VSP Stripe advice

I am trying to make an accurate Vermont State Police skin for cvpi's, but the cvpi car model is slightly different than a real cvpi. When I try to draw a straight stripe, it, ends up too high above the tailights and going up onto the hood. I have included pictures of what I am talking about.

You can see how the line is supposed to follow the door handles, but when I do that, the front of the stripe goes over the fender and stretches the text. Is there a better way of doing this, or am I stuck with this?

Tom, I used bxbug's cvpi template to place the stripes along the door handles and to position everything else. The problem is, either end of the stripe is up too high on the car.

then lower the stripes? what program are you using?

Using GIMP. I could lower the stripes, but then they would be much lower on the door handles. Guess I'll either do that or bend them a little and see what happens.

It is my understanding that the stipes are bent ever so slightly on the actual vehicle too. New York State Police CVs have a slight bend in their stripe once the stripe gets to the rear quarter panel.
