Vegas725 reacted to t0y in Signing out.Hi whoever is reading this,
So it has been a very long time coming, and I have thought about this a few times but I am finally quitting LSPDFR and probably GTA. I know you're probably wondering why did I just post a picture of a cop car I modeled then, well that was before I realized I was quitting and demotivated thanks to chapperoni for giving me a kick in the butt. There have been MANY things leading up to this decision, and of course it isn't an easy one to make ive been in the community for almost 2 years now and have enjoyed a lot of it (ish) and found new hobbies of mine like modeling and graphic design, and subsequently police cars and has directed my attention at a law enforcement career in the future (maybe, probably not though.)
Anyway here are some reasons why I am leaving, I was going to keep this brief but really fuck that, not here to start an argument or anything either thank you to the staff for your help and im not trying to call anyone out of course just hoping this will open your eyes if you want to keep your mod alive.
- Toxic, toxic modding community. Not that this is necessarily the mod's fault or the general community's fault but man are the modders on this toxic. For those of you who have yet to see what goes on behind the scenes it is just full of negativity, immaturity, and constant shit talking no matter what you do. It is hard to spend money on ZM, and lord knows the time to make models for a plugin for a video game as your hobby just to have half of the modding community tear your shit up because your lightbar is an inch too high or your antenna is curved a bit, or god forbid you dont have a cone and a bag in your trunk.
- Inactive and/or generally unsupportive staff team. Again not trying to call any of you out, and those active ones you know who you are and I fully support you but those who arent its not very great. I haven't seen 90% of the staff team even so much as comment on a post in a very long time, which by all means is great go have your life dont focus on some police mod for a video game, but you cant expect the community to stick around. Someone can post a shitty, obviously troll model or livery and it wont get taken down for 6 hours just to have the whole community berating them and reporting them but no one doing anything about it, or they can leave a 1 star review saying some pointless shit on a mod you spent weeks on and guess what... you report it and nothing happens, just sad how unsupportive the staff is.
- NO UPDATES! It has been 1 1/2 years since the last update for LSPDFR, with an experienced team behind it, a supportive community, and plenty of staff working on it nothing has been done. I know I know "BUT 0.4 IS COMING ITS GOING TO CHANGE THE GAME!!!!" simply... no. An animation has been added. And RDE and EUP have been watered down and then added. Not only is it not good, its just bad, not trying to be rude but nobody wants that, I could care less for stop and frisk or having mods that are already in my game dimmed down, we need an actual update. I know what you're thinking: "t0y you IGNORANT SLUT! YOU ARE A MODELER YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GAME DEVELOPMENT AND SCRIPTING!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK YOU FAT SLOB!" first of all im not fat, and that is very rude, second of all ITS BEEN A YEAR AND A HALF there have been so many scripts made, and huge game improving mods like from Albo that have taken less than a year in a half or PNWParksFan who has made an ENTIRE COAST GUARD CALLOUTS MOD in less than that time that has 100x more content than that update, and those are all by one person not even a whole development team. Up until the 0.4 announcement I had just thought the scripters or creators or whatever you guys are called just ditched the whole mod which is really sad considering I have spent countless hours, even 100s of hours making content for this community on my own time, without asking for donations, or trying to sell godawful merchandise. I really would've expected more from you guys, and you've failed us.
- Honestly it's just boring. A repetitive mod that barely scratches the surface into anything police related. There are police chases, sure but you chase the guy for 4m, get run over by 100 cop cars "helping" you, pit the guy, shoot him, call a coroner, and drive away then rinse and repeat. No cordoning off the scene, calling investigators, directing traffic away from it, getting backup to come and park near the scene to help out, nothing that isn't action filled, like normal police work. It's just not enough to spend so much time on making models for, I would be willing to bet that there has been 5x as much time and effort spent on modeling for the community as I've seen from people like Matt who spends so much hard work on his models than the mod itself which is just silly. AGAIN because I know this will be taken the wrong way im not trying to call you guys out, I know you have a life, it's just a reason why im out of here.
Anyway to conclude. Yeah. Bye.
Thanks to all the people that I was friends with over the years, you know who you are (most of you are in Faux Policiers, if so this is repetitive and we're still going to talk to so not saying bye so this is pointless so special thanks to you guys: Emil, DudeMan would be cooler if this was your real name but fuck off, Eric, Jay, Rob, Alex, Maurice, Steven, Brad, Hank, Jake, Jed, Kevin, Kus, Luke, and Trevor sorry you're last but you're offline so your name is on the bottom of the list.
If you want to stay in touch my Discord is t0y#8617 and my Twitter is thet0y feel free to add me/follow me and we can chat. Still going to lurk around here and see what happens.

