I'd say (and this is just my opinion) prove yourself as a competent modeler.

It's my understanding, and most of the readme.txt's say about the same thing, that just fair credit is expected. The cars I've released, I didn't ask for permission. I did however credit the people that made the things I've used. I didn't get whinged at/in trouble for doing that, either. That's only for stuff that's been released unlocked for development purposes, though. edit: holy moley I was typing that up for like a minute, and was already beaten to the punch.

If I'm correct, F5 to turn it on and off. plus and minus on the number pad to cycle threw the other officers, and (this might be different you for, like page up and page down I think), I use alt+up for advising response, and alt+down for requesting backup.

With windows explorer, navigate to your GTA4 installation folder, (USUALLY c:/program files (x86)/Rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto 4/ (or if you use steam C:/program files (x86)/steam/steam apps/common/Grand Theft Auto IV/)). After that, Go threw the 'pc' folder, then and the 'cdimages' folder. Once you're there you'll be presented with alot of '*.img' files. Just make a copy of "Vehicles.img", it will be saved most likely as "vehicles - copy.img". That will be your backup.

I like open 4 better personally. It has much more versatility when compared to spark 4. It lets you look at the cars with a 3d viewer, and you can work more with WTD's inside of open 4. Also openIV is constantly being updated, which is a big plus.

I'd say map it to all the extras, 1 threw 9.....I'm pretty sure it will be on all the time if you do it that way.

Are you talking about the color of the lights when they flash, or the color of the lightbar when it's not on? If you want to change the color of the lights on the lightbar when they flash, it could be done in a emerglights or emerglights_emis texture....check both of them. If it's the color of the lightbar glass, usually it's emerglights.

I started converting the f150 from that site the other day. I'm learning as I go so it will probably take me some time. Hopefully others will be able ot convert the impala and release it unlocked :)

So...I'm having a bit of a problem making a skin. I figured this was the appropriate forum because it's content modification. Anyways: I've made myself a skin. If I export the skin as dds dxt5...it becomes quite pixelated and, well, ugly. If I export the skin as A8R8G8B8, It looks fine. My bit of research has told me that the A8 format of dds is...bad. If I export the skin as PNG, it gets converted into DXT5 upon import to the wtd anyway. I'm also experience a problem with with my cars not spawning, the ones that are using the A8 format DDS. Does anyone know if gta 4 can handle A8 dds textures? Any knowledge is helpful in regards to this subject. :) PS: I'm using openIV and Paint dot net
