  1. Making it snow on a website around Christmas isn't exactly an original idea. Neither site stole the concept from anyone. Making it snow on a website around Christmas isn't exactly an original idea. Neither site stole the concept from anyone.
  2. There was no call for that. Be civil.
  3. So make a better one. Out of curiosity, what do you mean, they suck? What issues are there with it?
  4. The forum is at reduced functionality to fix errors. Sniper was definitely not banned.
  5. And I am horrified that you think cold-blooded torture ever could be justified. Perhaps I should clarify - I didn't mean that you shouldn't post what you posted. I mean that I disagree in the strongest possible way with the idea contained in the post.
  6. I still think we should move this thread to Website Support, since there's clearly some sort of site bug that causes you guys to see something in the upper-left corner. While a logo would be nice to have, I'm not sure why you're seeing our nonexistent logo, or why you think there's a "countdown" thing.
  7. I have a huge issue with what you posted. Torture isn't just "a little extreme", ineseri. It is so offensively off the entire spectrum of conduct that should even be considered in a remotely civilized society that it's legitimately horrifying to think that someone would put it out there in a throwaway comment. The deaths of twenty kids is tragic. The prospect of state-sponsored torture in retribution for past crimes is infinitely worse. Torture is unjustified, full stop, even if it's in an attempt to prevent future crimes (which it sucks at doing, by the way). Using it in response to past crimes is even worse.
  8. I believe that's actually off-topic for this thread.
  9. Actually, the hat on my posts is *me* getting a little festive. I used Sniper's changes as a model, but I'm the one who added the hats to my own posts.
  10. Theoretically, possible. Rather unlikely to say the least, but possible.
  11. Sniper may be king, but Sam's still tyrant.
  12. Then what's your avatar? To me, that looks like a shoulder patch, and not a badge.
  13. Lifeless robots don't know what's going on.
  14. I'm not sure what you mean. We could have that policy and have a scheduled release in 2020, for all you know. Jay never specified the initial release date we would have if people did not ask about release dates.
  15. @Sam From what I can tell, Great Britain isn't a country, but it isn't just a name. It's an island. As in, the geographic thingy which consists of land surrounded on all sides by water, but smaller than a continent. So "Great Britain" does refer to something specific, but it's a *geographic* feature, not a *human* feature (like political boundaries are). @Michael Well, the UK and Ireland are both in the European Union, so I'd say that the answer politically is "yes". Geologically, the island of Great Britain is almost part of continental Europe - the separation of the English Channel took place under 500,000 years ago, as a result of floods cutting out the Channel. Even 10,000 years ago, during the last ice age, they were also connected by land. So, geologically, also "yes".
  16. Including Sam, which was sort of his point there. (by the way: Great Britain is in the UK, but not vice versa - Northern Ireland isn't on Great Britain, which is properly the island containing England, Scotland, and Wales. Instead, Northern Ireland is on the separate island of Ireland.)
  17. Not a coincidence. There is a pattern to what pages it appears on. It's just not immediately apparent.
  18. Aborting pursuits (or, better, transferring to aerial primary pursuit and radio cars staying close but driving more normally) for nonviolent crimes is sensible, and departments should do it more often. Pursuits are one of the most dangerous things an officer does, and have a really high risk of killing the officer, the suspect, or innocent bystanders.
  19. The reason it is on some pages and not others is a result of the method used to create it.
  20. Yeah, where'd you think the staff avatars came from? We were already getting calendar shots, so we figured we'd get Christmas shots as well.
  21. You are incorrect in that assumption. The Christmas theme is most prominently visible in that thread, but is not exclusively confined to the thread. It appears in assorted other threads.
  22. Editing textures created by someone else is a different matter. My rule of thumb is always that personal use is fine, because no one needs to ever know; for sharing, you need permission.