Vegas725 reacted toDeactivated Memberin How to "still" mod GTA V | For you dense moronsNo Roth, you bought a license to use the software. You do not own a single piece of software distributed with it. If you owned the software, you would also own the source code to the software. That's just how it works legally.
I'm by no means defending Rockstar or Take Two's actions here. If anything, I encourage people to fight back against it, but do not take the EULA as being irrelevant, because it's not. The reason I don't even play GTA anymore, or use Microsoft Windows, is because I would rather enjoy the freedom to customize my own machine and its software to fit my needs, rather than being controlled by the programs I use. This is what both Rockstar and OpenIV do to you. There is no reason for OpenIV to be closed software that cannot be developed and modified for people's own use: it is a tool. As are things like Microsoft Windows, and I do not appreciate tools controlling how I use them.

Vegas725 reacted to otatoprm in Project CHP WIPThe hurks pack is the most accurate out there, @Officer Goetz you're going to be wasting your time if you're going to make a chp pack, y'all be saying you guys didn't know thehurks pack existed is pretty much a stupid excuse, it has over what 50k downloads and featured on lcpdfr so i honestly don't know how could you miss that and @JJDawkinsbefore you talk about accuracy please make sure you know you do not have any knowledge in making an accurate pack :)

I understand that and agree, but I think i'd rather have a GTA 4 with the bugs from 1.0.7.0 but with all the supported mods that were made for it instead of a more stable GTA 4 with no mods.
Fingers crossed Alexander Blade updates the script-hook so we can get the best of both worlds.

Vegas725 reacted to NickieB in Request's to convert unlocked NickieB modelsHello all, I hope everyone is doing well. I've been getting a lot of PM's asking for permission to convert my unlocked DEV GTA IV models into GTA V. I don't mind at all if you want to do this, that's why they were released unlocked in the first place so that people could use them as they please. The only thing I ask is that if you do convert it to GTA V and use it on your model, that you credit me for the original work. I hope by posting this in the forum it will help ease down on the PM's and give a more timely response since I don't come on here very often.
UPDATE: I was informed by a poster that some of the readme files state that you need my permission to convert models. Like I said above, no need to ask anymore, consider everything fair game for conversion to whatever you want.
Thanks,
NickieB

Vegas725 reacted to TheUniT in Check out ELS for V!Awesome. But I won't touch this when the doors won't stay open, the V lighting would be just fine (unless it doesn't work with custom lightbars).

Vegas725 reacted toDeactivated Memberin My Thoughts on V ModelingIf there's such a problem with releasing unlocked models, why do it in the first place I may ask?
I never liked the idea of a huge locked up community full of a bunch of random car mods. I'd rather have a small freely open community with a few mods in it than a shit fest of drama over a bunch of virtual car mods. It's not like it's the end of modding, I like to put the best quality I am capable of into my modifications for GTA V and allow them to be of use to anyone who would like to take upon it and maybe even make it better. It's quite amazing what a community with people working together can do. Of course you'll still get the blokes here and there pissing on your work and treating it like shit, but that's just life. Happens to everyone. No matter what may happen here, I'll just clean up and move on. No need to end it all.

Vegas725 reacted to Mikofiticus in Everything changes - the new LCPDFR.comYeah, I'm getting notifications that people are posting, commenting or uploading things. To be honest, I don't really care what most of the people do, except for a handful of people. I'm hoping I can customize my notifications, because this is gonna get nasty in a hurry. I don't want 1000 notifications for stuff I don't care about and miss out on something I do.

