ELS

Featured Replies

I have ELS dont know if i installed it right but are my cars supposed to not get damaged? and it makes a constant clicking noise. Im just wandering if its supposed to work like that

Yes, ELS works by constantly refreshing the car, therefore it can never be damaged.

And there is no way to stop this? I really dont feel like having an indestructable car as well as the other police when im not doing FR

ELS works on spawning and deleting extras on the car, there fore, the car is indestructible, the clicking, is the relays from the control boxes firing

Actually, from my research so far what happens is that ELS reloads the texture of the vehicle whenever the lighting pattern is updated.

The clicking noise is a bug, and can be disabled in the config

I'm working on an alternative to ELS right now. Allows vehicle damage of course :) in the end i want it to support custom flash patterns, custom light positions, etc... Still a WIP of course. I'm hoping to release the first version pretty soon which will support 3 primary lighting modes (as real light bars do), 3 warning light modes and 3 white-light modes.

Before summer is out im hoping to have multiplayer support, and custom flash pattern support for single player (multiplayer custom flash pattern will take longer).

And you got your info from whom? I have spoken to Caine the maker of ELS on several occasion during beta testing of V5, as well as using it since v2, the clicking is not a bug, it's meant to be there, it's the relays as you hear in real squads, texture? no, the lights are extra parts, wich are spawning and deleting refeshing the model

Decopmiled it. :) It essintally adds / changes the texture... maybe it adds an object to it as well, but adding the object won't refresh the model, its the texture that does that.

In most cases when you add an object to a vehicle, you will reload the texture. Creating an object and then attaching that to the vhicle wouldn't reload the texture/vehicle, and probably should have been the way to do it.

About that being a bug, i misread something in the config. :) thought it said something along the lines of "when change sfx" where actually it is flash sound fx.

And if its supposed to be there, its way too loud :) i've never heard relays that loud before and ive been in quite a few cars with LED bars on them.

What also led me to believe it was a bug is that it ALWAYS clicks... In real life it only clicks when the high intensity bulbs (usually on the edges of the bar, acting as strobes or similar) flash... not when the LED's flash.

Doesn't ELS attach different objects with different texture maps...so it refreshes objects AND textures, not one or the other. Either way, I don't really see how that changes the fact that an ELS car with its lights on is essentially indestructible.

My lightbar always clicks giving there are 2 relays in it for the wig wags and i have relays under my seat that click

What kind of lightbar do you have? That sounds odd that your relays are under your seat, are you in a crown vic? The only time ive ever had a lightbar make annoying clicking sounds is when you open your door and are standing near it. ELS clicks constantly, not only when the outside lights light up (where those lights would be).

Eg: els clicks around once every 1ms. All the lightbars ive seen with this 'issue' click around once every 1 second

Yes, you are right. adding objects wont reload the car... updating the texture does.
