A little present to this great community

Featured Replies

Hello there!

As the hype for 0.4 is getting bigger every day, I decided to give a little present to the whole community, Players and Devs.

Here we all love emergency agencies, law enforcement above all and we luckily have real officers between us, telling us their stories.

I'm italian and I work in EMS since 2008.

In my country EMS is provided by First Responders (the same of North American EMT-B) like me, Nurses and Doctor with ambulances and medical cars.

So, I recorded my unit rolling on a call and I want to share it with you in a 8 minutes video.

If I will receive good feedback and a good amount of viewers, I'll start a series, using a better dashcam (you'll easily understand why 😅 ), where I also explain policies and procedures of my beloved job.

Hope you enjoy it!

Ambulance Dascam - Emergency Driving

Being from a nearby country (baguette-land) and working in medical field as well (hospital namely, often in the emergencies), I'm wondering: is it actually allowed to film such and share it? I know that here it's pretty restricted what you can film or not when doing such a job.

Hi! Thanks for your reply!

My agency's policies are pretty clear: no pics or videos are allowed if they're not authorized by PR Office or represent the agency in a bad light. To avoid those limitations, I just don't show license plates, logos or uniforms. You'll never see my ambulance from outside, for example. And you'll never clearly know to what EMS agency I belong.

Privacy laws in italy, indeed, don't forbid any kind shots taken in public place, unless they show recognizable dead bodies, people in distress or their bad behaviour. For example, again, I'll never show you the license plate of a driver deliberately obstructing my way. At the same time, sensitive datas such addresses, names, faces aren't displayed.

The city's name itself is not declared, since I've called it Bay Area, generically.

I hope this help! 🙂

Thanks for posting this.  I, for one, would LOVE if you made this a regular series.  Check out a channel called AmbuChannel 112, he quite often posts dashcam videos, and he's really good about making sure there is privacy for the patient, and that anyone who obstructs him in traffic has their license plate blocked, like you said.  There have been a few times now where family members of the patient know of him and his channel and ask about it. 🙂

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

"baguette land" thats great 😂

not really into EMS side of things myself, but i know a huge number of the community is. they would prob be interested in seeing some Italian ambulance action. besides the community here is pretty international. Go for it!

AmbuChannel gave me the idea, actually. Unfortunately I can only count on my single dashcam, since Dutch agency seems to be more "mind-opened" than mine. As I said, our policies are more orientated to a low profile job, but I think being in touch with the citizens could only improve their trust in what we do, especially because (in Italy) our crews are too often assaulted when on scene.

However, since I had a nice amount of views on the first video, good feedback and I just have been fueled by a Community Mod, I'm definitely going to start a series.

Just finished my nightshift, so I have a brand new video for you guys!

Stay tuned!  😎 🚑

I recommend, if you haven't already, talk with your supervisor/boss and just verify if it's allowed at all to upload.  I'd hate for them to see it and you get in trouble.

Here we are!

Second video of the series. This time, the BLS crew has to face an accidental fall down the stairs of railway station's hall.

The sun was down at the time and the road is bad, so the clip will be a little shaky for the first 3 minutes.

Enjoy!

Do you guys not have multiple siren tones? lol

The streets are so damn narrow and small.  There seems to be little to no room.

Most European emergency response agencies (although don't quote me on that, could be wrong) have one specific tone each, and that's it. In France, firefighters, gendarmerie and national police have their own two-tone variations, one each, but no additional tone. Makes it easier to recognize each of them if you ask me, especially since they're uniformal across the country.

As for the streets, that's your typical european towns and cities really, most of our medium to small sized areas are like this (although the most narrow streets tend to be within the old parts of towns, and are one way only).

Thanks for the clarification. Must be a bother to blur plates and faces though, but kudos to you for having the patience to do that. I know I wouldn't.