Now that the issues with OpenIV and ped export/import have been fixed, you can edit default ped models. Doing much more than basic model editing is kind of complicated, and requires 3D modeling knowledge.
However, there is one very useful thing you can do without knowing 3D modeling: combining different ped meshes.
What is a ped mesh? It's a component like head_002 or uppr_001. For example, for skinny cops, the long sleeve shirt is one mesh, and the leather jacket is another. By combining them, you can have cops with only short sleeves and jackets; cops with state trooper pants; state troopers with a regular cop's long sleeve shirt (instead of their weird one); etc.
So how does this work? To start with, you need OpenIV. OpenIV can export .wdd files to its own format, called openFormats. Crucially, openFormats are text-based. To export a model to openFormats, first navigate to componentpeds.img (click the arrow next to GTA IV or EFLC, under pc\models\cdimages). Then, right click it, and select "Export to openFormats (.odd)".
Make a new folder somewhere, and select it. Then, hit "OK". This folder should look like this:
Open the .odd file in your favorite text editor. It should look like this:
Each gtaDrawable section represents one mesh. It doesn't contain the actual mesh; all it does is to tell OpenIV about the mesh when you import this back in at the end, so OpenIV can set up the .wdd properly. Let's look at one section of it:
gtaDrawable lowr_001_u { shadinggroup { Shaders 2 { gta_ped.sps LOWR_DIFF_001_A_UNI LOWR_NORMAL_001 35.00000000 0.20000000 1.00000000;0.00000000;0.00000000 LOWR_SPEC_001 1.00000000 gta_default.sps LOWR_DIFF_001_A_UNI } } skel { skel m_y_cop.skel } lodgroup { mesh { high 1 m_y_cop\lowr_001_u_high.mesh 0 9999.00000000 med 1 m_y_cop\lowr_001_u_med.mesh 0 9999.00000000 low none 9999.00000000 vlow none 9999.00000000 center 0.00081600 0.07059900 -0.52030600 radius 0.54099200 aabb.min -0.23394000 -0.14672600 -1.00492300 aabb.max 0.23622800 0.28086400 -0.02737300 } } } Seems complicated, right? We don't actually need to worry about most of it. Let's go through line-by-line: gtaDrawable lowr_001_u This is the mesh name. The lowr_001_u tells OpenIV what mesh it's dealing with. The lowr means that this is a lower-body mesh (i.e., a pair of pants). The 001 is the number of the mesh. The rule for these is that they have to be unique within a given type, and range from 000 to 00n, where there are n+1 meshes of that type (i.e., there is lowr_000_u and lowr_001_u; uppr_000_u through _003_u; etc.) Worry about this at the end. I don't know what the _u is; since we're not making our own meshes, just keep it _u if it started as _u (which seems to be clothes), _r if it started as _r (seems to be heads), etc. All you would ever need to change is the number; the lowr_ and _u should stay the same. gta_ped.sps LOWR_DIFF_001_A_UNI LOWR_NORMAL_001 35.00000000 0.20000000 1.00000000;0.00000000;0.00000000 LOWR_SPEC_001 1.00000000 gta_default.sps LOWR_DIFF_001_A_UNI Ignore the numbers. All you need to care about is the LOWR_*_001_* parts. Those represent textures for the model. Now, GTA seems to select ped textures its own way; read my tutorial on ped textures for details. This probably just controls OpenIV's preview of the ped. Even so, you may as well update it when you have to. Again, all you'd change is the number in there. skel m_y_cop.skel This defines the skeleton that this mesh maps to. You want it to be the same as the name of the odd file, but .skel instead of .odd. high 1 m_y_cop\lowr_001_u_high.mesh 0 9999.00000000 med 1 m_y_cop\lowr_001_u_med.mesh 0 9999.00000000
This is the key part of the section. It tells OpenIV where to find the mesh file. In your folder, you should have seen a subfolder called m_y_cop (or whatever). That has a lot of .mesh files inside. The m_y_cop\lowr_001_u_high.mesh is actually literally a filepath for the mesh.
OK, this explanation of the file format is done. The next post will have a tutorial to do stuff with these files.
