Dallas police officer killed by drunk driver during funeral procession

Featured Replies

The actual headline is "Dallas police officer killed by suspected drunk driver during funeral procession for another officer..  However, not all would fit.

"Suspected"

Yeah, I'm sure that's totally not the case.  A guy doing his job lost his life because of an asshole that didn't care.  How fucking hard is it to just walkcall a cab/uber, etc?  It angers to me to no extent how careless people are and how all of those who drive impaired have zero concern for anyone but themselves.  Those that drive impaired (strictly referring to drinking/drugs) should spend 20+ in jail and be barred from driving for life.  Despite ALL the anti drinking and driving commercials, posters, labels, etc, they still do it, and will continue to.  People seem to think they hold their alcohol better than everyone else.  A common thing drunk people say is "I'm not that drunk, I can manage" or "I just had two drinks, I'm good."

Idiocy.

@Giordano Yeah, I heard about that but I hope the Dallas area D.A. does what the Harris County D.A. did in two cases already charge the persons who served that idiot. Here is the story: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/texas/articles/2018-04-05/4-charged-in-traffic-deaths-of-galveston-county-mom-infant

I hope as well, this death was totally preventable.

This is exactly why i feel nothing when i see people crying and begging while getting their 2nd , 3rd or even 4th DUI. Sorry only goes so far, and if you have done it that many times you clearly are not sorry, and do not care. It only takes one mistake to cost someone their life, it's so easy to determine whether you are too impaired to drive. I do it every Friday through Sunday. A Lyft/Uber/Taxi home is a maximum of 20$ dollars. Well worth it when you compare the average DUI defense cost which is nearly $10,000. A lot of people do not plan for the return home from the party/bar, they just roll with the night. That can be the stupidest decision you ever made.
