Police Tactics - Real Sim
A car maker does have the car shape copyrighted. It's standard practice along with the name to do the car shape, or everyone could make a Ferrari knockoff and sell it cheaply.. Say you want a Porsche clone, You can't go and 1:1 copy the shape. You either have to change it up a fair bit, Porsche front, light strip across the back (which actually i think would look better) and rebadge it, then release/sell it. Or, option 2....and this is done in the automotive world. Do a RUF, buy the chassis, then modify it and sell it as a different car, a 911 can be sold as a RUF RT8 or RT12, it's essentially a Porsche chassis, but rebadged. (Actually RUF are more than willing to show up in games, they're cheap and VERY easy to license), Ruf is a stand in for Porsche since Porsche is EA exclusive now so game companies put RUF cars in to replace them. And RUF make some fine real and virtual cars ya know! EDIT: If they bought the rights Ford could easily tell the devs what to remove or they'll pull their cars from the game. It was often speculated but never proven Ferrari forced devs to make their cars the best in the game else the devs would lose licensing

Sounding better and better. I just hope it plays as good as the hype though. I can live with okay graphics if the game is great (see Civ 3/4)

Police Tactics - Real Sim
Now I do like that idea a lot. The problem iwth IV/LCPDFR is that outside of cop work, there isn't a whole lot to do interactivity wise so....sort that and keep it interesting!

But with more interaction yes, not just IV's level of...'ooh shiny city' but you can't do a lot with it. I would love for you devs to spend time making bits of the city usable really, maybe a diner to eat at, or a store to buy food or stuff for your virtual home at (i.e. if you buy food for home then you can eat in and save money, but if you have a fridge you can keep food longer). Say I decide to go out in civilian clothes after my shift is over, I can take my own car and go explore the city if buyable or ownable cars are in. So let's say I go to a restraunt and eat, I can then drive around the city more. Or if my other needs are low, ways to fulfil them, working out for strength for instance, or talking to people on the street/online or reading a book for social. Though, I do know features wind up cut for whatever reason myself, but I'm keen to see where this goes. Camera angles. Is it locked to third person only? IMO a first/third switch like Skyrim or Fallout 3 would be a nice idea to add in once everything major is done. Also, I do think a nice mode for the 'career' if that's the right word would be starting off as a civilian before you even apply to the academy, that way if you want to stay a pure civilian you can, but you know you can apply to the academy to be a cop (and start the game proper) Now my thoughts on the trailers. I watched them both and they look good, saw a few ropey animations here and there but overall it's looking great

Will GTA 5 be available on PC?
No it was a new IP as far as the PC goes, given RDRevolver wasn't on the PC either. That is what I was getting at with my new IP point, no it isn't a new IP overall, but for that platform....yeah it's a risk

Police Tactics - Real Sim
See IMO my idea on that is it should be left to the player to decide how they play, not have arbiatry rules forced on them.

Police Tactics - Real Sim
So how would a typical game session start, would you be in a home and off duty? Say I wanted to take a day off from being a cop and just explore the city, could I do that? Okay, let's assume I can and I'm in a store buying food and it gets robbed, I can stop that being an off duty cop or? So say I go and be a cop for six or seven hours, I go home, wha then? Could I turn around and go back for another shift? Callouts, are they random or preset? What about doing your own thing, being a 'bad cop', could I for instance handcuff somebody then hit them with a baton to make them move?

