Officer T. reacted to LMS in LSPDFR 0.4.9 - Now Available! We certainly share the concerns mentioned by you and others. However, even if most people behaved "crazy" like you said, there could still be a lot of value in it when looking at tendencies. Is someone even crazier/less crazy when facing event/situation X? It then does not really matter what their overall playstyle is, because you can see nuances depending on the situation. That would still be a very valuable insight.
This is the first iteration of the new system and we plan to add more interactions by the AI such as verbal warnings or ticketing. Those did not make it into 0.4.9 just yet. The only way for you to trigger the new system in LSPDFR itself currently is when calling in a crime. We now consider non-violent, on foot crimes for the new investigative mode. For instance, if an angry pedestrian shoves you (but not punches/fights) and you were to call that in, it would not turn into a full-blown chase where the suspects immediately starts sprinting away followed by police. Instead, they would walk off not knowing they have been reported. If you then were to call in backup, they would slowly approach and confront the suspect just like in the video. There is a chance the suspect might surrender on sight or resist.
We have many more plans for the system to "de-pursuit" the whole of LSPDFR in upcoming updates, so stay tuned 🙂

Officer T. reacted to verony28066 in Still waiting...First of all, im really disappointed that some big names have left and are selling thir mods behind a paywall ( damn muricans and their capitalism). I've always thought that people who make mods, do it in their free time because they like doing it. No one is forcing you... Now all of the sudden y'all are trying to make a living out of "modding". I understand that it takes hours, i've tried making car models myself and i understand that some very very high quality models are behind a paywall, but boycotting the site and deleting all your mods then making them behind a paywall is fucking dumb. Secondly, i dont know what part of "we cant control what happens outside of our site" you guys dont understand... Do you want Sam to take an ar and start hunting people who rip off mods? The only proposals i've seen from you completely go against the nature of lcpdfr.com... From all those years in this community, now you understand that uploading any file to this site makes them PUBLIC????? ANYONE can download that and the staff can do nothing about it. They arent the fbi, cia, interpol, kgb or whatever. If you want to make a living out of your mods, go for it. In conclusion, If you don't want your mods ripped off, go ahead and put them behind a paywall, enjoy making( what, 100 euro a month or smth?) from them. Uploading mods to this site makes them available to everyone and if someone wants to make harm, they will anyway. I advise forgetting all about this and bring back the pleasure of making mods becuase you like doing so and not because you are trying to make 40-50 euro per sale, cuz im sure there are less than 20 people here willing to pay so much fucking money for mods. I understand the hardwork but i think ive made myself clear. Lets bring back the positive vibes in this community. Peace out.
ps. about ezra tho.... never seen his "controversial" post, idk what to think ( so link it to me or send ss)

Officer T. reacted to navdata in Still waiting...TL:DR;
Bunch of dudes get triggered after their mods got ripped and outraged at G17 staff for "not protecting their files"
The staff thinks that it is impossible to protect peoples files on a public website
People want to make it private but sam said that its not going to change
(Personally, I think if some modders can't take the risk of file getting stolen on a public website, gtfo and quit modding)

Officer T. reacted to zach016 in Still waiting...Man, this thread is a dumpster fire full of ridiculousness.
Having read through the majority of the comments, I have yet to see a single reasonable request of the staff of the website. I have no idea how people expect their work to be made public on any website, and also be protected from theft, etc. You're trying to impose an impossible task upon the staff, of which the only solutions are to not post the content, or to only allow a select list of pre-screened people to download the item (Which is a nonsensical solution for a website of this nature).
The staff hosting the content on your behalf, only makes them responsible in so far as whether the content breaches their own rules, or applicable laws. That's like expecting walmart to prevent people from renting the movies purchased at their store to other people, or from people taking their item purchased on sale from Walmart, and trying to return it for full price at Zellars. The site is a point of distribution, not a content management system on your behalf.
The effort required to circumvent additional security measures, such as requiring a membership, is so laughingly small compared to the effort to rip models/extract source code/etc., that it would only actually serve to hamper legitimate users. I also have no idea what the expectation of people is if they were to actually move to a different site to publicly release their model's. Public by nature means they will be accessible to the very people you wish to be protected from, as they are an unfortunate part of said public.
I also find it funny that content creators here are using the excuse "well, have you ever had your content stolen?", as if that provides any special perspective on the situation. Im in the opposite boat, in that I can't release any of my created content (only skins), because each one borrow's from someone else's work in some capacity, and i respect the author's wishes of the borrowed content. I don't need my content to be stolen, to have the perspective that having content stolen sucks.
Even banning a person becomes an iffy proposition, as different people can have the same username for different applications. Evidence only goes so far to say that a person named billy-joe-bob on discord (As an example) ripped the files, when the same billy-joe-bob on here could be from an entirely different country.
As to the way staff treated "the community", I didn't see the original thread, however this thread really isn't making me sympathize, as reasonableness is quite clearly not a requirement for entry.

