OriginalLikeYou reacted to LtCarman in Inside SCS Software (Preview of DLC and American Truck Simulator)SCS Software is quickly becoming one of my favorite game developers. Euro Truck Simulator 2 was released 2 years ago, and they still regularly update it and add new features. As a matter of fact, they just released an update a couple days ago adding a 64-bit version of the game to Steam, as well as improving the look of the truck dealerships.
They also introduced the DAF XF Euro 6 not too long ago for free stating, "Even if trucks are eating considerable amount of company human and financial resources, we still resist the temptation to ask for money for the upcoming Euro Truck Simulator 2 standard truck models and will continue bringing them to you free of charge in future updates of the game. We feel that it's fair to ask for support from time to time with additional optional elements for the game, but the core experience is improved for everybody." That gives me a tremendous amount of respect for them. SCS will also be introducing a lighting and weather system overhaul in the near future...also for free.
I am absolutely ecstatic for American Truck Simulator and you bet your ass I will be buying it at release. Here is their development blog where you can find screenshots of ATS.

OriginalLikeYou reacted to Fiskey111 in Local PD CVPISo,
I live here in Massachusetts in a small town of about 4,000 people with no traffic lights or even blinking lights. It's a beautiful little town, the people are nice and so are the officers. We recently built a brand new police station (my picture) and it's gorgeous. At the end of this topic you might be thinking, why did they build a police station.... but the reason is because the police used to be in an old bar below an apartment with no jail cells, so they actually had to handcuff the criminals to the bar (I'm not kidding). Like every town, we have basically no money. However, our police cruisers are old. I dont know the years (I don't know how to tell by the bodies), but here are some pictures.

Two years ago the town paid $10,000 each cruiser to completely redo them so we wouldn't have any issues. However, we only have 3 cruisers so they get a lot of abuse. Well, this year the cruisers actually started breaking down on the way to calls, and our police actually started missing calls because of this. So, the town came up with a plan to raise $40,000 in order to get 2 brand new FPIU (some sort of deal they got, probably cause they feel bad for us). Because we're a town the people had to vote on this in order for it to go through (as far as I know it's a New England thing, I've heard that everywhere else isn't like us). But, it went for a vote and ended up being 60%-40% no. Why? Who knows.
So, the townspeople (one's who voted yes) actuallly banded together to raise the $40k on our own. We have a town FB page, and we actually have raised about $5k, with the local bank contributing another $5k (I wonder why, haha- I bet they want the police there if they get robbed....). But I figured I'd share this story so we can A) Realize that for some reason people don't like their taxes getting raised a little bit for one year and B) People are able to band together to make things work, even though the majority don't like it.
Let me know what you think! I'm interested in your opinions on this matter! What would your town have done, do you think your town would have voted yes?
(And can anyone tell me by the pics what year my towns cruisers are?)
Thanks!

OriginalLikeYou got a reaction from Zelyth in Baby in Coma After Police ‘Grenade’ Dropped in Crib During Drug RaidThis. Imagine being the officer, knowing what happened. Also, flashbangs are safer for the bad guys too. And, if this was a drug house, what the heck is a kid doing in there anyhow? My thought sure wouldn't be "bad criminals in here, but don't forget about the wee babies and fluffy puppies". It is a terrible accident. The cops should pay. We shouldn't judge the officers decision or him as a person or officer. I'm gonna shush now.

Greentext story:
>go to install new police bike
>take the usual backups, install handling line
>get in game, bike is floating in midair???
>pedestrian barely nudges bike
>bike's wheel separates from forks, goes flying downwards
>bike begins to spin about erratically, eventually explodes
>spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what's going wrong with it
>eventually revert all changes to handling lines
>get in-game, spawn bike
>bike's model hasn't even been replaced
>my fucking face when
Needless to say I feel like a bloody moron right about now.

OriginalLikeYou reacted to Zelyth in Baby in Coma After Police ‘Grenade’ Dropped in Crib During Drug RaidI can't even fathom why you think that they deliberately flashbanged a child in a crib?
Police pay the bills. It was an accident. Flashbanging rooms like that is safer for officers, you can't just take a quick peek into a room that could possibly have an armed individual inside. Plus, you can't surprise them, they're not deaf, they've probably heard the commotion in the house already, and if they were armed they'd be ready to shoot at any sign of movement by the door. And that's how a police officer takes a bullet to the eye.
You should not be doubting the procedures used by police at that time, there is quite a lot of pressure on officers in situations like that, and they might not have time to think 100% about what they're doing. Accidents happen. I'm not mad at this story now, but if the police don't pay the bills and make some sort of apology, I'll be mad then.

OriginalLikeYou reacted toDeactivated Memberin Baby in Coma After Police ‘Grenade’ Dropped in Crib During Drug RaidIt's not like the officer intentionally did that. Hence it being a mistake.

OriginalLikeYou got a reaction from AgentCharles in Baby in Coma After Police ‘Grenade’ Dropped in Crib During Drug RaidHe could have rolled it, right. He could have looked, and gotten shot in the face, right. I agree there should be payment, I agree it was a mistake. I'm also tired of everyone sitting on our couches and judging what's going through the officers heads when things happen. I can think of two good examples of this right now. I'm not saying anyone here is guilty of judging, I'm just saying it's something I see happening more and more.

OriginalLikeYou reacted to AgentCharles in Baby in Coma After Police ‘Grenade’ Dropped in Crib During Drug RaidIt's nobody's fault, it sounds like an accident to me.
However, I do agree, they should pay the bills.

OriginalLikeYou got a reaction from Oatmeal in RCMPShort time lurker, first time poster. LOVE LCPDFR, out of all the Steam games I have, all 4 of them, I play this the most.
Anyway, on to the reason I decided to post. I don't know how many of you heard about this. I live near Edmonton, AB, in the Great White North. Right beside us is St Albert, AB. There were two RCMP officers shot in the line of duty, one didn't survive, one is on a long road to recovery
The reason I wanted to post this is because I want to show people there's still some hope. I was at the Edmonton Oilers vs Minnesota Wild NHL game last night. Constable Wynn, the officer who passed away, had three sons. They were honoured with the first puck drop last night. That in itself is pretty classy of the Oilers. What got me, however, is the generous standing ovation, not once, but three times, for those kids. When they got on the ice, when the puck was dropped, and when they left, everyone was standing. It was so loud in that building, you would think we were at the Stanley Cup game and the home team just won. They also had a moment of silence for Wynn. Was very touching. Anyway, I'll go back to silence and creepy lurking now. Have fun!

OriginalLikeYou reacted to ineseri in Good Ways to ask a Guy to a Dance?"Hi, do you want to dance?". Works like a charm.
Or if you are going to "a dance"; "Hi, do you want to go to the dance with me?" - It's not the easiest thing to do, and it takes courage. Never fun to gamble with feelings, putting yourself on the line, but it may be worth it in the end :) Good luck!
