Redownloaded IV from Steam (so a 100% legal copy, I bought it for £50 on release running 1.0.7.0 with LCPDFR, First Person ASI mod and Abraxas Police Station mod installed) and wanted to play 1.0. I used the auto installer and have everything up to date. Installed it and all was well after I removed the lights toggle to none, until it crashed. I've noticed it usually seems to crash accessing audio files both from players/NPC cops, the most recent is when I had a drunk driver jack my cop car (wow) and got a car blocking my shot, I went to order the driver out, bang CTD. Is there a way to dummy out the audio calls to see if that's the culprit? I'll attach my logs and see if anything odd leaps out, the only thing that strikes me as odd is this:

Had to share this one once I saw this topic. Just started a patrol in Leftwood when this Rancher shot past me (bear in mind I'm running 100% vanilla here) and I called in a pursuit in the Patrol, the slowest cop car known to man. So I had 20 cop cars (okay, I did modify THAT bit of the ini) after this one guy in a truck. Eventually we caught up to him but he got away onto the Skyway. Led us back down to Hove Beach and eventually got boxed in there. By this time one of the cop cars was on fire and I figured it was gonna blow up so I backed away then figured you know what, this is gonna be interesting. Suffice to say, 20 cop cars, about 5 or 6 civilian cars, 2 ambulances and several Russian gangsters got caught up in one large fireworks display. Ah, the smell of exploding stuff in the morning. For reference, the guy in the Rancher pretty much went around the city clockwise from Leftwood all the way to Hove Beach before finally being stopped. Or rather, exploded.

O_O 1.00 just maybe, possibly, got better then... Though back to V and its AI, I was online earlier (yeah yeah) and I absolutely hate the police spawning. I was up by the windfarm and had a police copter emerge from the ground and I got a wanted level for colliding with it. WTH? I was minding my own business and couldn't go anywhere since it spawned right under me and went straight up to go join a pursuit.

Wait was that anim in IV's files? Or was it somehow ported from V? I'm having a hard time figuring it out as the pic's so dark
-
But not everyone has or wants to use the SNT though, IV is bad enough on PC (see LCPDFR's errors and script errors) and I don't want to add another mod on top of LCPDFR and Braveheart's scripts, I have a second IV install on another HD for my modded IV (cars, scripts) and that's pretty unstable. Even when I do use it, LCPDFR makes me pick a car when I pick the skin and walk outside, it makes me pick a car. You can't get around that with SNT easily. Or, to put it another way you can't not pick a car once you're in the station and picked a skin.....which LCPDFR tells you to do. Whichever way you look at it SNT is a workaround, not a solution.
-
Would it be possible to script these in either with the stock FR or via user made scripts? Sometimes I don't want to pick a car, I just want to do foot patrol but it maes me go through the step of picking a car, pus some car mods I've used in the past make IV or EFLC crash. So, would it be possible to pick a model/skin and then have a button to optionally skip the pick a car bit when you get outside, or not spawn directly in the car but have to walk to it? Additionally, would it be possible to make the AI drive to a call or waypoint a la LA Noire? Probably not but I do recall one mod that claimed to drive to waypoints.

Did that in Rancho last night. All that to steal a fully modded car.../sigh AND I STILL DIED GETTING AWAY! -.-

9-11-01 never forget
celticfang replied to K-9 police 9's topic in Law Enforcement, Current Events & Society
It's been 12 years, yet the people I speak to in NY state and city on a regular basis have let it go, one's an EMT/FF in Rochester, he's accepted it happened and sees today as another work day, hanging a flag in the firehouse to remember but to keep working above all. Same for my friend living in the Bronx, her outlook on today is just treat it as yet another day and get on with life. NYC has healed and moved on, it's time for the rest of the US to stop hanging onto it and let it go. 9/11 is not a reason for the US to rip the Constitution to shreds or have drones in the streets and martial law in the cities. Anyone remember that Ben Franklin quote about liberty and giving it up? It fits the post 9/11 world pretty well. I absolutely, point blank hate 9/11 being used as a reason to drum up patriotism or used as a reason for a (completely bullshit) war, see OIF 2003 and the shitstorm that's entailed from it. Okay, you were attacked, you fought back, but quit holding onto it for a reason to pick a fight with people. One day the US will invade a nation and get defeated (likely by a Chinese-backed nation) and they'll run and hide. 9/11 happened. I'm not stating it didn't, It was an attack, but Spain got attacked, the UK got attacked in 2005 as well, it isn't just a US issue, it's a deeper religious issue that won't ever go away. In some ways the US is similar to the Muslim states it's at 'war' with. Iran has joined mosque and state, the US has some politicians who want church and state as one. As for your point on the military k-9, both the military and FR have their share of people who think they are gods and above reproach, it's not just one or the other, and to call it a 'war' is flat out ridiculous, so are you saying that the police and EMT and FF are at war with America? That's hard to grasp really. Now, Americans were killed in 1941, that caused America to enter into WWII, Americans were killed in bombings and attacks pre-2001, Khobar Towers, WTC 1993, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Panama and so forth. Where's the memorials to those fallen Americans? Khobar got brushed over, Pearl Harbor's remembered as a history-twisting Hollywood butchering of history, the 1993 WTC bombing isn't a huge deal to people. Oh and FR deaths aren't glossed over if you actually take the time to look them up and read something more than a local paper ya know. There was a lot of coverage of the 19 killed in Arizona, there's coverage of the Boxcar scandal that led to FR deaths due to insufficient aircraft (the exchanged C-130s were found to be later involved in drug smuggling in Mexico) EDIT: Read up on who funded AQ and their motives. Scary stuff. Also, you want to compare WWII to 9/11? No. You want to compare six years of bloody global struggle to one day? There were more Americans killed in the European and Pacific theaters than in 9//11, there were more Americans killed in the US than on 9/11, over six and a bit years. So, one day does not compare to 1939-1945, or 900AD-2013AD in terms of holy wars. The so-called war on terror's been going on for roughly ten years in its current form and 9/11 has been in some quarters classed as an act of war. I partly agree as the Islamic jihad's been going on for thousands of years, right back to the 9th or 10th century with the Ottoman Empire and their conquests of Europe. -
well that escalated quickly..