Officer T. reacted to Ragnrok in Still waiting...Honestly, I dont know what happened, and I dont really care. You people are the undisputed queens of drama. The vast majority are completely incapable of simply communicating their issues in a civilized, intelligent manner, and certainly incapable of having any patience at all with a staff that does this entirely in their free time. I get people are upset over something, but going on a rant and attacking staff is simply not the answer. Grow up and have some patience.

Officer T. reacted to Sam in Still waiting...All it takes is one person who is somehow authorized to come on and download it. There are then thousands of other websites and applications (e.g. Discord) they can upload it to.
-
Officer T. reacted to Sam in Still waiting...And our staff investigate many reports that are submitted to us every single day. As for your other point, I don't think I will have much luck raising the issue with the person that owns the channel - they are the person causing the issue.
-
Officer T. reacted to Sam in Still waiting...YouTube and Discord have other things to worry about.
-
Officer T. reacted to .Django. in Still waiting...First thirty minutes does it all the time fam. The folks that play this mod appreciate the hard work going into this free mod and its content. While it must suck that someone rips your work, you cant really cast blame on the LSPDFR team. they have enough to deal with keeping their mod moving forward, and besides most of the leaked content isnt even found here its on places like reddit and discord. People cant get pissy with the site moderators here for not dealing with something they never agreed to deal with in the first place.

Officer T. reacted to Sniper296 in Still waiting...I didn't know I'm G17 Media now. I also didn't know I made LSPDFR.
I guess I need this as my signature
My views and opinions are my own. I am a human, not a company. Even if the United States doesn't know there is a difference between the two and gives a company religious rights.
-
Officer T. reacted to Sam in Still waiting...No, our website is built on the principle that anyone can browse and download. We're not here to shut things off or stop people from downloading mods. This will never change.
People downloading mods is not the problem - it is the whole point of having a downloads section in the first place.
-
Officer T. reacted to Sniper296 in Still waiting...I didn't read all this topic, because I don't like flushing my time down the toilet. But I just have to comment on the expectations of users that this site should pursue your content on other sites, on other servers, in other jurisdictions.
Here is a bullet point of GitHub's DMCA procedure:
If your content is stolen, you, your lawyer or some other designated person is responsible for making a DMCA claim against the site or hosting provider hosting it. Not me, not Sam Houser, not your great aunt's dog. YOU!
Just as I have filed DMCA requests for my mods. I didn't demand someone else who's hosting my mods do it for me.
Just as has probably been done when LCPDFR or LSPDFR are hosted elsewhere without permission or decompiled.
It's unlikely that most vehicle mods even are valid copyright claims anyway. Surely EA, Ubi or whoever should be making that claim against a vehicle taken from their game. Or Ford, Dodge or whatever company owns them trademarks. Or the emergency department or company who's logos are being used.
And if locking mods is no longer effective, maybe complain to Oleg that your overpriced ZMod subscription doesn't feel worth it any more. But I'm sure he'll tell you that it is impossible for any file to be protected against reverse engineering, decryption, ripping, decompiling, etc. without preventing users from obtaining that file in the first place.

Officer T. reacted to motive007 in Still waiting...still waiting for you too leave the community lmao

Officer T. reacted to B. McDonald in Still waiting...Im just here to watch all these developers try to tell a STAFF MEMBER or MODERATOR how to do their jobs. To all the staff in this post, as you probably know, you will never be able to explain any of this to the dense, close-minded people within this thread.... no matter how much you dumb it down.. They will never understand the fact that you have no control over anything outside of your site. They must think you have legal right to everything on the internet... I enjoy watching all these people threaten you guys with "leaving LSPDFR", these snowflakes, are far outnumbered by the CIVIL modelers and the modelers who actually do this because they enjoy it. now, dont get me wrong, a world with no modelers for GTA V, would suck. But that would never happen. there will always be modelers mature enough to continue doing what they do. Now, to the modelers out there. i understand your frustrations, I really do. I have a couple buddies who model and have had stuff taken from them. But you know something? They dont constantly harass LSPDFR staff about it. You know why? Because there nothing they can do. they can not force "legal action" or ANYTHING along those lines outside of their site. That is the job of the modeler to do. Hide certain things within your models to prove its yours. Then, when you see it posted on another site, dont contact LSPDFR staff about it, contact the staff of that site it was posted on and show proof its yours and get it taken down. Nobody in this world can control the actions of anyone. You put it on the site, knowing theres a chance of this happening. Dont cry to LSPDFR staff when it actually does happen.
As to the "block people" or "require an account" comments. That wont stop anyone... Anybody can use a VPN or anything along those lines and create another account and get through the ban. Anyone can create fake accounts just so they can download stuff. If you are going to release anything, understand the risks involved. Dont cry to someone about it....

Officer T. reacted to LMS in LSPDFR 0.4 - Pursuits & InterventionWe've recovered some unused code in the game and polished it up to integrate with our AI. While it works well for most of the cases it is still GTA V at the end of the day.
