Motorola Razr | Smart Flip Phone Thoughts?

Featured Replies

Hey all,
Just noticed that Motorola is attempting to bring back the trendy flip phones from back in the day by bringing back the new and improved Motorola Razr
I like the concept of it. However, I think the current stage of foldable smart displays feel somewhat cheap and unreliable.
What are your thoughts on this? Could this be a fashionable trend that may come back?

Kind regards,

Ray

I remember playing with the original, and ended up bricking one trying to mod it.

It's really just not in the price range I'd spend on a phone, though.

That's funny 😆

I do agree with you on the price of the unit, $1,500 for a flip phone is kinda ridiculous. Nonetheless I just find it funny how they are trying to bring it back with a modern approach to it.

Kind regards,

Ray

not only that, I would be afraid of hanging up on someone because of the touch screen that stays lit when it's in your pocket, ESPECIALLY when you can hang up using the outside screen LMAO

That's a great point actually. Never thought about that haha. They better have a good Quality Assurance team 😂

I miss my flip phone.  It called, texted and fit snugly into my pocket.  As a guy, it is inconvenient to have a smart phone because where the fuck do you put it if you don't have a belt clip?  In your pocket, and in today's day and age, some of these smart phones are the size of a brick.  Women got it easy, just throw it in your endless void of a purse and don't worry.

Smart flip phone is just being done for nostalgia sake, I really don't see something like that as being feasible for the masses.  I wish they'd take a risk and bring back regular flip phones - no internet, no fancy shit, no apps,  just calling and texting.  Not everyone needs internet or apps on their phone, me included.  I rarely use half of what is downloaded on it.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Same here haha, I never understood the logic of having a huge display for a smart phone... but hey that's just me haha. To be honest I'm a believer that history tends to repeat itself, what I mean by that is I can imagine a new trend for smart phones in the future where they try to bring back smaller phones/displays. I guess only time will tell tbh

Truth be told, I'm actually kind of hoping that flip phones will make a comeback. I know they're probably not going to (and I know I'm in the minority when I say I absolutely despise touchscreens), but honestly I preferred my old flip phone over the PDAs you see advertised for $lodsofemone. Hell, I was rocking a Casio Ravine2 until early 2018 (images in spoiler).

There is honestly something so satisfying with ending a call by slamming the clamshell shut, that you just don't get with a PDA.

The only thing I like about them is durability, that's what's amazing on flip phones, anything else is crap.

This. I will never forget how durable my old flip phone from way back in the day was. That phone survived so many drops and abusement haha. I feel like modern phones nowadays are designed to break every 5 seconds 😄

that's so true though, LMFAOO, I threw my best friends phone on the ground when told me it won't break so he was on the phone and I took his phone and straight up SMASHED it like the MIGHT OF ZEUS and it didn't break .-. now that's what you call a good phone.
