The EU plans the end of the Free Internet

No but in all seriousness, it's all to control your source of news intake and information available. They want you to tune into whatever local channel and hear their lone false narrative, and be lulled into politically correct peaceful bliss. Hopefully they people of the EU don't roll over for this, but then again i do not have high hopes. You let them take the internet, and they have complete control over information. It doesn't seem like some big deal, but in reality without the internet you could only depend on bias news paper, TV and other media outlets for your day to day and other informative needs. Thankfully I'm in the states and still have most of our rights intact still.

Yeah, most Americans look at Europe and the EU as a whole as an example of " what not to do ", however people including myself have to remind themselves that no place is America, but America. Unlike us in the EU Freedom Of Speech is not guaranteed, firearms are intensely controlled, etc. However our social and political climates are completely different so i feel those differences are justified. Aside from that there is a new wave of alternative media, and it's on the internet. You can go to Channel 4's youtube channel ( common British News Show ) and even see how bias and slanted the coverage is, same with some networks here in the United States as well. More and more people are turning to their computer, laptop, phone, etc to get up to date on the REAL news from actual sources in which do not have a political narrative to push. If that actually goes through, i could imagine a " dark web " of people who offer internet services illegally to people for money. Another black market created too, lol.

Dunno where you get your info, but you couldn't get it more wrong on this part. I can say my government is shit, or that EU is shit, or I can talk about anything anywhere and no one will prevent me to do so, because freedom of speech IS guaranteed. Stop thinking the EU is some kind of over-controlled zone where people are trapped or caged in their condition (and alternatively, stop thinking the US is so much better in so many regards, because clearly it isn't, both continents are shit and we're all toyed with by the ones in power, no matter the location).

EVERYONE has a political agenda. Absolutely -everyone-. Especially in medias. News from the internet aren't any more or less real than the actual news on the TV. Both are told and showed in a way that will orientate the viewer to think one thing or another about an event. There's no source of news anywhere that is absolutely objective. The best way to get informed is to actually check news from MANY news websites or channels, gather the info from all sides and digest everything to make your own opinion, rather than to have it cooked and served to you by someone behind a screen.

All i know is i have more inherent rights and freedoms and access to firearms, fireworks, explosives and other various cool entertaining stuff than anyone in the EU has. And last time i checked you cannot mock LGBTQ nutjobs in Canada without going to a tribunal counsel, and in the UK you go to jail for reporting on child rape gangs because the court has a silent order gag on all reporting that could possibly incriminate the Islamic community. Here in America i can call a man in a dress a f*g and stand outside a court openly reading a defendants charges to those nearby and walk away laughing and not detained or sentenced to a tribunal counsel fine because i have guaranteed freedom of speech. EVEN if it's offensive and or mean. Last time i checked if you guys even use a racial slur online you get hunted down by some special online " hate group " task force, lol. Freedom of speech in the EU/UK/Canada only applies if all parties agree with what you are saying, outside that narrative they will tear you to shreds.

I agree about using multiple news sources, the only way to assure you are not staying in your political bubble is to assure you read/inform yourself through even differing ideological/political ideas.

You can call someone a fag here too. It would make you a huge, antipathetic dick, and you'd be treated as such, rightfully so, but you still can do it. Just like I could call 'muricans gun-nuts, those americans would think I'm a dick and treat me as such, but I can still do it if I want to. Freedom of speech would be impeded if you were forbidden by law to not say it, which isn't the case here, gladly. Yeah, if you go out of your way to mock whole communities (which is a lot different than criticizing), it's gonna backfire at you, but it's not related to freedom of speech, it's more that you're just behaving like an idiot.

Besides, if we go with racial slurs, I'm preeetty sure that's a much bigger deal in the US with for example the whole 'n*gga' situation than here, considering it's not even a word we use anywhere.

He is in prison because he broke the law, I'm not sure how it works in the United States but trials here are meant to be fair, regardless of what happened. He was told not to report on the case because it could influence the jury and in do so result in the courts having to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds retrying the case. Adding on the person who is in jail is nothing more than an arrogant hypocritical racist, the guy has no problems throwing facts out the window to push his own agenda... he was the person who founded the EDL (English Defence League).

As for the whole no freedom stuff, I think you should do as you have said above and read/inform yourself by viewing other sources of information, because what you are reading right now is completely untrue.

Ah, the classic Hystery inspired " I don't agree with what you say, therefore you are wrong." Classic Stuff. Done triggered the politically correct  Community and Dev' team again, here we go. xD

Let's agree to disagree, because you are reading untrue things as well. And just like the news, i have a personally informed opinion i am using as a narrative and so do you. And ours clash, so just accept that and stop trying to prove me wrong and appearing like a smug self righteous arse. You are not going to change my mind, and clearly my bold and unfiltered opinions are not going to change yours. Let's just let sleeping dogs lay, and let the thread remain on track.

I'm sorry, but your response is laughable. You don't want to argue with what I said, because it made sense so you chose to just chock it up to me not reading the correct stuff?

At this point, I really couldn't care who you think is the 'proper' source for news and information (I'd gather you'd think Alex Jones and his fellow cuckoo crazy friends are factual and real news), I come from the United Kingdom, I live in one of the diverse areas in the United Kingdom so when people from countries like America quote right-wing news sources, and when I say news I mean YouTube channels and try and tell me what happens in my country, I get a little confused.

Based on my experience as a citizen in the United Kingdom I can tell you with 100% confidence that we have free speech, there are no daily terrorist attacks and that generally most things you say within your post in this forum section are completely incorrect or utterly misleading.

As for triggering the politically correct Community and Dev team, I really don't get your point. I merely pointed out that what you said was untrue, unless being politcally correct means simply pointing out 'fake news'.

Free speech isn't really a British concept. I disagree with anyone saying free speech exists in an ultimate form in the UK, it's simply untrue.

Although it really depends on how you think of free speech. People in Europe have the increasing opinion that free speech is 'anything that doesn't cause offence', although this isn't what I think free speech ultimately is.

This.

I honestly feel bad for anyone who thinks this.  While I am against intentionally saying something that would offend someone or cause a problem (ultimately with ill intent), people's opinions always have and always will vary, and sometimes that means someone will get offended by said opinion.  It's hard to imagine that in modern times people are still being told what they can and can't say.  (Aside from North Korea, this is obvious)

On top of this, when you try and prevent someone from being offended, you're essentially holding their hand like they are a child and saying "You're too sensitive for the real world", which is ultimately what internet censorship comes down to.  If it's not a government trying to suppress those that speak out (John Oliver and his shit talking of the Chinese president (he was banned in China)), it's trying to protect the sensitive people who apparently have no idea how people actually are.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂
