  1. Go for it, move outside the US. I love it when people threaten to move to another country if a law gets passed or a person gets elected because I know they are just talking out their ass. And if you are serious I can tell you that as an American living in a foreign country you will quickly realize how much you will miss living in the US and all the things we take for granted. I always though living in Germany would be awesome, and to a certain extent it still is, but it made me realize how lucky I am to be an American and live in the US.
  2. You realize the minimum wage hasn't been keeping up with inflation for at least the past 10 years right? Side note: Do you go to McDonalds and expect good food? It is McDonalds, if you want a good burger then go to a real burger place.
  3. Things like this don't frustrate me anymore, you get used to it. I now find them very funny. I love his allegation at the end of the officers threatening to shoot him, icing on the cake.
  4. Based on that comment I'm going to assume you have never had a full time job. How does one have a "backup job"? Do you go to an employer and say "I'd like to apply for a job but I don't want to work here just yet, this will just be my backup job in case something bad happens to me in the future."? Or by backup job do you mean having a part time job on the side in addition to your full time job? Either way neither of those are very realistic.
  5. Didn't I just tell you about my neighbor who got laid off from his job due to downsizing? He was successful until his company laid him off. You are saying that it is his fault his company got downsized?
  6. No you haven't. You have said something different almost every post you have made on this thread. ^ See? After I said something to you about it being their fault you then changed it to "most likely their fault".
  7. Well despite what some people think you can't just go around saying and doing whatever you want. Saying what you think sounds good on paper but if we really did do that then we would be getting into more conflicts and screwing ourselves more and more. There is a time and a place for everything and Trump doesn't know when that is. Look at the Cold War, if American presidents just said what they wanted during the Cold War we might not be here today. It took a certain amount of political correctness to keep us from exchanging nukes with the Russians. Are you saying that those presidents should have said "to hell with PC, I'm just going to say what I want"?
  8. Lol, what? That is what I just said. If you read what I posted I said that you said "it is most likely their fault" which is exactly what you just said. So the people who are born poor in a part of the country with poor education and poor social services are somehow to blame for their own poverty? Guess they should have picked to be born into a rich family or in the case of my neighbor should have saw the future and not worked for a company that was going to lay him off due to downsizing.
  9. Russia is bluffing. I doubt they have the balls to go any further in Eastern Europe and the only reason they have gotten away with what they did in Ukraine is because Ukraine is not part of NATO. I highly doubt Russia will have the balls to do do the same thing they did in Ukraine to one of the Baltic NATO states like Latvia, Lithuania, or Estonia because they know that will invoke Article 5 Collective Defense. I'm not aware of any new immigration problems with the UK or Greece. The problems the UK has been having isn't anything new and it isn't particularly bad either. And as far as Greece is concerned I haven't heard of any immigration problems whatsoever. I think considering Greece's economic situation illegal immigration is the least of their worries. I think using Reagan and Bush as an example of "cracking the whip" is not good. Both Reagan and Bush have put us in situations that only made matters worse in the middle east. Reagan provided money and weapons to the Mujahideen in Afghanistan when the Russians invaded during the 1980s and many of the veteran Mujahideen fighters who fought the Russians in the 1980s are the same people we are fighting in Afghanistan now (Bin Laden was a veteran of that war). And George W. Bush invaded Iraq with questionable evidence of WMDs and only made the situation worse in Iraq by destabilizing the government. Saddam was no saint but he did keep that region of the world in check, even if it was through brutality.
  10. You literally just said that if they are failing it is their fault. Look at the quotes below. You said that if someone is having financial troubles then it is most likely their fault. Even though you don't know their circumstances you are confident enough to say it is most likely their fault.
  11. Be angry at the Russian government, not the US and EU. We aren't the ones invading Ukraine and sending fighters to intercept aircraft in the Baltic Sea.
  12. If you don't know everyone's situation then how do you know who's fault it is? Back during the 2008 financial crisis I met someone who lost their job because the company couldn't afford to keep them and they were having a very hard time finding a decent paying job to support their family. You are going to tell me that it was his fault? And why do you keep trying to put words in my mouth? I never said that welfare is perfect or that every single person on welfare needs it. This is the first time I have had anyone call me out on things I never said or even hinted at. I understand perfectly what you are saying; every response I have had to you I have repeated what you said and explained why that is wrong. You just keep changing your position and try to put words in my mouth.
  13. That sentence right there, that is what I am talking about. You just said yourself that you don't know everyone's situation yet you are confident enough to say that it is probably their fault? This is the most inconsistent debate I have ever had. You started out by saying that "everyone on welfare is lazy" then you changed it to "not everyone on welfare is lazy just some of them" and now to "if you are poor enough to need welfare then you did something wrong and it is most likely your fault". Every time you say something you immediately contradict it by saying something completely different.
  14. I don't want to derail this thread too much but I couldn't bite my tongue on this one. You think the US's sanctions and exercises are what is wrong with that picture? What about Russia's annexation of Crimea and covert support to the rebels in Eastern Ukraine? Are we supposed to just let that slide like we did with Hitler in the 1930s when he started annexing Austria and the Czech Republic? Funny how Putin is using almost the exact same excuse Hitler used too.
  15. Is this some kind of reverse psychology? It seems like you are trying to make it sound like I'm the one making the generalizations when it is you. You keep saying you are trying to say there are two groups of people on welfare but when you talk about welfare recipients you are talking as if they want to be there. You are the one putting these people into one group, not me. Oh man, I think you just solved everyone's issues! How has no one thought of "downsizing" or "shopping at cheaper stores" or "selling their car"? /endsarcasm. You think that people can just sell a car or start shopping at cheaper stores and it will just magically fix all their problems? The issue is much more complicated than that. For example, the last place I lived at in the states had horrible public transportation and few places were within a reasonable walking distance. So for the people in my county who had one car (usually a beater car) and they were barely getting by would you suggest for them to sell their car to help make ends meet? Sell the car that is their only means of transportation to get to work and to go to the grocery store? This is a pretty simple scenario I've come up with too, it can get a lot more complicated than that. So you admit to not knowing their circumstances but you have some magical power to know they are doing something wrong, you don't know what it is but you know they are doing something wrong? And you act like being homeless for a year isn't that big a deal. Being homeless can take a huge toll on someone especially for an extended period of time.
  16. Which is great and all except most people don't know jack shit about diplomacy and neither does Donald Trump. We need someone who has political experience not a man who is used to saying and doing whatever he wants with little to no consequences.
  17. So you are making an assumption that everyone protesting and rioting in Ferguson have the time to do so because they are on welfare? Sure you could have taken your class for one year but what will happen to you during that one year that you are not working or only working part time and don't have enough of an income to support yourself or your family. There are lots of people who drop out of school because they can't afford it or they have to find somewhere to work to help bring in money for their family. There is no one size fits all for peoples financial situations. What worked for you family might not work for others. I have met people that have been working their asses off for years and their situation stays the same. My issue is with the broad generalizations you are making about people you don't know anything about. Where did I make any mention of the economy? You keep saying that if you are on welfare it doesn't mean you are "stupid or lazy" yet every time you mention people on welfare you say things like "people who didn't make smart decisions" or "children of incompetent parents" which makes it sound like your true opinion of people who are on welfare are on it because of something they did and it is their fault that they are in the position they are in.
  18. Hmmmm, lets take a look at what I just quoted below. You said an entire community is "too lazy to get off their butts" and when Riley24 asked you if you seriously thought tens of thousands of people were choosing to be poor you said "Yes, absolutely". To me that sounds like someone saying everyone on welfare is lazy, because that is what you just said. And what do you mean it doesn't help anything other than the recipients? Of course it doesn't, I don't get welfare so why should I expect welfare to benefit me in any way? Welfare is something that the government provides to people who don't fully have the means to provide for themselves. As a citizen is there some kind of benefit I should be receiving from welfare? There are other things that people can not approve of besides war. Just because a Republican disapproves of a president doesn't mean they disapprove every single thing he has done. Is saying that "most people who are on welfare are on it because they are lazy" any better than "all people on welfare are lazy"? You are essentially saying the same thing, just changing the way you are saying it.
  19. So just because you would be fine living off welfare if you were going to live in a low income area means that every person on welfare has the same mindset? My original point was that your claim of all people on welfare are just lazy leeches sucking the tax money from hard working individuals is unfair to the many people who need welfare. Republicans for some reason want to make poor people public enemy number one and blame them for all the financial issues in America yet don't see any problem with things like spending trillions of dollars trying to fix a country on the other side of the world that doesn't really want us there.
  20. Yes, speaking his mind all the time isn't necessarily a good thing though. Part of being a leader is knowing what to say and when to say it, if you go around saying whatever you are thinking right now you are going to piss people off and the last thing we need right now is to be ruining diplomatic relationships with countries we have worked so hard to get on better terms with. Not to mention the absolutely crazy and racist things he has said. I have no respect for him.
  21. No, I have never lived in a ghetto. I am not afraid to admit that I was raised in an upper-middle class family and always lived in nice houses in nice neighborhoods. I have spent a fair amount of time working in rough areas so I do have some experience with them (granted, not as much as someone who has lived there). So you are now saying that the reason people want to live in the ghetto is because they like the atmosphere and culture? That makes no sense, just because you make more money doesn't mean you have to live in a nicer part of town. If they want to they could make more money and still live where they want. You think they are saying "oh I better not get a job or else I will have to move out of this neighborhood because this neighborhood is only for lazy jobless people."?
  22. I have never driven on the A2 but I have driven the A8 many times and it is always backed up with huge staus every 30km or so. The stretch between Munich and Ulm is the worst. I was coming back from a weekend at Bertchesgarden and it took me almost 5 hours to get back to Stuttgart and it only took me about 3 hours to get to Bertchesgarden in the first place.
  23. There were two separate investigations; one for the actual shooting involving Officer Wilson and Michael Brown and one investigation conducted by the DOJ of the entire Ferguson Police Department on allegations of racial profiling among other unethical/illegal things. Riley24 is referring to that second investigation. While the investigation of Officer Wilson's shooting found him to be justified in his actions and did not commit any wrong doing the second investigation found that there was wide spread issues within the Ferguson Police Department as a whole and that there were many racial injustices committed by the department. So you are saying that the Baltimore ghettos are just one big celebration central? Why is it that everybody else is wanting to live in these neighborhoods if it is just one big party? My neighborhood has lots of cookouts and social gatherings, do I live in a ghetto? You can't fault anyone for having a good time. Do you think that since these people have no job they should be forbidden from having social gatherings?
  24. Yep, just seemed like big city traffic. Most of those people did the best they could to get out of the way. No matter where you go there will always be a few assholes who aren't paying attention or just freeze up when lights and sirens are behind them but that is just part of the job.
