I always seem to see people in the UK/ Australia extremely misguided regarding the issue of firearms.  Firstly, you had a mandatory buy back program, a CONFISCATION. Your mass shootings were a st

I agree that it isn't normal to see people doing this, but what makes the AR-15 more traumatic for people to see than other guns?

I realize that they are used in publicized shootings but they only account for 1-2% of gun homicides in the United States. What is the real issue at hand, that's the question?

Well, it is kinda strange to bring guns into a church, a place of peace where you pray to god, which wouldn't want weapons that are used for war in a church.

I agree, it is strange to bring weapons in a church but where do you get the words "weapons of war"?

This term is used to make AR-15 more scary, in fact they are not used in war. They are civilian variants, meaning they cosmetically look the same but are semi-automatic.

Historically there have been bolt action rifles in war, no one refers to them as "war guns", what gun isn't a "war gun"?

Never the less, I agree it is strange...but the outrage over the type of gun is silly.

I expressed myself a little bit wrong. I mean, it is really strange to bring a weapon in a church. And I didn't want to seem like I want to make a outrage about guns, but I am personally happy we in Germany have some other weapon laws.

I certainly agree it is strange, almost cult-ish. What do you mean  you have other weapon laws?

We in Germany have very strict weapon laws. Weapons have to be registered at your local government. Also, they have to be locked away and the ammunition has to be seperated from the weapon itself (no loaded magazines allowed in weapons). Also, when transported they need to be in a case that is lockable and in your trunk. Also, you can't carry them around in the city and so on. You are only allowed to either hunt with them or use them on certified weapon ranges.

I don't see why that would be a good thing, and a happy situation for a citizen. You can't use weapons for self protection? That's a scary law...after all criminals wouldn't obey all of those laws. A government is controlling how you store your weapons in your home, and if it's loaded?! That seems like government over reach to me....

Well, in Germany almost no one has a firearm. Not even criminals. The worst they have is a knife or crowbar. Also, we have a smaller number of murders commited with firearms. And in the end it is the governments job to protect the people and it is better to prevent things from even happening than locking people up for things that happen.

More people die from knives each year than "assault rifles", but anyways the government often fails to protect. I understand that if you remove all guns less people will die from guns, but it is important to look at violent crime rates, regular homicide rates, and even rapes. After the UK confiscated guns, their overall homicide rate increased. Some countries who enact gun control don't prevent criminals from getting them...it's a complicated issue for sure and there are many factors involved.

look at it this way....they are not calling for anyone to be killed nor are they beheading people like they do in the middle east and no one would be stupid enough to go into that church and massacre anyone because they would all be armed, I don't see anything cultish about this what so ever, and how do you know god wouldn't approve of this "weapons of war"? the media would be upset because there would be no victims here and nothing to use for there fear mongering propaganda

This church has every right to do this, but it's inconsistent with the theology of Christianity.

According to scripture, the Lord tells us that we're allowed to have weapons in church depending on the context of the weapon's presence. Irrational (and rational) fear is contradictory to the word of the Lord. Having weapons present for the sake of having weapons present is also a contradiction to the word of the Lord.

Not really. According to Gallup, the number of parents that fear for their children's safety is actually at an all-time low. I'm not sure how you can know that most Americans are afraid and worried.

This is what America needs so bad, but it'll never, ever happen due to how our people are.