Charles Starkweather murdered people in the 50s. No video games were around for 20 years. The demon of that time was rock and roll music long with the Red Scare and McCarthyism. (The original Footloose anyone?) Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby in the 60s. No video games. Hippies were the devil du jour as was the sudden counterculture, sexual freedom and drug explosion. Ted Bundy murdered people in the 70s. Video games came along in the late 70s. He was the devil du jour. Point is violence has been around since the dawn of time and video games are the latest scapegoat. Before that, rock music, before that, the Axis powers in WWII, before that, Imperial Germany with the Kaiser at the helm, you get my drift. There 's always a scapegoat involved and rarely are the actual causes tackled. -
What the heck is going on here.
celticfang replied to STARTairsoft780's topic in General & Miscellaneous Discussion
Part of the issue I think is everyone wants to make mods. If I may compare it to another older game and their community....Over in that game's community, people make skin, drama happens but the big mods are mostly made by teams, they do the big mods. But there's strict guidelines there too. A GTA analogy would be G17 made LCPDFR instead of one guy coding it on his own, but modders couldn't alter the handling.dat or exe file, everything else was fair game. You may think that restricting, but there's a lot of creativity there. How's that link back to GTA? Well, I feel the lack of guidelines and the, and this is going to sound hypocritical as I paint skins for games, ease of getting into modding or texture editing is partly to blame, that anyone can go and make a car and upload it and get feedback on LOT of sites. -
Rockstar is creating a REAL life Bravado Banshee!
celticfang replied to DLer's topic in GTA V Discussion & Media
Viper GTS-R? I so want that car. Looking at that Viper made me think of the late 90s GTS-R though. Awesome street car and the factory (yes ORECA was essentially a factory team) had some of the best paint schemes ever. Like so: From 1999 Le Mans, all three beautiful ORECA entries. GTS-R GTS spec, which....is basically a street GTS-R uprated to meet Le Mans rules. Also, here: ALMS/Grand Am 1999-2000. Won 2000 Daytona 24 Hours -
Rockstar is creating a REAL life Bravado Banshee!
celticfang replied to DLer's topic in GTA V Discussion & Media
The Banshee was originally based off of a Viper in I, III era so it makes sense for them to go and use a Viper. Though, any word if it's the SRT? Love that car. Or if it's a standard viper -
Thanks, you reminded me i need to get it on my main PC...

GFWL Shutting Down July 2014
celticfang replied to KennyAndrade's topic in GTA IV Discussion & Media
I got told different however, i.e. that you can be connected to the Internet, you can (for instance) play IV SP, but MP will be disabled as it uses GFWL for the whole MP segment of the game (like if you used xliveless or a loader that turns off MP). Same with Ace Combat or Batman or whatever you want, credit to RPS for explaining it in the comments on their article about it. Unlesss somebody steps up and pretty much makes an MP mod from scratch then GFWL being shut down will be like Gamespy all over again. Did I mention I'm bitter about that? It's certainly a hot topic and honestly I'd side with a list of games that will lose functionality rather than GFWL suppor that reads from a script and repeats what their bosses tell them to say. -
GFWL Shutting Down July 2014
celticfang replied to KennyAndrade's topic in GTA IV Discussion & Media
The way it's explained on RockPaperShotgun is that it's the store AND servers being shut down. Yes you can get past the need to sign in thing with xliveless but....you can't easily play MP with that can you? (or when I tried last year it said it disabled MP) -
Any FSX players on LCPDFR?
celticfang replied to Big Smoke's topic in Computers, Technology & Gaming
I'm such a noob. I completely forgot how to use MCE so for the past 20 minutes I've been telling my crew random stuff while the four people I'm on Skype with have been feeding me stupider and stupider things to try. Ah good times! -
Agent is, sorry to say, vaporware. It'll be the next DNF

Any FSX players on LCPDFR?
celticfang replied to Big Smoke's topic in Computers, Technology & Gaming
I'm currently....well, typing this my MD-11 is on autopilot over Iowa en route from KORD to KSEA. I'm using MCE which lets me talk to the crew and say what I wanna do rather than manage a big aircraft solo. So if I say flaps 25 the FO sets the fllps to 25, or I can tell him he has the radio and he'll do the comms for me -
Any FSX players on LCPDFR?
celticfang replied to Big Smoke's topic in Computers, Technology & Gaming
Yep Using Maddog, DC80, bunch of freeware stuff and MCE. -
Nrred3 is epic. Though I wanna see his dad play it, or a father and son MP day.... Sadly though I fear that'll mean (harking back to the whole is LCPDFR gonna get more exposure thread) that there's going to be an influx of new users. Eh I got my ways of dealing with them EDIT: I can barely edit this post I'm laughing so much

Police Force 2 - Who's Interested?
celticfang replied to Nutronic's topic in Computers, Technology & Gaming
Anyone remind me why I paid money for it? Incidentally isn't there a strategy one using the same name though? -
Management said so I guess. Same management that then last year did away with R* in Canada. Way to go guys. However with them gone it does make me wonder who (if?) will be handling a PC port. I wouldn't read into the whole pre order for PC yet, given how secretive R* is That's the only reason I can think of. I'm sure if given the chance they'd want their games on as many platforms as possible