You are to create a new Youtube however Harper

you tube / google being dumb
I know I had to link my gmail and Youtube together a while back...so there is that to it. But is it really that hard to create a new Gmail with a fake name and reupload the vids to that channel?
-
you tube / google being dumb
It didn't used to require one, but now it's all tied in together, you MUST have a gmail to make a Youtube isn't it? I'm not 100% clear on the details or how it works

No Ford will not do a thing, because the car makers (unless it's a special case....see Porsche and the Enduracers rFactor mod, or Ferrari and BATRacer) don't exactly make a habit of slapping down mod teams. Ford frankly do not give a crap whether you use a CVPI, a PD however does. Okay, so going by your logic nobody should post pictures of cars on FB or Photobucket or deviantART or wherever since...ya know, it's copyrighted. However the car makers do not take down those images. There's something called 'fair use' Obviously, if you go posting images of your brand new Porsche cop car all over the internet and say you're making it to be released, you are going to get a letter from Porsche AG and asked to stop and delete all the work (as Enduracers did and complied). Whereas, post pics or photos of a CVPI, not a whole lot will happen. Why? Because, CVPIs are common, they've been done in a LOT of games/movies/TV shows/books, whereas the luxury car makers...which Ford is not one of, are more aggressive about protecting their brands. For instance: Ferrari barred Jalopnik from covering their cars after Jalopnik published an article questioning Ferrari's ethics, i.e. bringing track prepared race cars and disguising them as road cars. End result? Ferrari blacklisted Jalopnik from writing about their cars. Ford have bigger fish to fry than a Youtuber uploading a video of a game mod using their cars, when they have bigger problems on their hands, whereas Ferrari and Porsche (and to a lesser extent BMW and the whole V.A.G, Volkswagen Group...which is stuff like Bugatti, Porsche, Audi and VW) are some of the most protective of their brands. So if you do a Ford badge you'll get sued? That's like Nike going after someody for modding Niko's shoe textures. Not going to happen a whole lot. As for the LCPD comment, you put the LCPD site, not LCPDFR, so I was making the point that the actual LCPD is a bunch of pixels and code, so would they really care what another PD thinks?

Will GTA 5 be available on PC?
The main reason they didn't release RDR.... Is because it was a R* San Diego title. They never release for PC. Secondary reason was because it was a new IP and they didn't want to take the risk of it tanking on PC

Cease and Desist on Grand Junction Police Department Skins
No as when a takedown is issued the staff do take it down. And I highly doubt the LCPD care about a PD....given they're a bunch of pixels and lines of code

you tube / google being dumb
Okay that is weird, though it is all linked to Gmail now, so is the name on your Gmail like K 9 Police? If so that may be the reason, Try Caynine Police as an example. As for the real names thing. That's why I have a psudonym ready to use.

Huh I don't get that at all and I log in every day, I just selected the 'Remind me later' option, did you not have that?

Cease and Desist on Grand Junction Police Department Skins
I do have an idea but I have zero prizes to give out. However I do have a way how it'd be done. Everyone who enters submits a skin with a few screenshots (2-3), then after a month or so submissions are closed, the voting begins. Anyone want to help with this?

Cease and Desist on Grand Junction Police Department Skins
But it's easy to simply modify a logo. I could easily go and dig up screenshots of a contest entry for fictional skins and show the high quality work some people have done with totally fictional stuff, there's some amazingly talented folks out there and I bet if you had a contest to come up with 100% fictional liveries, we'd have some amazingly done ones. So who wants to start a fictional livery contest?

Cease and Desist on Grand Junction Police Department Skins
I'm on GJPD's side with this though. It's their name/image at stake and it is very, very easy to change the skins to a fictional PD, different font, different text color and logo and show that off as your own work. Though now GJPD's done it, I wonder how many other departments do this and we don't hear about it? How many people just take the skins down and say nothing.

Vehicles.dat
Nope. Try to spawn a civilian car and do a traffic stop
-
Vehicles.dat
No you can't. I spawned a civilian PMP600, went behind a Ruiner, hit shift. Nothing happened at all.
-
Vehicles.dat
As in yes, have the admiral model, but have IV/LCPDFR recognize it as a police car so I can do traffic stops. So for instance, Admiral in both Admiral slot and Police2 yes, I could use SparkIV but can I simply edit the vehicles.ide to point to the Admiral model, rather than the police2 model or am I forced to go through SparkIV and change the model and texture?

How can i change my character to a cop without going to the police station?
If they are in added cars, I think so. Else if you add a car to police2, you select that and it spawns that car
