC Mk6 is, sounds like an export UK variant.
  9. Fair point. I had seemed to remember a shooting in California a couple years back but I can't remember if it happened before or after the Michael Brown case. Like I said earlier, this was just a hypothesis I had. Nevertheless, it was not the main point of my original comment.
  10. Well then you and I are of the same background because that is where my AIT was too. Are you a F, G, M, or T?
  11. Right, that is the obvious but the panic button (at least in the agencies in my area) is for when you don't have time to key up on the radio or you can't because someone else is already keyed up. Usually the if the panic button is pressed it means you are in so much trouble that you can't even key up on the radio to tell someone.
  12. MPs are not anything like police officers and, in my opinion, what they do on a daily basis is very boring. So no, I would never consider being an MP. If I were going to do anything law related in the military I would consider CID because they actually get to do investigations. Shit, I would be a paralegal specialist in a JAG office before I became an MP. No offense to any MPs out there, just not my cup of tea.
  13. There have been numerous cases where police were targeted because they were police officers and it was well documented that these people wanted to get pay back for what had been done. I'm not saying every single one of those 51 cases is because of retribution but there are a fair amount that were and there are some others that we don't know the motive.
  14. A few cases? 51 cases is more than a few and it is a pretty significant rise, 89% to be exact. 51 deaths is a good chunk out of the total 133 deaths that happened last year.
  15. I'm not saying that all police killings are a result of current events, I am just hypothesizing that the overall rise in police attacks and killings are a result of the events over the past year.
  16. I don't normally share stuff from my personal life on here but I thought some of you might enjoy this. Today I did my first static line jump from a CH-47 Chinook and I loved it; it is my new favorite aircraft to jump from now (UH-60 is my second favorite with the C-130 following close behind). This Chinook is brand new and was just delivered (I heard it had less than 50 hours on it) so we had the honor of being some of it's first passengers (if only for a few minutes). Unfortunately I do not have a GoPro (soon hopefully) to mount to myself while doing the jumps so the videos were shot from the assembly point on the drop zone with my Samsung Galaxy S5, so you'll have to excuse the awful quality of video. Video was shot at Malmsheim DZ in Malmsheim, Germany just west of Stuttgart. Our jump was from 1,500 feet using MC-6 parachutes. In the second video you can see guys walking out to the helicopter, those are the freefall guys going up to do their freefall jump from about 10,000 feet. I am trying to get manifested for another CH-47 jump next week so hopefully I will have more footage to share with you guys.Enjoy.
  17. Sure it could just be a random rise in killings but common sense and logic would indicate that the rise in killings happened the same year that Michael Brown was killed and these protests started, so putting two and two together it would make sense to come to the conclusion that these killings are most likely a result of current events. However, my overall point is not to try and correlate the two, it is just to say that the decrease in law enforcement deaths doesn't automatically mean a decrease in attacks on police officers or that they are in less danger than they were 2 or 3 years ago. I can't attest to what the media is reporting because, as I have already said, I don't watch a lot of American news here in Germany. If they are in fact reporting that it is a witch hunt for police officers then yes, I would say that is a bit of an exaggeration, but I will say there has been an increase of people targeting police because of events of the past year. I'm not a huge fan of the "_____ lives matter" movements, I understand the message those groups are trying to convey but in my opinion it is pointless. I don't think the Blue Lives Matter is a demonstration of fear, it is just a counter point to the Black Lives Matter because people are seeing an increase in attacks and criticism on police.
  18. Maybe in this forum it is but I haven't really seen it else where. Also while doing some research to reinforce my point that it is more dangerous now for police officers than it was a couple years ago I tried looking up the number of cops shot this year but were not killed because I believe that the number of attacks is on the rise. Unfortunately I didn't find any statistic for that I did find this article that shows an FBI study that shows while the total number of officer deaths is declining the number of officers felonious killed in the line of duty has spiked by 89%. And no, this article is not from a conservative news outlet. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/fbi-number-cops-killed-duty-has-spiked
  19. 1. It depends on the agency. I know in Florida almost all the campus PDs have the same or better starting salary as the surrounding agencies in that area. I actually looked at applying to University of South Florida Campus PD, they had a starting salary of around $45k which was the same starting salary as Hillsborough County SO and only $5k less than Tampa PD. They also offered discounted tuition at USF which is a pretty common offer for most of the campus PDs in Florida. 2. I would imagine the job growth would depend on the growth of the school. If you work for a campus PD at a university that is always growing or really big then the growth will be decent but if you work for a really small community college or something it might be stagnate. 3. The last question would really depend on the agency, most agencies provide their officers with all the uniforms and equipment they need but if the agency is really small I guess it is possible they might have you buy some of your own stuff, however I have never heard of that.
  20. I am not in a sworn position right now as I am in the military but prior to enlisting I graduated from the police academy and got my certification to be a police officer in the state of Florida. I know of at least one person on here who is a full time police officer and makes a few smaller mods like textures however I won't name them since I don't know if they want it put out there.
  21. They didn't train us on those kinds of batons but some of the techniques in that video are the same. I found this video from the US Marshal Service and it is pretty much the exact same training we received. It talks about proper stance, striking techniques, defensive techniques, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=issbn1mR2Do
  22. This is the first I'm hearing of people calling for thugs to be killed. I haven't heard that at all.
  23. Question has already been answered but yes, it is a Federal Signal Vista, one of my favorite older style lightbars.
  24. I have graduated the police academy and did the 8 hour block of instruction on the collapsible baton to get certified on it. If used correctly it shouldn't cause any serious injuries however there is a very real possibility of messing people up. You are essentially being hit with a metal pipe, it is going to hurt. There is a certain technique you are supposed to use when striking someone with the baton and you are supposed to target the arms and legs. The ideal target for the baton is the thigh since you want to hit something that is very meaty and has lots of mass for maximum effectiveness. As for your question on whether the taser or the baton is a higher level in the force matrix, it depends on the agency however, most force matrices I have seen place the taser above or at the same level as the baton.
  25. There was more than just one protest that was using that chant and I don't watch Fox News so I can't attest to what narrative they were pushing. Believe me, I am happy that there is a downward trend in law enforcement deaths but that doesn't change the fact that more and more people are against law enforcement and want to do harm to law enforcement officers due to current events. And my opinions are not based on anything the US media is putting out because I live in Germany and very rarely see any American news outlets on TV.
